Sooo...Meet-y

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their number. After the recent revelation, many of them were even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Brainiac 5 and Sensor were set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

"Oh. Um. Saving the universe, you know. The insect guys wiped it out, and we've gotta beat them so we can put it all back together." Bart shrugged. "Whereare you from? Are there superheroes there? You're a captain? I wonder what you're captain of!"

"Whoa there, that's a lot of questions." Mal was smiling though, as he replied. "Sounds interestin' enough, I guess. I ain't from anywhere, really, though I live on a ship that I'm also the captain of." His smile grew a bit wider. "No, no superheroes, not that I know of anyway. "

"That's too bad. I'm a superhero. Fastest kid alive. I wish I could captain a ship. That sounds mega fun! I've done it in video games but that's not really the same thing apparently." Bart bounced from foot to foot. "Can you teach me to fly a ship? That'd be so cool!"

Mal's smile turned to one of amusement. "A superhero, huh? And the fastest kid alive... Well, that's somethin' you don't hear every day." Then, with a shrug, he added, "You want to learn to fly a ship?" He paused for a few seconds, pretending to think.

"All right, I got a question for you. And it's a real important one at that... Do you think you could learn to love a ship?"

Bart nodded eagerly. "I so could! I have a spaceship you know. My friends and I saved this guy from an evil god and he promised anything we wanted and Superboy wanted one of the Harem girls but I wanted a SPACE SHIP! And we used it to go into space and play baseball for the fate of Earth!"

The best part is, he's not even kidding.

Mal couldn't help looking Bart over with a rather critical eye. "Little different than what I was talkin' about. You got to really love a ship before it'll fly right for you. Might be just a pile of machinery but they can sense that kind of thing."

"If you think you can do that, then I wouldn't mind takin' you up in a ship sometime."

[identity profile] speedforbrains.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Bart nodded again. "I can totally do that. I know people who are piles of machinery too. They're still cool. Even if they're kind of sarcastic."

"Alright, well, if I happen to come across a ship that ain't bein' used, we'll take a little trip. See what we can find." Mal grinned at Bart, all the while thinking that it wasn't likely he'd be finding a ship anywhere, since he already was on a ship. But that girl Nanoha he'd talked to mentioned something about a massive cargo hold, and the possibility of Serenity being there.

It was definitely something to check out later.

"Cool! You're the greatest! AndnowIgottago."

He vanished in the blink of an eye.

Bart does that sometimes.
