Reflections of time amidst a flurry of arrows [Open]
Kate had done a patrol in the city earlier, and she debated on stopping by the Media library for something to watch. Something to distract her from the encounter with Ir.. no, *Nathanial*. Otherwise now mini-Kang in the making. All that work he did, everything to stop it, and asking for their help. Well, mainly Eli, Teddy, and Billy's help since Cassie and her came late into the game there. Still. They tried to help too. Until they found out what that help would mean.
She sighed, and her steps took her to the Sensoriums. But she wasn't going to use it for sentimental reasons. Oh no. Even if the surroundings resembled the training room of the Clubhouse, it was for function and practice. Not to get lost in nostalgia, there's a clear difference as she sighted her target and fired another arrow.
Wasn't there?

Which is quite a contrast to the sight in front of her. Rei watches in silent admiration as the other girl strikes the targets with a cool grace. Archery was like that---precise, rational, elegant. She waits for a break in the action to avoid startling Kate, and then announces her presence with a wave.
"Hey. Are you feeling up to two-player training today?"
no subject
"Sure step right up. Can get one here if you need something to train with. Unless you have your own?"
no subject
So. Target time. Rei turned to a target a safe distance away from where Kate had been shooting. "Would you rather talk a little between shots or stay quiet? Since I'm the one who interrupted you, I'll follow your lead. I don't mind either way."

Like a lot of modern teens of her generation, she multitasks.

"Patrol? You were a crimefighter?"

Kate observed her stance, how she pulled the bow.
"Watch your shoulder. You want your shot to be as straight as possible," she commented before pulling out another arrow, and nocking it on her own. She released it smoothly, and watched it hit nearly bullseye.
no subject
"From the name, I'd guess you were a group of vigilantes. Was it like that?"
no subject
"And exactly, don't let it drop too much," She instructed before firing three arrows at once. All of which landed near the bullseye.

She frowns a little at the mention of that word. Superhero.
"You too, huh? Being on a hero team was great. You form bonds. You're closer than family---the secrets, the risks will do that." Emotion sweeping up her concentration, the next arrow missed its mark spectacularly.

"Hey yourself," She studied him a moment. She was pretty positive he was with Professor Xavier's team.

"Another alternate world huh?"

"Hey! Kate! How're you doing?"
no subject
"Pretty good, Tony. How you been?" She replied, and went to fetch her arrows before walking toward him.
no subject
"Been doin' alright. Still getting used to all of this, still pondering... uh... the whole... mission thing and what it meant. Wonderin' if we're ever gonna get home. You know, the usual, 'Oh God, I've been abducted by aliens,' thing."
no subject
She nodded, "I know, it's been months, and we still don't know that much more about all of this. But we will get home. We *will*. We have to." A touch of fierceness in her set determined expression as she placed her arrows resolutely back in her quiver, and hoisted it up on her shoulder again.

He smiled, "Besides, we're heroes. And if comic books have taught me anything, it's that the good guys always win in the end."
He was joking, of course. In the real world, things often turned out horribly.

Kate thinking of Clint's words to Luke that she overheard once then added, "A good friend once said that the world needs us. And even if it's not like in the comic books, we're needed. You don't win, you keep going till you do. Or so somebody else can."

And his Garou side is showing through right there, for a moment. He sounds pretty damn ready to go down fighting.
