Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

As stupid as this conversation was? It was something simple and Jinx was going to savor it before allowing her mind to wander back to the depressing truth of the matter.

"At least you got to keep your cell phone, all I was given back was my hair bands." She remarked wistfully. "I would of liked my old communicator at least. It was like a cell phone but with video and some other functions."

Handcrafted by one of her few friends in the world who was probably dead now, or in those pods.

Well, mostly Joshua was trying to humor Jinx here. He could tell that this was a simple conversation, however other things aside, he seemed to be enjoying it enough.

"I'm not sure of how the system here works," he began, his gaze shifting a bit. "but, perhaps it has something to do with fortune being a part of it?"

Oh, his cell phone was far from ordinary. It had some... otherworldly abilities on it all on its' own.

"If all we have is our fortune to fall back on I'd say we're pretty much out of luck in that department." She cast her eyes around, "Seems to me like the voice that saved us is just throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. Does this look like a universe saving group to you?" She gestured to some of the less intimidating looking individuals, even if she knew better then to doubt their hidden talents.

Ah, Jinx. You just said perhaps the right thing or the wrong thing to Joshua. A warm, but at the same time chilled chuckle came from him, the same facial expression not falling from his face.

"Would you really doubt the crew?" he asks, turning his full attention on to the teenager in front of him. "They would know more than we do in this current situation, so in order to easily doubt them right off the bat is rather foolish of someone."

"Oh I don't doubt their information, and I don't doubt they have some use...everyone does if you try hard enough." She didn't even bat an eyelash at his comment and felt surprisingly confident despite the unfamiliar situation, "But this is hardly a crack force of power and discipline. And have you noticed yet? You can tell with some of them if they've given up on the mission or not when they greet you." Something she herself had been troubled with. If they had lost hope what chance did fresh blood have in solving the problem.

"Then, one would have to open their mind and stop being so narrow minded," he replied in a bored sounding way. "That would be the source of their downfall, after all."

To add on to his antics was a slight hair flip just to brush it out a bit, or to show that he was getting a little tired of this conversation, but he'd grin and bare it. Messing with others was always fun.

...ok now she wasn't having as much fun.

"You're pretty confident for someone who's just gotten here." She remarked tryingto hide her annoyance at the comments and insinuations.

[identity profile] shotyoutwice.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why shouldn't I be? Being too distraught is something that might as well contribute to a downfall, and considering our current situation, the less downfalls we have, the better."

"But a healthy dose of cynicism wouldn't hurt. Are you that quick to trust others?" Which she realized could mean a number of things if he was. The first and this was more or less what he was putting out there with his emotions, was that he was aloof and carefree among other things.

The second being that if he was so relaxed, why? Was it just part of his personality? Or did he have an ace up his sleeve?

[identity profile] shotyoutwice.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Let me ask you the same question, but in a roundabout way. Are you that quick to distrust others?" Joshua asked, shifting a bit in his current position.

"And, a healthy dose of cynicism may be fine and well, but in the grand scheme of things, it wouldn't really aid oneself all that much."

[identity profile] badluckbabe.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Absolutely." Jinx responded playfully, "Assume the worst in people, that way you'll be pleasantly surprised when they aren't that bad."

"So I see," Joshua said, sighing a little bit. "Well, I'd love to stay and chat, but I have to see if anyone I know is around here. See you around, miss."

He then turned on his heel and walked away, going back on his original task of finding a familiar face through this crowd.
