Reflections of time amidst a flurry of arrows [Open]
Kate had done a patrol in the city earlier, and she debated on stopping by the Media library for something to watch. Something to distract her from the encounter with Ir.. no, *Nathanial*. Otherwise now mini-Kang in the making. All that work he did, everything to stop it, and asking for their help. Well, mainly Eli, Teddy, and Billy's help since Cassie and her came late into the game there. Still. They tried to help too. Until they found out what that help would mean.
She sighed, and her steps took her to the Sensoriums. But she wasn't going to use it for sentimental reasons. Oh no. Even if the surroundings resembled the training room of the Clubhouse, it was for function and practice. Not to get lost in nostalgia, there's a clear difference as she sighted her target and fired another arrow.
Wasn't there?

She nodded, "I know, it's been months, and we still don't know that much more about all of this. But we will get home. We *will*. We have to." A touch of fierceness in her set determined expression as she placed her arrows resolutely back in her quiver, and hoisted it up on her shoulder again.

He smiled, "Besides, we're heroes. And if comic books have taught me anything, it's that the good guys always win in the end."
He was joking, of course. In the real world, things often turned out horribly.

Kate thinking of Clint's words to Luke that she overheard once then added, "A good friend once said that the world needs us. And even if it's not like in the comic books, we're needed. You don't win, you keep going till you do. Or so somebody else can."

And his Garou side is showing through right there, for a moment. He sounds pretty damn ready to go down fighting.

He shrugs, rubbing the ground with one foot, "...when I'm at home, I got all this rage inside of me. This beast, this animal that just wants t'rip and tear an' kill. An' that's what Gaia gave us to work with."

That part she was more mixed on, mostly because she was used to having a strong no kill policy. The recent situation with the Yeerk kind of caused her to have some second thoughts on Avengers don't kill part. At least in some cases.
Kate then quietly asked, "What about here? You still have that rage? All the time?"
no subject
He shrugged his shoulders. It was what he did. It was celebrated at moots. He was congratulated for it.
"Sorta? I guess? I mean, it's not as strong, but it's there... somewhere."
no subject
Kate shrugged and wrapped her arms around herself, "But it's usually not a war with us. Why it felt so wrong when we did see people dying in one. Different worlds I guess."
She then slowly stepped closer, "So it's controlled, or easier to contain? Till you need it right?"
no subject
He trailed off, not quite sure how to finish that sentence. How to describe what Black Spirals did to people. Did to garou. Why you were better off dead then in the hands of the Wyrm. He shrugged again, "...yeah. Different worlds n' shit."
He looked up at her, running a hand through his own hair, "Yeah. Well, it's under control at home too, but it's a lot easier to just... lose it. Here, not so much. It's sorta muted. Like background music or somethin'."
no subject
She watched him, and was tempted to touch him or his hair but stopped herself.
"I wonder if Stacy's behind that? Probably for all of you. Do you like it? Losing it? Pretty freeing right? Or is this better?" Mostly asking out of curiosity.
no subject
"It's not really better, it's not really worse. Just sorta different," he replied, "I mean, at least I know I'm not gonna snap anytime soon. Other hand, I might need it and if I can't use it..."
no subject
"I mean, your hair.. Never mind."
She then sighed, "But you were able to use it on the mission, and I saw you Hulk out in the one meeting. Seemed like you can call on it."
no subject
He bit his lip for a moment and nodded, "...yeah. There's a bit of a difference. If I just wanna change, I just gotta concentrate on it. If I want to change real fast, go into killer mode like that," he snapped his fingers, "then I gotta use that rage. Tap into it."
no subject
"Have you tried in here? Like by yourself? Just for the practice?"
no subject
He got a bit more serious a moment later, "...haven't tried much. Don't want to exhaust myself."
no subject
Her hands returned to her sides again as she then asked, equally serious, "And then not have it there when you really need it, yeah. But how will you know if you do?"
no subject
He reached up, brushed a strand of hair out of her face, eyes examining her for a long moment, before he finally replies, "...it'll just feel right. I mean... I guess th' best way to describe it is like... when you shoot an arrow sometimes, you just know a shot is good, right? It's like that, sorta. It's weird, spiritual shit that has to do with how all Garou are built an' stuff."
no subject
"I.. uh..." Oh god, can't talk. Guys I like shouldn't make me so tongue tied. Have to focus.
She paused, and glanced to the side to collect herself before facing him again with a smile, "Exactly. I visualize where it's to go, and the bow's an extension of my arm. You just get into a zone."
no subject
"Yeah... exactly. Something like that. Except it's more like you're throwin' a switch somewhere inside of you."
He noticed the blush, didn't want to comment on it. He didn't want to embarrass her, so he just smiled. And maybe blushed a bit himself.
no subject
"A switch, and how easy is it to turn you on..." Great, Kate, open mouth, insert foot. Again. She just barely resisted the urge to facepalm. At least physically. Mentally was entirely different.
"I mean to turn it on." Damn.
no subject
"Uh. Well, you know. Pretty easy," he replied, before fully considering the implications of that retort, "I mean... Uh. Well, you know, like it's just something you do. Most of th' time you don't even have to think about it."
no subject
"Uh right. All instincts. I got it." And she should listen to the instinct to say a quick bye and flee out of there. Only that wasn't really her, and her body wasn't listening to the idea anyway.
no subject
And right now his hear is beating far too fast for what should be a friendly conversation. And his 'instincts' are sending him conflicting messages, so that's right out.
no subject
Maybe she was standing too close, too close for a friendly chat. That had to be it. Just needed to take a step back... or ten really.
Not moving yet.
"You're wild. It makes sense. It's good. Shame didn't see you in action during the mission."
