Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Cassie smiled broadly as the green puppy approached her. A part of her was thrown by the puppy's coloring, but given the things that she'd seen in the past and the fact that she'd just recently woken up in what appeared to be a living space ship while covered in goo, the color of the puppy didn't seem like that big of a concern. It must be some type of alien dog or something, which was strange, but, as Marco would say, their lives were pretty much completely insane by this point, if not well past that by now. It would take more then a green puppy to throw her, especially when said green puppy appeared to just want to say hello.

"Hi there, little guy," Cassie muttered gently, holding out her hand for the puppy to sniff. "You're a gorgeous little dog. Do you know that?"

[identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
The puppy seemed to swoon at her affection and playfully rolled around before...suddenly and surprisingly shifting into a much larger dog! A full sized green Labrador.

[identity profile] caringcassie.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that was kind of strange. Cassie stared at the dog in front of her. This strange green puppy could change sizes and shapes to an extent apparently given that it hadn't looked like a Labrador a moment ago.

She bent down to scratch the big dog's stomach, moving a bit more cautiously then before, but still not really frightened of the friendly animal.

"And you're an interesting dog as well I see. I wish that you could talk."

[identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Annnd that was his cue.

"Gorgeous, interesting, you're such a flirt~" He had shifted back laying on the ground with his hands tucked behind his head in a relaxed pose, though he was blushing. "Nice to meetcha!"

[identity profile] caringcassie.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Cassie let out a soft cry as the dog she'd been petting turned into a person. Even with all the strange things she'd seen, she had not been expecting that.

"I... Hi," Cassie managed to mumble, a bit thrown off by the shapeshifter's carefree attitude and still trying to make sense of what she'd just seen. In a way, it was almost like morphing, except that it was far cleaner then any morphing that she'd ever seen or experienced (And everyone had always told her that she had a special talent for morphing.), which was rarely a pretty experience, and the only time she'd ever seen anyone go directly from one morph to another it had been completely out of control. This clearly was not. "It's nice to meet you too. May... I ask your name?"

"You bet!" He brought his legs up and sprung to his feet swiftly, "I'm Beastboy! Formerly of the Teen Titans, now co-leader of the Outsiders, and total party animal." He stuck out a hand, then shifted into gorilla form to shake her hand with a goofy grin.

[identity profile] caringcassie.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, it's very nice to meet you," Cassie said, extending her hand as well and giggling a little at Beastboy's antics. She offered him another smile.

"I'm... Cassie." There had been a moment of hesitation before offering her name, but she couldn't see the harm in telling him just that. He was... different then most of the people she had known, but she liked him.

[identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
He shifted back, "Nice to meet you! I mean the situation kinda sucks but you're in the best place.

And yet he felt an odd sort of Deja Vu at the whole thing. No worries though, that was normal around here.

"So, ever saved the universe before?"

[identity profile] caringcassie.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
"I hope that I'll get used to this soon," Cassie confided, "Right now I'm sort of having a hard time dealing with it."

"No, never the universe," Cassie told him still smiling, although it was a bit more strained now. She didn't like the path this conversation was taking now. She didn't want to end up talking about the war until she had the chance to speak with the others more, but she also didn't want to lie to her new friend if she could help it. She hated to lie and she hated how much a part of her life lying had become. And she really didn't want to spoil this new friendship by throwing lies into the mix. "How about you? What are the Teen Titans and the Outsiders? I've never heard the names before, but I'd love to hear about them." This was true and, she hoped that by directing the conversation towards Beastboy, she could keep the focus off herself.

[identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Talking about himself? Easy!

"Well the Titans were like my family back home. We fought crime, saved the world a bunch of times. But the Outsider's is what we have here on Stacy. It's kind of like a club for kids and teens who want to make friends and stuff. We help with training if you need it, or lend an ear if you need to talk. It's pretty cool even if we don't do much."

Beastboy had no idea that it sounded vaguely like a pitch for "The Sharing".

"We've got this hotel base thing in the city that's totally awesome! Swimming pool, movie theater, and big comfy rooms which beat the heck out of the little rooms Stacy has on her other decks."

[identity profile] caringcassie.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Cassie started off listening to Beastboy with a smile on her face, but it began to fade when he started talking about the Outsiders. Memories of "The Sharing" and its purpose clouded her thoughts.

Worry overtook her and suddenly she desperately wished that she could speak with her friends. Had she misjudged this Beastboy? She had thought...

Forcing a smile again, Cassie directed herself to listen back in, nodding and silently encouraging him to continue talking.

[identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Coarse it's pretty open membership...we don't even really have like a list of who's there. We just leave the building open and if people want to help one another they do." He laughed at how poorly run the little club was. "I only really ended up as co-captain because I had experience." He shrugged "Anyway the Outsiders are just a small part of the ship, we've got the techies who build stuff, farmers who keep our plants and animals alive, fighters, doctors, time travelers, pilots, giant robots! Basically if you've seen it in an action, sci fi or fantasy movie we've got it. Even some zombies. But don't worry they won't eat you...I think."

