Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"The war had just ended and we'd won, I suppose. It's hard to really consider it a victory with all the people who didn't make it," Cassie spoke quietly, trying to keep her lip from quivering. The war was still too fresh in her mind, the losses still cut too deeply. It was hard to think about. "The media was all over us, but I couldn't deal with it at that moment. I needed a bit more time. It was all just too much." She closed her eyes. "I went to sleep in my own bed and woke up here covered in that weird slime."

Marco frowned. "You weren't from then the last time. I think you were from the middle of the battle." From around when Rachel had died. But Marco didn't want to talk about that. "Seems like Stacy decided to muck around with your timeline."

Cassie didn't know what to say. Apparently, she had been here before, but just not this version of her. And she remembered nothing or knew nothing. Whichever applied to this situation.

Smiling weakly, she asked, "What is it that you always say? That our lives are insane? I think I'll go with that one for now." Taking a deep breath, Cassie refocused her mind. "Let's start with the basics. Where is there to live on this ship?"
livestoannoy: (Okay okay I'm listening)

Marco laughed. "Yeah, that just about sums it up. Who knows, maybe we're really all stuck in a psych ward somewhere instead, and none of this is even happening at all."

Living spaces were at least easier to explain than messed up timelines and memory loss - even if this still wasn't exactly normal either. "Uh, speaking of insane? You're probably not going to believe this either, but - turns out Stacy didn't just pick up people. She also picked up places. There's a whole City on this ship, with buildings from all sorts of worlds. Including your house."

"Right now, I feel like the psych ward might be the right place to be," Cassie sighed. This was all too much, but there was nothing to do but keep pressing on now. At least, all of her friends were with her, so it wasn't all bad. But that brought to mind another question.

"Also, Aftran mentioned that all six of us were here, as well as Karen, Tom, Iniss, and another Yeerk named Schmuz. Is there anyone else around right now that I should know about?" Cassie asked, a bit anxiously.

"My... house. That's not..." Her voice trailed off as she stared at Marco, certain that he had to be joking. She examined his face for clues, but saw nothing of the sort in his face. Well, it wasn't always so easy to tell with Marco. "You're kidding, right?"
livestoannoy: (Blah blah blah)

"My Mom's here, and Jara Hamee. And Rachel...well, she's here, but not here here. There's this crazy AI that takes people away every now and them to make them run mazes and deny them cake. Supposedly this is to test them to make sure that their soul or something won't fall out, if you believe that. That's where Rachel is right now."

For once Cassie, Marco wasn't joking. "Nope. Your house is actually here. And your barn, too. Hey, if you don't believe me, you'll see it yourself soon enough."

She nodded along as she listened to Marco, her surprise reflected in her eyes, but other then that, she didn't react too much to the revelations about the others who were awake aboard the ship. By this point, she was ready to believe anything. She was glad though that Marco had his mother here, since she knew well how much he'd missed her for so long. And there was a stab of pain through her heart to find that, while Rachel was here, she wasn't available at the moment. Since Cassie had found out that Rachel was alive aboard the ship, she had cherished the thought of seeing her best friend again, but she would simply have to wait. Not an easy thought, but it could be worse. At least she was alive. It would be nice to see Jara Hamee again, even though she felt for him, knowing how lonely he must be without his family. She missed her own already.

Cassie's mouth actually hung open as Marco continued to insist that her house was on the ship. Part of her still suspected that Marco was joking, but it wasn't like him to keep pressing the point once he'd been called out. And, again, she was now ready to believe just about anything. Marco could probably have told her that the galaxy was now made out of chocolate and she might have believed him. Or not. It was hard to know by this point.

"Well, at least we'll be comfortable," Cassie said, smiling weakly.
livestoannoy: (I am so good.)

"It's definitely better than staying in the crew quarters," Marco admitted. "At least at your house we can actually have real showers. Oh, and your attic's my room now. You didn't need that for anything, right?"

You wouldn't object to Marco wondering around living in your house and going through your stuff at all, would you Cassie? (And no matter what anyone says, those skid-marks in the hallways were not Marco's fault).

"No, I don't suppose that I have any use for the attic," Cassie commented slowly, still trying to come to gripes with the fact that her house was apparently aboard the ship. The weak smile remained as she added, "A few minutes ago I didn't even know that I had a house."

She definitely has no objection to him living there, although she might have some objection to his going through her stuff, but somehow it seems doubtful that those objections would do much to discourage him. A "don't ask, don't tell" about those skid marks seems the best course of action there. After all, surely, they couldn't have been helped.
livestoannoy: (Hah!)

"Good, because it's totally mine now," Marco said, grinning. Then he looked around, trying to spot Jake, or wherever Tobias had flown off to. "Okay, I'd show you how to get there now, but I still need to find Jake. You want to wait here while I try to track him down?"

[identity profile] caringcassie.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Go ahead," Cassie smiled reassuringly at Marco. "I'd rather have us all be together when we leave here anyway. Would you please see if you can find Tobias too? I'll also keep an eye out for them, but I won't wander too far from here. I don't want us all to be separated again."
livestoannoy: (Snigger)

"Tobias can probably see where all of us are," Marco said, rolling his eyes. He was started to wonder why he hadn't just asked Tobias to fly up and see where everyone else was. "But I'll keep an eye out. Don't hug too many trees while I'm gone!"

With a grin and a wave, Marco moved back into the crowd again.
