Sooo...Meet-y

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their number. After the recent revelation, many of them were even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Brainiac 5 and Sensor were set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

Kyle was used to uniforms and the like, but whatever he was wearing now was a bit odd. He was just going to ignore it for now, if he really needed to change it he could. This ship had somehow managed to get a hold of his ring (really, shouldn’t that have gone directly to Mogo…) which he was thankful for. A lantern without his ring was like a sundae without the cheery or Elvis with broken hips, it just didn’t work.

After being ushered to get his belonging (which included his power battery…luckily, did anyone really want Parallax running around free?) Kyle stepped through the door. HE wasn’t sure what to expect, but he certainly wasn’t going to run through guns blazing…. That was Guy’s job anyway.

"Max? No idea who that is, sorry," replied Mal, looking vaguely confused, and surprised at having someone nearly run into him. But his confusion deepened when he heard Bart's rapidfire response. "The big what? And, uh.. Nice to meet you, Impulse. I'm Mal Reynolds. Captain Mal Reynolds."

He paused briefly, and then added, "Got any idea what we're doin' here? Besides fightin' some insects, anyway?"

[identity profile] am-alwaysfree.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Mal looked up, as someone else walked up and started talking to him. "Can't say I have, 'cause I really don't know what I'm lookin' for." This was followed by a brief awkward pause. "Am I supposed to be looking for somethin'?"

Baltar was rubbing a hand across his mouth, staring at the floor. The Captain had hit the nail on the head: it was just too much for any one man to deal with.

"Undone," Baltar repeated, his voice distant. But only temporarily, perhaps. Oh yes, what a wonderful idea that would be - restore the same frakked up universe I'd been loathing before I arrived here, he thought to himself, bitterly.

But did he hate it enough to wish it didn't exist whatsoever? When he, quite clearly, still did, perhaps for the purpose of saving everyone who hadn't made it?

That was a question that would take a bit more contemplation.

"In the meantime then," he asked, his voice sounding faint, even to him, "What are we... expected to do here?"

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps, if we are lucky, we may be of help," Arha said in a soft voice. "I would like to do such a thing."

[identity profile] speedforbrains.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. Um. Saving the universe, you know. The insect guys wiped it out, and we've gotta beat them so we can put it all back together." Bart shrugged. "Whereare you from? Are there superheroes there? You're a captain? I wonder what you're captain of!"

Dick wasn't guarded because he really didn't have to be. Jason was there and watching his back. The only people he might have trusted more, or at least as much, were Bruce and Tim.

Still, the shout caught him by surprise, making him drop the omnicomm to the nearest table to clear his hands and turned, dropping into a fighting stance.

And blinked when the only person he saw was Jason. "Wait, what?"

[identity profile] deputyjo.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well answers maybe? Maybe a drink or two?" Jo shrugged. "I know that's what I wanted when I came out of the goo pod." She grinned again and stuck her hand out to him. "I'm Jo Lupo by the way. I'm part of the Security team here on the ship."

"The previous crew that brought us aboard experimented with weapons and artifacts from many worlds. In the end, they found something they could not control and were destroyed in their hubris. We're their replacements, a new crew functioning to fill the shoes of a previous community trained and ready for this task.

"We are not so lucky. We have powers, heroes and legends from numerous universes, but much of the crew is fractured, unwilling to work in a military or militaristic community. I don't blame them. So we'll establish a civilian side to this crew, so that they can have balance. Then we train and prepare, and save ourselves and our homes."

It was to be a surprise then, when her eyes brushed across none other than Muad'dib's sister. This was a familiar face--iconic, still pod-confused--yes, this was Alia Atreides, St. Alia of the Knife, the sister of Paul Muad'dib, aunt to Ghanima, and Abomination. Arha let out a slight sigh and moved to her feet, gathering herself before moving across the space, her bright blue-within-blue eyes intent.

"You have my welcome, Alia Atreides," she murmured, flicking her eyes to meet the woman's. "I am Arha Masaari."

Let's say this is AFTER Jason runs the hell away from Damian the batbrat

[identity profile] reallyiscrazy.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Jason knew he shouldn't have come to this stupid thing. After the brat had come running at him, and having to deal with that headache it couldn't it worse. Of course as soon as he thought that he turned to see one of the mugs he had been hoping he'd never see. Unless he was being honest, then he was kind of relieved to see the Green Lantern.

He stormed over to the guy and crossed his arms over his chest, full out glaring. Even if he was secretly glad to see him, he couldn't let anyone know. That would defeat the purpose was being an asshole.

"Well well if it isn't my favorite little green lightning bug."

Alia caught the eyes that approached her, this strange young woman with sand hair. There was something so familiar about her features but she could not place them consciously, but deep inside her heart welled up with a strange longing for her brother.

Aunt?!