[identity profile] caringcassie.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing Beastboy had said had done anything to ease Cassie's troubled mind. The Sharing had also pretended that it was nothing more then good wholesome fun and that it was accepting of everyone. It had all be a lie, a ruse to gather more potential Controllers.

But, then again, perhaps she was just being paranoid. Just because that had been the purpose of the Sharing didn't mean that every club of that sort was the same. Still, she couldn't quite force the unease from her mind.

It was her turn to speak again. She didn't want to look odd just in case her suspicions turned out to be true, so she needed to get through the conversation without raising any concern's from her companion. Besides, she didn't want to ruin the budding friendship if it turned out that she was indeed just being paranoid.

"Wow, this ship sounds incredible," Cassie responded. "There's so much to see." Shooting him a curious look and, for a moment, forgetting her suspicions, she asked him eagerly, "You mentioned that there were farmers who took care of the animals. Where are the animals located?" She already missed her family's barn with all the animals that they'd cared for there. It would be odd to wake up every morning and not have them there waiting for her to come feed and care for them. But, at least she might be able to go visit these animals. Then she hesitated again though. "What are they kept there for?"

[identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh that place is called Hydroponics, I can show you if you like?" He offered before continuing, "Some of them are kept for food and others just because it's important to take care of the animals we have. Their alien things but they kinda resemble Earth animals you know? Like um...hold on..."

He focused for a moment and shifted into an alien dog thing he had seen once.

Said critter wagged it's nubby little tail and wiggled it's nose at Cassie before he shifted back. "We hit up this planet a while back, it was like a giant mall with these guys who were buying everything! Hair, organs, even copies of my memories. I made sure they gave me copies on disc though." He winked, "It's like a autobiography."

[identity profile] caringcassie.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Cassie twitched a little bit at the reference to keeping some of the animals for food, but she shoved the thought aside. She'd long since gotten over the fact that, just because she was a vegetarian, didn't mean that most other people would be as well (And, in fact, most of her friends were not vegetarians. She'd long ago learned to cope.). It would make sense that some animals would be kept aboard for that purpose, even though it still made her sad.

Still, she was certainly interested by the brief description to the alien animals and the demonstration that Beastboy performed. "Yes, I think that I'd like to see the place if you'd be willing to show me." Well, at least, after she got confirmation from her friends that Beastboy was a safe.

She actually laughed when she heard his description of this mall-like planet and wondered idly if it was the same one that she'd been too. Probably not, but how many planets could there be like that? "Yes, it is like an autobiography, I suppose. That sounds like an... interesting world."

[identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
"You bet! I'll even show you where they grow the Tofu." He winked "A vegetarians delicacy." Beastboy was oblivious to Cassie's own preferences but he never missed a chance to try and convert someone to his choice of vegetarian diet.

"Oh it totally was, I bought all kinds of alien candy and soda off this guy, I think his name was Iskoort. I'm almost out though I hope we get to stop again soon."

[identity profile] caringcassie.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Are you a vegetarian too?" Cassie was surprised, but pleased. "I'd like to see that. Thank you!"

And that answered that question. How odd to be reminded of that time on the Iskroot world here of all places! She almost chimed in her own thoughts based on her experiences, but decided to hold her tongue. How in the world was she going to explain her experiences with the Iskroot and the Howlers without causing Beastboy to wonder about her own abilities?

(OOC: Sorry for posting again! Annoying writing errors.)

[identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh totally, I mean I've been most the animals people eat! It feels wrong! But I'm also like the only Vegetarian I know, except you now!" He grinned a toothy grin. "Yeah I had to beg one of the farmer dudes to start growing soy beans and stuff but it worked out!"

[identity profile] caringcassie.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Cassie smiled and nodded at that. She had been a vegetarian even before she had gained the ability to morph, but she could certainly understand his line of thinking. How could you eat an animal once you had seen through its eyes, heard with its ears, and smelled with its nose? It was a truly incredible experience. A life-changing one really. She just wished that it had come without the war attached.

"Well, I'm glad that you did. Thank you. That will make things much more pleasant."

[identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"You bet!" He gave her a thumbs up.

"Anyway come on plenty to do! First things first we should see if you've got any friends lurking about. People from your world you know? If they aren't here they'll be on the mission with a bunch of others. They sent them out on some mission not to long ago. Kind of a big deal this time I guess, clones being created and enslaved or something."

[identity profile] caringcassie.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, that's a good idea," Cassie nodded, but she then hesitated. This might be a good opportunity to split up without causing any suspicion on his part. "I know that at least a couple of my friends are here. I... met up with them before. We split up to search, but they'll be waiting for me now. I should go to them, but I don't want to get in your way. Given that there are so many people here who would benefit from your knowledge, it might be best for us to split up now. I'll go to my friends on my own, as long as you don't mind. Thank you for everything. I hope to see you again."

When Cassie smiled at him it was a genuine one, even with her suspicions, which she hoped were completely false. She really had enjoyed speaking with him, but she needed to know more about all these strangers on the ship before she started trusting anyone.
