Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Beastboy had heard Jake speak and glanced over assuming he meant him. With another dopey Gorilla grin he gave Jake a double thumbs up in an attempt to make him laugh. It looked like a poster someone would have hanging in their bedroom under a dark light.

Jake slowly returned the gesture.

Beastboy shifted back to his regular form laughing cheerfully, "That's the spirit dude! Sweet!"

Gotta love that shock value. Showing off his shape shifting always put him in a good mood.

Jake blinked and stared at Beastboy for a moment. That wasn't Andalite technology. He'd seen Andalite morphing far too often to mistake it for something else - no, Beastboy's was much cleaner, much neater and a lot less disgusting.

"...neat trick."

He was reserved, guarded. He didn't know any of these people yet.

"Thank you thank you!" He bowed and then stuck a hand out to shake Jake's "The names Beastboy, welcome to Stacy!"

"Jake," Jake replied and took the offered hand cautiously.

"Nice to meet you."

"You too dude!" He seemed nice enough, "So, welcome to saving the universe, it's not as big a deal as it sounds." this was kind of a joke. "Well it is, but you know...we've got spaceships so it could be worse."

"Oh, I know all about spaceships..." Jake mused quietly, "I think I'll be able to get used to it."

"Oh yeah? How far along is your world? I mean you look human and all but like what, 2000's? 3000's? Are you from Earth? I'm from Earth, Jump City California actually. Home of the Teen Titans if you've heard of us."

"...Jump City? Teen Titans?"

That sounded vaguely like something out of a comic book.

"Never heard of them. And my world's not that far along. We just... had to deal with some aliens."

Yeah, that was fun. Really. Great times were had by all.

"Aliens." Beastboy nodded sagely, "Love a good alien, hate a nasty one. You'll meet plenty more though. If you're lucky maybe we can track down Superman. He's like the nicest guy I've ever met from another planet." Beastboy scanned the crowd but no luck. "Or Starfire, she's a friend of mine from the Titans." He explained further.

"Wasn't that big deal. I just heard about it..." Jake shrugged and tried to deflect that line of conversation. He probably shouldn't be telling Beastboy anything about their world or his group.

"I'm just getting used to everything."

"Hey no worries it takes some time, which incidentally? A little wonky around here. There's not really like a set day or night thing and watches don't work. I've got one here but it hasn't run properly since I woke up." He dug out his T-communicator an flashed it to Jake.

"Well if you have any questions though I could do my best to answer them? If I don't know I'm sure someone around here knows. This ship is full of smart dudes."

"Who's in charge around here right now?"

That was important. He held up his omnicomm for a moment, toying with it.

"And what do we do now?"

"Oh well that's a question...let's see, we have the Council who deal with like...social rules and stuff you know? And they're elected positions. Then we've got that dude over there." He pointed at a man with dark hair, "That's Commander Petrelli, and then the big cheese is um...oh that guy over there! Captain Kennedy. I mean if you really wanna get technically Stacy runs the show around here but The Captain an the commander and the Council can convince Stacy to do things."

And then he grinned sheepishly.

"Well see that's the trick. When we're not on missions we can pretty much do whatever we like. Train for combat, build stuff in engineering, explore the ship which is kind of dangerous because apparently there are hidden weapons and monsters and such. First thing would probably be to see if you've got any friends on board. People from your world. And then after that we can find you a place to you know, settle in. A bedroom, quarters something. There's a whole city full of abandoned buildings to pick from, or if you don't mind Stacy watching over you there's the crew quarters."

"Thanks," Jake replied, mentally cataloging the information for later. He'd have to talk to them and see what they said about the ship and then check it against what Marco and Ax were telling him. It was a bit frightening how easily he was slipping back into that calculating, exploitative mindset. But part of him rejoiced. He didn't have to worry about feeling useless anymore. Adrift.

He shook his head slightly and then paid a bit more closer attention. "Sounds... uh... big."

"Yeah, the ship is huge, I think it's bigger then California even. But you get used to it. You'll be getting lost for a long while but once you get the hang of it...you still get lost."