Alia looked the girl over with a harsh eye despite her shock.

"I have but one niece, and she is no more than an infant child." She paused, openly studying the girl with no effort to hide her intent.

[identity profile] toaster-lover.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"I see," he said, and he really did - there was a familiar aspect to this. "In my own... reality, as you call it, humanity's homeworlds were destroyed by an attacking force called Cylons. Military and civilians were forced into a similar situation: we were all running, or fighting, for our lives. Our first President was originally a school teacher." He smiled humorlessly. "And I was the last President - a scientist, and not a politician, I assure you." He nearly winced as the phrase 'last President' fell off his lips. It was suddenly much more literal than he had meant it to be.

If he had a pen, he might have a sign saying "Stargate Command Personnel Here". Or, maybe not. Probably not. He didn't, so there was no reason to contemplate the possibility overmuch.

So far, there hadn't been anyone arrived since him--and given that Ronon and Jackson were the only ones before him, there hadn't been very many before, either. He preferred the term 'arrived' over 'awakened'. There were no good connotations to the idea that his team might be sleeping somewhere miles into the pod caverns and never get around to being released.

He didn't like much of any of the connotations the ship's operations had, really. He preferred to think the whole place was a delusion he'd soon snap out of.

Even so. It would be nice to finally see a familiar face. Particularly a familiar face which actually recognized him in return. So, here he was, waiting on Obs Deck, studying new faces for a flicker of recognition.

Jason wanted to slam his head into something hard. Where the hell did the kid get a damn sword? Why the hell did Stacy let him have a damn sword? He shook his head and set his own fighting stance, wanting so badly to just reach for his gun, but instead he just held out his fists.

"You little snot! Damn Stacy couldn't even get this right. We need heroes, but pip squeak wannabes." And Jason knows that insulting the brat wasn't going to help matters, but oh well.

It was hard to miss the blue-in-blue eyes, they were rather distinctive - and Nanoha knew she'd seen them in passing in the crew before. Still, the young woman had the expression of someone who was a bit lost but who had the bearing to try to conceal it.

Nanoha smiled at her. "Hello," she said, tilting her head to the side. "Are you new here? I'm Nanoha."

[identity profile] indigoblueberry.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Indigo walked through everything passively. The cleaning. The 'clothing;'. The possessions. There was nothing for her, she found. None of the Outsiders were around, either, but she recognized several of the heroes that had been there.

She had recognized Nightwing, out of uniform, but in the mask. However, he was off to the side. Captain Picard was the one speaking. And, even for her, the concepts he was describing were unsettling. Their home universe, destroyed?

If she were human, she might have dropped to her knees at such a statement. But Indigo kept listening, considering the idea of restoration. It doesn't seem possible to destroy something that was wiped out, but... "If all we have to do is win this war, then we can start on it..." She doesn't realize she's speaking out loud.

Damian is unimpressed. Grayson's here, and even worse, Todd. Who Grayson apparently isn't worrying about. Fine. He can be foolishly trusting. Damian isn't letting his guard down.

He's got his mask can cape and belt, plus his sword. He's perfectly capable of defending himself and Grayson and whoever Todd decides to target. Even without killing.

He looks around, wondering if Mother's here, or anyone else he knows.

She couldn't tell, but Nanoha had a feeling that the blonde girl was a bit younger than her - and looked almost as anxious as she remembered feeling, if the way she held her blades was any indication.

She smiled in a way she hoped was comforting. "It's okay to be a bit confused. It happens to everyone, you know."

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Alia returned her greeting with out having even the foggiest idea who this fremen girl was. But most importantly, the girl knew who she was, and that little fact brought her great comfort. Maybe she wasn't as far from Arakkis as she had first thought.

"Subakh ul kuhar."

So this Alia was from when she was nothing more than an infant - not that she'd been like other infants...

"Yes, I am aware of you having but one niece and one nephew," Ghani's expression softened a little. "I am Ghanima," she told her simply, knowing that Alia would know she spoke no lies. "Though I am from what is your future."

Some people came to these events to see who was there. Others came to be seen.

Lex was the latter. The bald man in the $3200 coat moved through the crowd, looking over the new arrivals in a rather casual fashion.

"Whoa there, that's a lot of questions." Mal was smiling though, as he replied. "Sounds interestin' enough, I guess. I ain't from anywhere, really, though I live on a ship that I'm also the captain of." His smile grew a bit wider. "No, no superheroes, not that I know of anyway. "

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
What kind of greeting was that? Something about made her draw aback with obvious fury on her face.

"I am welcome where ever I go, child." Alia did not even bother to call her by her name. What an insolent child to address her so. "I do not need your blessing. This is my galaxy." And that she brushed passed the girl, and walked away, her head held high.

And deep inside a voice chuckled lovingly in her ear.
