thewunderkind: (Building - Tank)

City Exploring [CLOSED]

Who: Gamzee, Tavros, Karkat, Volanz, Lash
Where: The City
Summary: Wunderkind show the Trolls around the City and discovers that discarded concert venues are apparently the PROMISED LAND. Perfect place to build a hive?
Warnings: Gamzee and Karkat have potty mouths. Lash will probably not be able to resist replying back in force.

It had been a small while since she had seen them during the poddrop. Lash had been busy with this and that and probably things in the sensoriums. Regardless, she hadn't forgotten what she said about the pod-slime things they so loved to sleep in and now that they were mostly built, it was time to go around finding a place to set up camp. Or well, what they called a hive. Whatever. They were kinda weird.

Well, Tavros and Gamzee were nice enough. She hadn't heard about this Volanz guy, so hopefully he wasn't like Karkat. After sending them out a message on the com-system, the Wunderkind had waited near the entrance of Level 4. She had her Neoneotank with her (Mark S after the first one exploding during the battles a while ago) and sat on top of it, having arrived much faster than the time she had given them. The vehicle was able to go much faster than the one before, and, she hoped, they'd be able to push the boundaeries of the explored area and come upon something interesting. Or fun. Maybe not too dangerous.

Then again, danger was fun!

Either way, it was gonna make for an interesting ride.

Volanz was, to be entirely honest, sort of afraid of the City. He wasn't terrified of it, that would just be silly, but he was not the most adaptable of people. The number of tall, unnatural things that blocked his view of the (fake) horizon and the too-friendly, warm, nondestructive (and also fake) daylight bothered him.

He was absolutely not going to turn down being shown around by an alien that knew what to do with the place. It could only make things better, right?

So it was that Volanz found himself at the entrance to Level 4. He peered doubtfully out into the open space for a moment before catching sight of Lash and the weird conveyance she was perched on.

Volanz hesitated for just a moment, then padded over.

"You're Lash, right?" he asked. He was pretty sure she was, but it was the first thing he could think of to say.

The City made Karkat nervous, too, but for different reasons. Trolls were nocturnal by necessity, and the presence of a sun--even if it was a much milder sun than the one that burned down on Alternia--set him on edge.

He was also not a fan of this Lash person, but hell if he was going to let his friends be corrupted by her strange afro human ways. So obviously that meant he was going to supervise this little excursion.

So here he was, stomping up to the entrance and regarding Lash's tank with equal with equal parts suspicion and apprehension.

"Different trolls have different shaped horns," he answered, crossing his arms and not particularly caring if the question was not directed at him.

Volanz frowned to himself, wondering what a Black Hole Force was, but he got distracted off that topic pretty quickly.

"Hi Karkat," he said, briefly making eye contact before continuing with his habitual posture of inferiority.

"Oh. They're not necessarily crooked, I think?" he added to Lash, nervously tapping one of his horns with a finger. "I think they're pretty much supposed to be that way. They've been that way as long as I can really remember? But they are not even. A lot of trolls have even horns. I guess I am just not one of those?"

He shrugged. At least they were pointy.

Gamzee wasn't far behind. Unfortunately, he was made so dizzied by the ride here that he collapsed over on his face when attempting to make even a single first step for trollkind. Okay maybe not trollkind in general seeing as there were already trolls afoot, but you get the picture.

And accompanying Gamzee was Tavros, smiling as if it would make all of the weird go away.

"Uh, hi," he greeted everyone, completely oblivious to the conversation that was taking place prior to their arrival.

Volanz wasn't especially animated. He nodded to Gamzee and Tavros, though he wasn't one to wave. Gang's all here.

"I guess that would depend," said Volanz cautiously, "on what tanks do?"

Tavros did not say anything to the query related to tanks. He hadn't ever seen anything like it before nor had he heard the term 'tank' be applied to a vehicle similar in bulk, style, or function, but maybe Volanz's question was valid in that sense. (Unless, of course, Lash actually was referring to a tank, as in the large receptacle in which one keeps liquids or otherwise... That didn't look like that kind of tank.)

The brown-blooded troll rolled to a halt in front of Lash's weapon and stared at it, clearly unfamiliar with the appearance of it.

"Yeah, very impressive," he sneered, clearly unimpressed but perhaps a little frightened--not that he would ever show it, of course.

"Are we going to get on with this or not?"

[personal profile] laughsassinate 2012-02-07 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Gamzee like Karkat was a little intimidated by the bulky death machine, but wasn't reserved about letting that be known. "I dunno... You sure it's safe to go in?" He had already recovered from his facedown fiasco and stood now, but the way he supported himself slumped over like that could reel in bets about him teetering to the ground all over again.

After that description and demonstration of destructive potential, Volanz decided it was probably safer inside the tank than out here while the thing was on.

"It explodes other things, not itself?" he said, shrugging, and climbed inside. He found a spot to sit and tried to make himself relax.

The key word there being "tried".

Karkat stayed at the entrance to the tank for a long moment, not entirely comfortable with a vehicle of such magnitude, especially if it was meant to explode things.

But hell if he was going to let that show, pushing past Gamzee to take a seat inside the tank.

[personal profile] laughsassinate 2012-02-13 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
As if Gamzee really NEEDED to be placed inside anything that would go so fast he wouldn't believe his eyes. The transport tubes had already been a doozy. For crying's sake, he nearly lost his footing when Karkat shoved past! All Gamzee muttered in response was an "Auuuh..." at the thought of even more zooming around as he chose to follow suit and hop into the back of the neotank anyway.

It was pretty lucky that the tank was accessible by Tavros. That way, he could avoid any embarrassment involved with not being able to get in like the rest of his friends so easily managed. But anyway, he would just take that and let it go because it wasn't that big of a deal to him, especially since he didn't want to think about that too much.

He entered the tank after Gamzee did, looking to Lash just before he continued, almost as though he were asking permission. He went ahead and climbed into the tank anyway. It was probably safer in there anyway, but that was not his predominant thought.

Karkat was, of course, already impatient.

"Let's just fucking go somewhere," he growled, eager to get this trip underway. The sooner they got to where they were going, the sooner he could get out of this screaming metal death trap.

"Plant temple sounds like a legitimate enough name, probably," Tavros commented lowly and offhandedly, trying to get a look at the fixture in question.

It looked... mystical. Dang.
