CEEEEEELEBRATE GOOD TIMES~

Several buildings in the City had been completely destroyed during Aang's rampage, but a few had survived relatively unscathed. It had only taken Kang two days to repair the Drunken Dragon; he'd done so by himself, not even waiting for his leg to heal up a bit first.

Usually, he didn't bother lighting any candles or using the fireplace in the tavern unless it was a period when the artificial sun had set. He could see perfectly fine in the dim light. For the celebration, though, he'd thrown the windows open wide, scrounged up every candle he could find, and started up a fire, knowing that human vision wasn't as good as his own. The tables surrounding the stage had been cleaned, as well as the tankards, and the door was propped open. The bozak had even wrestled two of the 60-gallon barrels from the back room into a corner of the main room for easier access, one of cactus juice and one of ale. If more was needed, he was sure he could get someone to help bring out another.

Tess had commandeered the kitchen to make her food, bringing in her own equipment. Kang had been slightly afraid at first that she was going to burn the place down, but nothing had happened yet. She seemed to know what she was doing, even if she'd given him a few scares.

The sunlight glistened on the old sword blade teeth and dinnerplate eyes of the comical-looking wooden dragon grinning above the entrance. Come in, relax, have a drink and a bite to eat!

[OOC note: Both drinks are alcoholic, and the cactus juice has twice the kick of the ale. :D;]

Allen shrugs and drinks his own ale. What? He's not going to peer pressure his childhood role model. That would be a special kind of dick move. "I don't mean to sound laconic, but . . . mind alteration. It happens. What can you do?"

Om nom, ale.

"I'm glad you're back to yourself again."

Billy shakes his head. He's not participating in this. "Minimize risk-taking?"

Then, he looks at his partner curiously. "Thanks. Believe me, it was a relief to pull my fingers away from the trigger. I hope you didn't face anything that extreme."

"Nah. Just old situations that sucked being thrown in my face again."

There is nothing about his words or body language that indicates he wants to elaborate, and indeed, he doesn't.

"So as far as minimizing risk-taking, what are you thinking of?"

Billy nods, accepting that dismissal. That seemed to be the standard mode of operation for nightmares.

Thinking for a moment on all possible meanings of that phrase, he elaborates: "In the short term, I'm steering clear of alcoholic beverages and watching for signs of a bar fight in the making. Later, I plan to re-evaluate our lab's security patrol to be sure nothing is taken for nefarious purposes. Then there's training to consider---we don't want to be caught off guard with a situation we can't handle. It's impossible to prepare for everything, but it's certainly possible to prepare for several things."

Confusing? Possibly. But Billy's determined to be one busy bee.

"Why signs of a bar fight? Is somebody pissed at somebody? Should I duck in advance?"

"I'm not aware of any particular potential conflicts, but that's all the more reason to be vigilant," Billy sighs. "Have you seen what happened to your omnicom network? I'm surprised the Captain's issue with Roxie was the only incident involving Security. The Nightmare King's ground down our patience and tolerance."

"Have I ever. How many rebuttals does one post need, anyway?" He rolls his eyes. "Had to read it. Self-imposed 'had to,' but you know how it is." He shrugs, and finishes off his tankard. "Anyway, it doesn't have to be a bad thing. A little political upset could lead to the formation of a more stable, universally agreeable form of leadership, but no government is ever likely to be perfect."

Civics. Not as much his thing.
