Reflections of time amidst a flurry of arrows [Open]

Kate had done a patrol in the city earlier, and she debated on stopping by the Media library for something to watch. Something to distract her from the encounter with Ir.. no, *Nathanial*. Otherwise now mini-Kang in the making. All that work he did, everything to stop it, and asking for their help. Well, mainly Eli, Teddy, and Billy's help since Cassie and her came late into the game there. Still. They tried to help too. Until they found out what that help would mean.

She sighed, and her steps took her to the Sensoriums. But she wasn't going to use it for sentimental reasons. Oh no. Even if the surroundings resembled the training room of the Clubhouse, it was for function and practice. Not to get lost in nostalgia, there's a clear difference as she sighted her target and fired another arrow.

Wasn't there?

He laughed and shook his head, probably spoiling all of her hard work, "Well, that's OK. It's usually pretty wild anyway. I 'preciate the effort."

He reached up, brushed a strand of hair out of her face, eyes examining her for a long moment, before he finally replies, "...it'll just feel right. I mean... I guess th' best way to describe it is like... when you shoot an arrow sometimes, you just know a shot is good, right? It's like that, sorta. It's weird, spiritual shit that has to do with how all Garou are built an' stuff."

Tony nodded, a grin starting to spread across his face.

"Yeah... exactly. Something like that. Except it's more like you're throwin' a switch somewhere inside of you."

He noticed the blush, didn't want to comment on it. He didn't want to embarrass her, so he just smiled. And maybe blushed a bit himself.

He rubbed the back of his head, still grinning. He shifted his weight to one hip, trying to think of something intelligent to say. And then her comment almost made him choke.

"Uh. Well, you know. Pretty easy," he replied, before fully considering the implications of that retort, "I mean... Uh. Well, you know, like it's just something you do. Most of th' time you don't even have to think about it."

"Well..." he shrugged again, grin a bit wider, a bit nervous, "...we're bestial kinda creatures. S'what we do. Run on instinct."

And right now his hear is beating far too fast for what should be a friendly conversation. And his 'instincts' are sending him conflicting messages, so that's right out.

He shrugged, "Well, we didn't fight anything. We did run away from a slime monster and then I saved a couple of people from drowny death. Not that I'm gonna brag or anythin'."

He rocked slightly, tilting his head and leaning forward slightly, "Sort of excitin', though. And hey, never know... maybe we'll end up working together on one of these missions someday."

Definitely too close. Doesn't mean he's going to step back, though.

Tony laughed, fingers scratching nervously through his hair again, "That sounds like fun. Mighta enjoyed that..."

Was it just him, or were they getting almost (un)comfortably close?

"It might be nice to see you in action, y'know? I mean..."

He trailed off slowly and for a moment, he just watched her, watched her face, examining her in detail. Then he leaned forward, closing the rest of the (small) distance between them. His foot shifted forward with him and he didn't have time to think it over (he'd figure out if it was a good or bad idea later). He gently pressed his lips against hers.

Of course, in the back of his head, part of him was mentally preparing to get slapped.

He'd be flattered to hear that opinion. However, at the moment he was far too busy appreciating how good of kisser Kate was. Funny how that worked.

His arms wrapped tentatively around her waist as he pressed into the kiss, not quite making it deeper or more passionate, simply increasing the pressure, the feel of it.

And just then, any and all thoughts of conversation fled from his head.

Ah, teenagers.

You know what? Thoughts are overrated. And honestly, he was too busy taking it all in. The feel of another warm body pressed up against his, the smell of her, the shock that seemed to run through his body. He shifted, lips parting slightly against her own.

The whole ship, this damn abduction? Not even a blip on his radar anymore. This was nice. He could get used to it.

For now, he'd just roll with the punches and let this go where ever it was going to go.

He was leaning into it, really starting to get into it (even though a voice at the back of his head was telling him it was sort of a bad idea). And then she pulled away and for a moment he just had a small smile on his face as he looked at her.

Wow.

Really, he hadn't done anything like that for... quite a bit. He laughed nervously, wondering if this was going to end horribly, if this was going to be shattered.

"Well... uh..." he struggled for the right words, "...I'm not really sure what to say t'that. I mean-"

Words, Tony.

"That was... Yeah. Yeah. I just- Well, you're a pretty good kisser, y'know that?"

OK, that was probably not the best thing to say, "...not that it's all about kissin' and you're still-"

That smile didn't quite fade, hovering at the edges of his mouth. He's on cloud 9 right now, despite the rather awkward silence he's trying to fill.

"I do? Well, thanks, I mean- Yeah, yeah that was good," he had no idea why he was babbling like this. Well, that wasn't true. He did. He was crushing on Kate pretty badly (which, really didn't bother him). She was cute, she could kick ass and take names, she was...

And that train of thought got derailed when she kissed him again. He returned it, letting out a long breath when she pulled away, a smile plastered over his features, "Oh, I don't mind. Don't gotta apologize or anythin'."

He tilted his head forward slightly, gently bumping his forehead against her own. He really couldn't ask the question that was racing through his head. It would probably end in tears. So, like any self-respecting teenage boy, he shoved it to the back of his mind and let it get buried for now.

"So..."

And now he had no topic of conversation, but that was OK with him.

[identity profile] playsin-traffic.livejournal.com 2009-07-20 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Tony really couldn't suppress the grin that spread across his face, the laugh that rolled out of him, "Sexy? Me? Really...? OK, OK... starting over."

He felt... incredibly happy. Energetic. He couldn't really restrain it (nor did he want to), so he just let that feeling of joy spread over him. He reached out a hand tentatively towards her, while he tried to find the right words, "Well... I like you. I mean- uh, well, you're sort of awesome with the whole arrows thing, not to mention... you're pretty cool. You know where I come from, with this whole... hero... saving the world, thing. You're... you look great, even with the weird living plantsuit. I mean, seriously."

Her hand felt warm, alive, in his own. And that's good enough for him. He's perfectly content to just hold onto that for now, giving it a squeeze.

"Well, you're more of a hero then I am, y'know? And, yeah it's interestin'. Useful skill like that, good to know."

He cocked his head in mock-examination, "...yep, yeah. I'd say so."
