Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

One of the figures there to help answer questions was quite noticable in a crowd that was mostly human. Being seven feet tall, Kang (the dragonish guy with wings) could easily see over most people's heads, and if that wasn't enough, he had wings and slightly bronzy scales, and distinctly reptilian features. He had his nicer dark blue tunic and kilt on, sans armor, though he did carry his sword and dagger on his belt, just in case. Sometimes the people that woke up were a bit... hostile.

That's certainly a big...dragon-y-looking guy. He seemed like he knew what he was doing - and didn't have the crazy plantsuit thing. Simon adjusted his coat a bit, then stepped up.

"...uh. Hi."

Kang was very used to the staring, and the nervousness; he was well aware of how intimidating he looked to some of the other races. He simply held out his hand to shake and said, "I am Councilor Kang. Did you have any questions you needed answered?"

The hand was met with Simon's, and shook firmly. "Simon, leader of Team Dai-Gurren. And I guess the big question is where we go from here, really." He glanced around, then looked back at Kang. "I've been told why we're here, but this is obviously a peaceful event."

"We all know, from personal experience, how confusing it can all be. This is just for answering questions and for finding people from your world," Kang said. "You're lucky in that you're getting more information than some of us older crew members did when we first woke up. As for your question... more often than not, we're not in combat. It can happen at any time, though."

Was this... a dragon? A smallish dragon wearing clothes, perhaps? Clef hesitated a bit before approaching. There was no reason dragons couldn't wear clothes and be on space ships. Maybe she was a dragon from another planet - at least, Clef assumed this was a she-dragon, because she was wearing a skirt. Or this could be a he-dragon who just liked wearing skirts. Who even knew. Since Cephirian - Clef's native language - lacked gendered pronouns, anyway, it was largely a difference that would only matter to another dragon.

Clef stepped up to Kang, dwarfed even further by the lizard-like being's large size. It was difficult to believe, but he had no status here. A dragon in a skirt definitely ranked higher than he did right now, so he bowed.

"Excuse me, may I ask a question?"

Kang nodded, in greeting and in answer, smiling, "That is what I'm here for. I am Councilor Kang."

"Nice to meet you, sir. My name is Clef. I was wondering, is there a way to find out if there are more people from my world still in the pods?"

It seemed like an awkward question, but he had to know. If he couldn't go back there - if his world was gone, at least for now, then they just had to have grabbed more people than just himself and Fuu.

"You as well," Kang said. Then, his expression turned serious. "Unfortunately, no. Stacy was damaged by pirates, and doesn't have full access to the records of the people in the pods. She recently gained some access, but it took a good deal of energy for her to do so."

Okay, Aya was having a check of what she had and didn't have. Clothes (or what passed for it), check. Weapon, check. Took some searching but she got it in the end. It was her favourite handgun too. And because someone was being strangely kind, she found her NYPD dogtag and her wedding ring.

Now to find some information. She made a beeline for the most authoritative looking person in the room. He definitely looked like some sort officer.

A clearing of the throat, and Aya saluted.

"Um."

That didn't go to plan. Try again.

"Excuse me, sir."

Was this woman military? He hadn't been saluted to in years. He smiled, though, and nodded in greeting, "Did you have any questions, ma'am?"

Police and Para-military. Close enough. Aya lowered her arm and stood at ease when Kang smiled. She had read the survival guide on the way here but that hardly answered anything, it just filled her in on why she was there.

"Pardon my bluntness, but I still don't understand what the hell is going on."

"You don't need to stand at ease, ma'am," Kang said. He was liking this woman already; she cut right to it. "We're not even completely sure what's going on, but I can try to clarify for you."

Elisa knew a lot of people who tended to stand out in crowds of humans. Her best friends, her brother and that she gargoyle she loved were the sort of people who attracted a lot of attention, whether they wanted to attract it or not. She didn't hesitate before approaching Kang because she was afraid of him or unsure of how to approach him, but because asking if there were any other crew members with wings might have been a bit too blunt.

...Kang recognized her. That was the human woman Goliath had a thing for (though if asked, he'd claim not to), and the one he'd saved the life of before when the rage virus had been going around. "Elisa! You're back."

"Back?" she repeated, incredulous. When had she left? When had she been on the ship in order to leave? "I think I'd remember visiting a place like this."

She'd have remembered him, too. Winged beings weren't common enough in her world for her to forget the ones that she was lucky enough to meet.

"How do you know my name?"

Oh. It was one of those cases.

Snorting softly, Kang muttered something in Nerakese with Stacy's name in it before switching back to Common, "I apologize. It happens sometimes that a person is released, then sent back, and when released again, they have no memory of the first time. I met you briefly somewhere around four months ago, the best that I can tell. It's hard to keep track of time here."

In her quest for more information, Aeryn was on the lookout for anyone who didn't quite fit in. So she couldn't help but notice Kang. Not because of his height or his species-- there were all sorts here. But there were only so many who were armed, and clothed in something other than the standard white suits she and Crichton had been issued.

"Are you in charge here?" she asked abruptly.

"I am one of the Civilian Councilors, but if you're wanting to speak to the Captain, I can point you in the right direction," Kang said calmly.

"The Captain," Aeryn repeated, looking up into the creature's eyes without fear. "Is that the highest ranking officer on board?"

Kang frowned slightly, "No, but none of us trust the Daligig all that much, and they'll be leaving soon. They've been temporary guests." Hopefully, they'd leave soon. He'd been keeping an eye on the Daligig, and he wasn't liking them.

"You have a better chance of getting straight answers from Captain Kennedy."

It didn't take all too long to return from his brief trip to the city, returning with an even greater confidence in his stride as he wove his way back into the crowd, picking out his fellow Councilor with ease, making his way easily through the crowd toward him with Linsha not far behind.

"Quite the pod release it would seem, Kang, there's someone I'd like you to meet," He commented by way of greetings before gesturing to Linsha beside him, "Let me introduce you to the lady of Sanction, Linsha Majere, my wife, Linsha, this Kang, Governor of Teyr, one of my fellow councilors of the Civilian government aboard ship,"

Linsha looked at the tall draconian. He looked almost just like back in Sanction or in Teyr, during the negotiations her husband had initiated. But Crucible had warned her that Kang had been taken to the ship from the time long before that, and certainly he wouldn't know her. He had also warned her that the Kang of here didn't know about his double identity. As much as Linsha remembered, it had been difficult for Kang to accept the fact that the ruler of Sanction was indeed a dragon, and a bronze one thereto. So she would just play along.

"Lord Kang", she extended her hand in greeting. "I'm honored to meet you."

That name was familiar, and not just the Majere part. Kang shook Linsha's hand, mindful of his claws, and tilted his head to one side slightly, "Lord Bight has mentioned you before, Lady; it is an honor to meet you as well. Any relation to Caramon Majere?" He was completely at ease around Bight, and friendly.

Linsha observed Kang and noticed his friendliness to Bight. She wanted to shake her head, but caught herself. She was absolutely sure that once Kang would know the truth, and could just imagine his reaction. Kang was not the person to be deceived.

"Yes, I'm Caramon Majere's granddaughter, the daughter of Palin," she answered. "Unlike my father, though, I'm not a magician. I mostly take after my grandparents and hope to be useful here on the ship as a good swordmaster."
