Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Hello, miss," he greeted her in turn. "This boy has answered many questions for me already, thank you." He nodded his head in Negi's direction.

"But I can't say any of them ease my mind very much."

"Well, is there any way I might do so?" Alastirra asked, tilting her head. "I am not sure what else I can tell you that he has not already, but if anything else has come to mind, I would be pleased to be of service."

He shook his head slowly, a little sadly, even. Nanaki was pretty discouraged from the news he had heard, even though that bad news had come with a possible good solution.

"Can you tell me a little more about this ... ship?"

[identity profile] alastirra.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"What would you like to know? Meals are provided for us, though the ones proffered by the ship are not the most tasty, for example. I believe there are some creatures in Hydroponics that may be able to be hunted." Alastirra tapped her fingers against her lips. What else might interest this feline?

"The City also has a river running through it and there are fish living within it."

The shaman figured he was welcome to ask anything she had not yet touched on. "If there is anything else I can answer, please ask."

"Food is provided? That's a relief." Though Nanaki was a good hunter, he had wondered idly how things ran like that on this ship. Still, if they were traveling, they probably had to be careful not to run out of food in between stops.

"There's a city?"

[identity profile] alastirra.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes. It is on the fourth level, and there are many places there. It is not largely explored, from what I understand. Also, as I said...the food offered by Stacy herself is...not gourmet by any means, but it will fill you." Alastirra still hadn't quite gotten used to slop, but...

"I believe there are actual prey animals in Hydroponics but you may have to ask Stacy herself which ones are fair game, so to speak."

[identity profile] sonofthewarrior.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"I understand," he replied with a nod of his head. "My name is Nanaki."

"I am Alastirra. It is a pleasure to meet you!" The Draenei beamed and gave a slight bow.

"I do not know if you like vegetables, but if you do, I have a garden in Hydroponics as well."

[identity profile] sonofthewarrior.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
"I like some," he said, happy there was at least a little leeway, food-wise.

He gazed up at Alastirra for a short few moments before speaking again. "Where are you from? I have never met any like you, before."

Being used to constant 'what are you?'s, Nanaki knew at least how to be polite when he met somebody from a different race.

[identity profile] alastirra.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
"My people are called the Draenei. I come from a world called Azeroth, though I was born on a world named Draenor. There are other people from Azeroth here as well, though they do not all look like I do. Some look more human." Well, the blood elves did, at least. Alastirra shrugged a little.

"I have seen creatures like you on Azeroth, but only their spirits could speak, so clearly, you are not from there. May I ask who your people are?"

She did try her very best to be diplomatic, after all!

[identity profile] sonofthewarrior.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Azeroth. I have never heard of it, before." Nanaki wondered briefly what it was like.

"My tribe are protectors of our home. Cosmo Canyon is known for its study of the planet's life, so it is important to understand and learn more about the place on which we dwell. But I am one of the last of my race."

[identity profile] alastirra.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Has your kind been hunted so?" Alastirra frowned. Truthfully, with what the Burning Legion did, she could sympathize all too easily.

"I have never heard of Cosmo Canyon either, so I suppose we are even. Still, if you ever cared to visit my garden in Hydroponics, you would be quite welcome!"

[identity profile] sonofthewarrior.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"My kind have only lived in the canyon that we protect, so there were never a large population of us to begin with. Still, we always co-existed with the humans who also live there. So we were not primarily hunted ... though there were always those who wished to treat us more like the monsters in the wild."

He did like gardens. On a ship that felt and smelled so strange ... the idea of a place with a more earthy, fresh scent was appealing. Nanaki nodded. "I will be sure to visit."

[identity profile] alastirra.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"My people had a division of beliefs...and those who turned to evil decided to pursue those of us who did not swear to the Burning Legion. So...I do understand your plight. I hope things got better for your people." Alastirra sighed. "Before this happened, at least."

She brightened a little at Nanaki's next words. "I would be honored to have you. Do not mind my companion who stays there. He is a rather large feline who watches my garden for me. At times he serves as a steed as well, but I assure you I could not force Snowspot to do anything I did not want him to!"
