CEEEEEELEBRATE GOOD TIMES~

Several buildings in the City had been completely destroyed during Aang's rampage, but a few had survived relatively unscathed. It had only taken Kang two days to repair the Drunken Dragon; he'd done so by himself, not even waiting for his leg to heal up a bit first.

Usually, he didn't bother lighting any candles or using the fireplace in the tavern unless it was a period when the artificial sun had set. He could see perfectly fine in the dim light. For the celebration, though, he'd thrown the windows open wide, scrounged up every candle he could find, and started up a fire, knowing that human vision wasn't as good as his own. The tables surrounding the stage had been cleaned, as well as the tankards, and the door was propped open. The bozak had even wrestled two of the 60-gallon barrels from the back room into a corner of the main room for easier access, one of cactus juice and one of ale. If more was needed, he was sure he could get someone to help bring out another.

Tess had commandeered the kitchen to make her food, bringing in her own equipment. Kang had been slightly afraid at first that she was going to burn the place down, but nothing had happened yet. She seemed to know what she was doing, even if she'd given him a few scares.

The sunlight glistened on the old sword blade teeth and dinnerplate eyes of the comical-looking wooden dragon grinning above the entrance. Come in, relax, have a drink and a bite to eat!

[OOC note: Both drinks are alcoholic, and the cactus juice has twice the kick of the ale. :D;]

"Must've been a good surprise, if Fonrar was in on it, too." Kaylee couldn't help but join along with Kang's laughter. He was finally loosening up a bit, which meant that the memories were at least good ones. How could you not laugh along, when someone was having such a time?

"A two-day hangover!? Ai ya, it must've been some party." Another drink, and Kaylee nodded up at the stage. "You won't be entertainin' us with some of your songs tonight, will ya?"

"We could always pump some more into ya," she half-smirked behind her mug. As for the children, they could always be sent off to bed, right? "Ah, so they're good tavern songs."

"Don't mean we can't try. Seems to be plenty in those barrels, after all..." The mechanic leaned forward. "Might ask you to share later, anyways."

"Maybe. We'll see what happens," Kang laughed, finishing off his drink. "Need a refill?"

He was a fast drinker, Kaylee had to give him that. She glanced down into her mug, shrugged, and downed the rest. "If you'd be so kind?"

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-17 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Kaylee pulled the mug closer with a grin. "Xie xie," she replied, before adding the obligatory, "Er, thanks," translation onto it.

"You're 'bout the only one. Everybody else gets all confused whenever I even swear in Chinese, and those ain't exactly things you always wanna be translatin'."

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-17 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Definitely handy to have the other language to swear in, ain't it?" She giggled. "Comes in handy when one won't say what you're really feelin'. 'Course, back home, everybody understands the Chinese and the English, so 'M still gettin' used to explainin' to people."

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-17 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Same here. Some things just can't be helped, not when you're so used to doin' things a certain way." She motioned around the room. "S'pose that's one good thing 'bout Stacy. We get to experience plenty of things we wouldn't have if she hadn't picked us all up."

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-17 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Better unwillin' than not here at all." So far as Kaylee was concerned, that was good enough. "'M sure there're plenty from your home waitin' down there. Just the matter of the right pods poppin'."

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"'M sure they are. Same as my crew." Kaylee gave the back of his forearm a quick pat. "Just might be a bit til we see 'em, but I don't think they'd want you worryin' so much when you could be productive 'n makin' the ship a better place for 'em, right?"

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
The hug surprised her some, but at least he seemed to be moving off of the moping track. "Can't always be helped, and it's good some, but dwellin' too much ain't healthy."

So he was getting drunk, which meant they were one step closer to the previously mentioned Tavern Songs. "So just enjoy yourself for a bit. We can worry when we're all hungover in the mornin'."
