If You Need a Doctor, I'll Examine Every Inch of You [Phys Evals; Open]

Ever since the medical briefing on the comms, the medical bay staff has been preparing for an influx of appointments for physical evaluations, as well as a few walk-ins. After that, the hunt will be on for those who've been skipping such appointments.

A few of the staff members are going about their regular duties, expecting patients or simply biding time at the coffee machine until they're called on.

Rainbow Dash shot into the department in a woosh, pulling herself up and to a halt in midair. A moment later, the streaks left by her tail caught up to her as she dropped lightly to the ground.

"So is there a line, or do I have to put on a gown? How do non-ponies handle this sort of thing?"

"It depends on if you actually want a check-up, or just want to give us enough information to take care of you if you get shot or roboted or whatever." Howard points over to a clear space in the med bay - no reason to put her on a table. "Figure you probably don't have to wear a gown. I'm not great with horses but I do know the basics."

Barbara entered the medical bay with a curious look around. When was the last time she'd seen a Doctor? Probably when she had that awful flu a few months before leaving in the TARDIS. She didn't particularly like medical doctors with all their poking and prodding. However, since she'd visited a number of different times and planets, she could have contracted anything, really. And she'd possibly be punished if she didn't have an examination.

So the historian took a seat, folded her hands in her lap and waited patiently to be seen.

Howard at work is a cut more professional than he is just wandering around. That doesn't mean he's totally on-topic, though - he has a book on alien anatomy open, but he's doodling in the margins.

"Hey-" he pauses as he realizes he hasn't given Barbara a nickname yet. He'll have to find one. He hands Barbara a clipboard with some basic medical history to fill out, name and age and all that. "You here for the eval?"

Maria walked into the department with a wary look, she was told everyone had to deal with this but really gave off an aura of someone who did not want to be there and didn't seem comfortable with it.

"So um... I'm here. What now?"

"To start, there's this basic survey." Sakura held out a data pad with the blank interface of the medical information form. "Any special conditions related to your health, past or present, special dietary needs, things we as medics should be aware of when it comes to dealing with injuries of yours... there's more we have to ask about here than we would back on my world. Species and susceptibility differences, things like that."

Well, he'd figured something like this was coming. Really, Roger was surprised they hadn't had doctors on standby at the podpop, for immediate evaluations.

"Reporting for examination as per the briefing."

Soren eyed Roger dispassionately. Well, at least he was human. "A soldier? Step up against that wall there, please, and I'll measure your height."

Hopefully this would be over with quickly. He disliked having to actually interact with his patients.

Ugh, this was going to be annoying. She had met Howard before though, and since he was at least as cynical as she was and had actually told her he'd keep things confidential, he was her best bet.

So he'll probably find Mindy Macready in a hoodie right now, looking fairly antisocial right now.

Howard doesn't blame her even a little. He enjoyed his physical evaluation about as much as locker rooms in high school, which is to say, not at all. So he's not going to try and push Mindy's buttons any.

"You know the drill. Lungs, joints, heart, blood cultures if you want them, urine test if you want it, eyes, ears, mouth, scanners and paperwork."

Tobias half-glided into the room, flaring his wings and losing most of the little momentum he had to land semi-gracefully on one of the medical beds. He peered around the room, then gave the nearest person a raptor stare.

Sakura stared back, quirking up an eyebrow. "Thanks for coming in," she said lightly. "Tobias. Have you ever had a check-up as a hawk before?"

This shit again. But she'd promised Howie and she supposed she had to, so here she was. Looking very surly and unhappy.

Just because she was doing it didn't mean she wasn't going to be passive-aggressive about.

"Hey, Fangs." Howard's voice is actually a little soft when he sees her. Not pitying, god no, because that's as good as asking Karis to punch him in the face, but sympathetic. "Don't worry, I'm not going to stick you in a paper gown or anything."

While Mark was a bit suspicious about doctors in general, he knew that if he tried to avoid it he'd be sent in kicking and screaming. What with the whole nanites in his blood stream made him even more nervous but he hoped that whoever saw him will keep it a secret. "Huh. I'm here for the physical."

Carson is more or less portraying an open expression, smiling politely. "That's good. I'm Dr. Beckett." He motions over to a bed. "If you'd like to come this way, I'll get started on the examination."

His voice is accented Scottish, but is clear, professional and friendly.

