'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Kyle rubbed his forehead as he walked. This was turning into a very strange day, and that was saying something by the standards of his life. Looking around the room he tried to find anyone he could recognize. No luck so far. Maybe if he just stayed put somebody would explain exactly what was going on.

[identity profile] restoresbalance.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Something--a ripple in the Force, a familiar tug at his mind--had brought Luke from the hangar, where he'd been working on the X-Wing assigned to him, back to the observation deck. Sometimes, Luke wished he wasn't a bit shorter than average; it was difficult to see over everyone's heads.

But between shoulders and shifting people he spotted a face he knew well. "Kyle Katarn!" he called, smiling and waving to get the other Jedi's attention.

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Now that was a familiar face, and probably one the Kyle was most glad to see. "Luke!" he shouted back as he made his way over to his fellow Jedi. "I am very very glad to see you."

[identity profile] restoresbalance.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Me too, Master--" Luke paused. This Kyle Katarn looked a lot younger than the man he remembered, the one that had been with the Order through many trials. "Kyle. I'm glad to see you made it here too."

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Kyle smiled, but had to wonder to himself when had Luke gotten so old. "This place been getting to you? You look like you've added more than a few grey hairs."

It was the first podpop since Tycho had arrived, and he strode towards the observation deck, curious about what it would be like from the other side. He scanned the crowd, not really expecting a familiar face anymore, when ...

"Kyle?" The shorter pilot moved towards the Jedi Master. "Kyle is that you?"

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Haha Tycho you too?" Kyle smiled and offered his hand to the pilot. Another familiar face. It was comforting, but a bit concerning as well. "And yeah it's me. Can you tell me what's going on?"

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Tycho shook the Jedi's hand firmly. "Glad to have another familiar face," he said, his own split by a wide smile. "We could really use all the help we can get."

At Kyle's question, his expression feel. Oh, so this is what it felt like, having to be the one doing the telling. "It's ..." he sighed, pushing his hand over his face and into his hair before letting it drop again. "As far as we know, everything Stacy told you was true. Our universes are gone, and we're on some sort of inter-dimensional ... refugee ship. Not everyone is gone, some people survived ... Wedge is here, and Luke, and Jaina, but ... the rest of our universe ..." Tycho shrugged, his mouth a grim flat line.

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
That was bad. It couldn't be worse than that. "Did Winter or Jan make it?" It only seemed polite to ask after both of their women.

Watching Master Katarn move through the crowd, Ben caught sight of another familiar-but-unfamiliar face. "General Celchu?" he called.

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Tycho's eyebrows shot upwards as he thought he heard his name called. He turned and found the source in a red-haired boy. "That's me," he said with a careful smile, "only it's just Colonel Celchu ..."

He looked the boy up and down curiously. It wasn't anyone he recognized. "Have we met ...?"

[identity profile] sithhavecooties.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Colonel. Alright, so that wasn't a perfect timestamp, but it was enough to let Ben know that the pilot, like Master Katarn, was a fish out of temporal water. "I don't think so," he said, shaking his head. "But I'm pretty sure you know my dad."

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Arha felt the Force pull her once more and her eyes were alight with the sheer glee of it. Jed-Eye. They never failed to glow, to burn, to pull her toward them like gravity. It was more so now that she was a Jed-Eye paddyone and even if Obi-Wan was always telling her to have restraint, she rarely had any when it came to identifying and welcoming new faces when they were so wonderfully full of the Force.

And this was Jed-Eye.

This one.

Abruptly, the bundle of joy known as Arha Masaari had launched herself at the man, all hugs and wordless welcome. Obi-Wan could chastise her later, should he wish. But this? This was welcoming family.

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Kyle let out a startled yell before looking down at what had just hugged him. Clearly he needed to be on his toes some more. "Um hello? Let me guess I know you in the future right?"

While not used to being greeted like that it certainly beat a load of blasters pointed his way.

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Arha let out a bright burst of laugher.

