Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

And Mark had tried to kill Peter twice now. Which was far worse than just having to run off every so often. "These things called the Ohm destroyed the universe. Well, multiple uinverses," Thus explaining stuff like the draconian and the viking, "but ours too. Stacy rescued a bunch of people with various useful abilities, and their families and friends."

"Basically, we've been recruited to stop the Ohm and attempt to restore our universes."

That did answer most of his questions, but there was still something he had to know. "Where's Mary Jane and Liz then? And why pick you anyway? You're normal."

"Not awake yet. Stacy's AI core was damaged, and she's unable to restore the data for who exactly is all down there, so she's just been pulling people out at random."

"And I am really, really, smart. Stacy didn't just rescue people who can fight. Whoever picked us picked up scientists, doctor and engineers." Peter honestly did not want Mark to know about the Spider-Man thing yet. Not if he could avoid it. And it wasn't technically a lie, since Peter had long since assumed that his brain was part of the reason he'd been rescued, even if the large majority of it was the fact that he was Spider-Man.

"But they're safe right, where they are?" His own mood changed from one of annoyance to sadness. He did feel a bit guilty about how things ended up between Mary Jane and Liz.

"Since I woke up? I've had my ribs broken," He said, counting off on what had happened to him so far on his fingers, "been brainwashed, had my arm broken, been kidnapped, been pistol-whipped by the people who kidnapped me, and nearly was a human sacrifice. They're safer asleep than they are awake."

"One thing, Peter. Do you think this 'Stacy' is trustworthy or no?" The more he heard about this situation the less he liked it.

[identity profile] puny-parker.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Kinda depends. Apparently the current AI was laid over top one that was in use when this was a prison ship. The one we usually interact with?We can probably trust her to tell her what she knows, but a lot of the info's apparently locked up in the Warden persona, which isn't trustworthy," which was probably worse than having it be completely one or the other.

"Speaking of? Spider-Man's here. Two of him actually, it's weird alternate universe thing, but the one from our world is one of them. You try to kill him again and you will be dealing with the Warden AI."

And therein lies the rub... "About that... You don't know the full story of how and why I tried to kill Spider-Man. When I owed Blackie Gaxton money, the only way to square that debt away was to go through some science experiment and that's how I got my superskin. But what I didn't know is that the Green Goblin was controlling it through some kind of remote. The only way I could get it back would be to kill Spider-Man. I didn't really have a choice."

[identity profile] livingontheweb.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter's eyes widened. "Wait, the Goblin? Norman Osborn was responsible?" Peter said, momentarily forgetting that Mark probably wouldn'tve found out about that yet. "Huh. Now it's actually, kinda understandable. It was immensely stupid to think anything involving the Goblin was a good idea, but understandable."

"...Okay, we're gonna have to figure out a way to stop him from controlling you. Don't suppose the remote was with your stuff, was it?"

[identity profile] slagyouwebhead.livejournal.com 2011-07-04 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Norman Osborn is the Goblin?!" Mark said in a bit of surprise. "As for the remote, no. It wasn't with my stuff."

[identity profile] puny-parker.livejournal.com 2011-07-04 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Well...was." Peter said, not knowing about Norman faking his death ans having seen the second Goblin.

"Harry said Spider-Man killed him, but knowing Spidey as well as I do, I'm actually completely sure it wasn't intentional."

"But given how Stacy likes to pull people from different points in time, the fact that he's dead means squat." he warned. "We still have to fix your power issue. If I can get a blood sample I might be able to figure out who to send you to."

[identity profile] slagyouwebhead.livejournal.com 2011-07-05 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Mark shifted his feet uncomfortably. "I know he's Harry's dad, but he is seriously messed up. Hopefully, he stays dead." Yeah. He doesn't miss the Goblin one bit. "I agree with that. If I can control this skin and powers, I won't have to worry about some remote that the Goblin uses. You know this science stuff better than me, at any rate."