Kais was actually told it might be a good idea to see a doctor. He was firmly against it but it kept nagging at him. A physical evaluation he would get but he also wanted a referal to someone who could help him with another problem, whether it be physical or mental. That he didn't know.

So he sat and waited for his turn. Physical exams were a common thing in Tau society so he was prepared for it at any rate.

What WOULD the kunoichi find out? How far did her knowledge and studies go? And if she went far enough, past what she already knew into what Orochimaru truly was...

Well, he looked forward to seeing it, as he waited silently in the department.

Sakura looked up from where she'd been updating a patient file, catching sight of someone she wasn't all that enthused to see. Orochimaru could likely tell, with the careful neutrality of her expression with just that telling hint of displeasure, but she kept her tone polite enough.

"Orochimaru, if you're ready for your evaluation?"

How-How

He came in for regular checkups still. Having your stomach torn open by an alien parasite did cause some long-term concerns; he sometimes had very bad muscle spasms in his abdomen that needed some relief in the form of muscle relaxants. He'd also been stabbed, shot, conked on the head, and generally knocked around much more than he should have been, and that wasn't even counting the fact he'd lost his leg before he'd even been picked up by the ship.

Lately, Hiccup had been feeling...off. Not entirely with it. His concentration was utterly shot, and he'd been having trouble sleeping and staying asleep. Occasionally his hands shook--which was a major problem where his blacksmithing was concerned--and it was starting to leave him a little worried about his health.

Altogether, it was too overwhelming to really deal with on top of all his responsibilities, which was why he'd quietly tendered his resignation from the Council and withdrawn from most of the things he was usually involved in other than the forge.

After everything that had happened, he just hoped that this whole shaky hands, insomniacal, foggy-headed thing wasn't something serious--he'd had enough seriousness for a whole lifetime, at this point.

"Hey, you've been here before." Howard puts down the new patient paperwork and digs into a filing cabinet until he pulls up Hiccup's file. He gives it a skim. "Jeez, think you had enough awful happen to you?"

Howard gestures to a seat. It occurs to him that it should feel a little odd to administrate any sort of medical advice to the Council (who not only are a position of a authority, but a position of authority that he routinely badmouths for having the audacity to exist). Then again, Hiccup's resigned, so that should mean that they're effectively equals again.

"How's the gut muscles treating you?"

Usually Lash was more than okay with physicals! Like really, for very really, but this time she was going to ask a few embarrassing questions, so she went straight for the only girl in the group Soren Sakura.

"Hey. Let's get this who thing going."

"One moment, I'm pulling your record up." Sakura tapped on her data pad, then smiled. "There. Let's get a weight and height on you before I start asking if anything's changed for you since your last eval."

Sakura motioned toward an innocuous enough raised platform.

Volanz didn't want to be here, but he'd been told he didn't have an option. That whole omnicomm fiasco had been just plain embarrassing.

He slunk into the room and peered around awkwardly, waiting to be noticed. This whole "seeing a doctor" business was entirely outside Volanz's life experience.

Sakura stepped toward Volanz, offering him a reassuring smile. She'd talked to one of the crewmates who looked similar in some ways, a certain ashen skintone and dark colored hair, and those horns! But if this were the Grey God, he'd be mouthing off (for one) and had a kind of total makeover (for another).

"Thank you for coming. I'm Sakura, one of the medics doing evals today. Have you been seen yet?"

Rarity had been on the ship for a while now and being the fussy unicorn she was, she wanted to make sure everything about her was in order. She trotted over to the med bay and called out, "Hello? I'm here for the medical examination."

Faiza could totally use a unicorn!

Faiza looked up at the voice, then looked down. And paused. Because nobody had mentioned ponies. Still, it didn't take her long to shake herself out of that moment. "Ah. Good evening. I'm Dr. Faiza Hussain and I'd be glad to help you."

Ponies. They'd really never covered this in medical school.

Kyladriss had gotten to the point in her life where useless conflicts just took too much energy to maintain. Medical insisted they would come looking for her if she didn't show up to her evaluation, and Kyladriss did not like being followed. So she stalked into the Medbay, trying to rein in her foul temper and general opinion that this entire affair was a waste of her time.

Okay, medical exams weren't that big a deal. She'd rather a person than any sort of stupid autodoc experience, but that didn't mean she was completely at ease. Frankly, she was still nervous as hell.

Which was why she'd brought her holorifle with her. Surely. It was like a big, cuddly security blanket.
