Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

The dog nodded and shifted into a cat, then a bird, a gorilla, an octopus, and then a much larger stallion. The form he used when he wanted to run fast.

"Wow-wee," Applejack answered, eventually climbing up on her hooves when he seemed to be done. "That's really something, but I'm happy just being a pony. Taken me years to get good at what I need to do."

She didn't say exactly what she did, but her 'tattoo' and name were clues.

He shifted back, "It's got it's perks. But it took me alot of practice too."

Wiggling his ears cheerfully, "So what about you? Are you some kind of cowgirl...err...well I guess your a ponygirl but I mean...you know." He pointed at his head indicating her hat.

"Anything worth doing does," Applejack smiled back. "Gotta get a little dirty to get through cleaner the next time."

She tipped her hat once more, turning to put the little apple mark on display. "I'm just a farm pony from Sweet Apple Acres," she answered. "We buck apples, sell apples, and make apple treats. I've been told y'all got some apple trees around here, and I'll take good care of 'em."

Oh, she could fight too, but the apples would always be a large part of her identity.

"Apples? Sweet!" Literally in some cases, "It's been a long time since I've had one actually." He rubbed his hands together with a grin, "I know where I'm going after we're done here."

"Food's pretty scarce around here, so we're lucky to have a pro like you."

"Well shoot. I'll call you over when I've got an apple tree ready to be harvested. We'll see about making an apple treat if I can find the ingredients."

Applejack bowed her head modestly. "Aww, it's no trouble at all. I love farming. I might be used to eatin' slop, but I figure y'all aren't."

"Well it's not too awful if you've got the right sauce." Beastboy dug around in some unseen pocket pulling out his favorite bottle of soy sauce. "And whenever we get close enough to a planet we get some money to go down and buy supplies." He thought for a moment.

"Oh, that reminds me! We've got a restaurant and a Tavern, if you need ingredients they might be able to help you in that department."

"Oh, sounds swell! I'll ask 'em if they want any apple cider or apple snacks. Once I've got the trees going, it'll be ready in a hurry."

Applejack was proud to serve. "You oughta come by for a drink, we make some great cider."

Beastboy licked his lips eagerly, "Aw dude Cider is great, especially in the fall you know? Crunchy leaves, crisp air and warm Cider." He was suddenly nostalgic for his homeworld.

"Then I'll see that you get yours nice and warm," Applejack grinned.

"Last time I made it was just after the Running of the Leaves. We got all those leaves off the trees, trotted back to the farm, and everypony had a great time."

He wasn't the only nostalgic one.

"Running of the leaves? How do leaves run?" He puzzled and struggled trying to imagine ow that worked.

Garbled memories of Pinkie Pie's cheerful commentary entered her mind then. Applejack smiled, remembering that old day.

"I know it sounds silly, but the leaves don't run, they fall. Ponies run so the force of all that running shakes the trees enough for their leaves to come down. That way we can start the winter on time."

"Huh..." Beastboy pictured it in his head, it sounded pretty amazing, "But what do you mean starting Winter on time? Winter doesn't just...happen?" That's how it worked where he came from anyway.

"Naw, we ponies are in charge of everything around Equestria. We've got pegasus ponies to move the clouds for the weather, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna to raise the sun and moon every day, and we're in charge of teh seasons changing. We bring the winter with the leaf-running, and then the spring with a winter wrap-up! Then Princess Celestia uses her magic to light up the first day of summer."

As far as the fall celebration...well, that one just happened naturally. Strange.

"That's pretty cool actually!" He seemed impressed, "So not only are you ponies, but you control the world. Really awesome!"

"Nothing a little hard work can't get done. Now we just have to work at bringing it all back."

That would be the tricky part, of course. But Beastboy wasn't going to give up and neither was she.