"I should apologize, perhaps," she said. "But it is so good to see Jed-Eye in this place. I am always so very pleased to find another." Arha blinked up at him with bright blue-within-blue eyes and flashed a grin before releasing him. "I am not originally from your universe, but I am paddyone to Obi-Wan Kenobi. I would welcome you to this ship, though this is not the most optimal of conditions to be meeting new people in. I wish it were better."

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"It's alright," he said as he got a good look at the woman finally. He had never seen eyes like that before. At least not on anyone that looked that human. "And I find times of trouble are the best to make new friends. Kyle Katarn pleased to meet you. So you're a student of Kenobi's?"

It was always interesting to see who was coming from the pods. Every time there was one Gwen ventured down to the obs deck in hopes of seeing someone that she knew. Maybe someone from her unit, another Browncoat, anything to give her that feeling of having someone from home there. With her hand stuffed deep within the pockets of her brown coat she walked around looking at the faces when someone out of the corner of her eye caught her attention.

Stopping for half a second the red haired woman paused to watch the scruffy looking man. Was that Hunter? It looked exactly like him. A little older, but she would have known his face anywhere. A wide smile split Gwen's face in half as she bolted for the man intent on tackling him to the ground in a bear hug. "Hunter! Hunter- over here!"

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Kyle caught sight of the woman just in time to brace himself. He had to wonder how many times this would happen to him today. Of course it had always been young attractive women so far. Jan was going to kill him just for thinking that. "Sorry I think you have me confused for someone else."

Offering his hand he smiled. "Kyle Katarn, and you are?"

[identity profile] browncoatdevil.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
"I can't believe you're here! And look at you! Ain't no beanpole no more are you, Sprou-" Whatever Gwen had been about to say was cut short, looking up at the bearded man with now wide eyes. She was hugging a man that looked exactly like the genius mechanic Hunter Williams had looked like just older. Instantly her cheeks started to blush bright red in a color that could almost rival her hair. "Ah.. Oh. Sure you ain't just pullin' a little joke on me or somethin? Because you sure do look like him."

Dropping her arms back to her side Gwen took a respectable distance between this Kyle Katarn finding keeping them there was just going to make her antsy. So instead she crossed her arms tight across her chest simply studying the man from head to toe. Oh she was so going to be mad at Stacy if this was a case of mistaken identity.

Arms slung together and tucked in at the stomach, Jaina ambled through the steady throng of people, taking in the new faces and keeping an eye out for familiar ones. She could sense the presence of two in particular, thanks to the Force, and it for was those she was keeping beady-eyed.

"Master Katarn?" another face younger than she remembered, "Master Katarn, is that you?"

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Kyle felt a familiar presence, and the voice certainly tipped him off. Turning around he was a little surprised how much older she was than he remembered. At least Tycho had warned him. "Hey there Jaina, and yeah it's me."

[identity profile] jediwiseass.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Finally!" she gesticulated theatrically so as to hide how genuinely relieved she was to run into someone from home who didn't first look at her like she was a complete stranger, "Someone who actually recognises me! By the Force, I don't know what skincare routine you're all using, but it's working wonders. Not a crow's foot in sight."

The presence of Jedi was unmistakable in the force, and each time a new one awoke in the pod rooms, Obi-Wan knew it. He smiled faintly at nothing from his position against the wall and took a step towards the presence— only to be half-blindsided by Arha's habitual tide of enthusiasm upon finding a 'Jed-Eye.'

Ah, well. There was no helping some things. Obi-Wan let her finish and gave Kyle a moment to recover before approaching him with a friendly, "Hello there."

He was Jedi, there would be no mistaking him for anything else. The robes were a dead giveaway, even without the cloak.

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-04-04 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Kyle never did understand the appeal of the robes. He never felt like he could move right in them. That said he might take them over this plantsuit. "Hello I don't think we've ever met before. I'm Kyle Katarn, nice to meet you."

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2010-04-05 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Obi-Wan had grown up in those robes, and had never worn anything else by preference unless circumstances demanded it. True, he was wearing the plantsuit underneath, but only because Stacy became irate if he did not.

"Likewise, I'm very sure," He replied, tucking his hands into his sleeves, "I am Obi-Wan Kenobi. You must have some questions."
