Lirath - Ship Survival

As the battle raged outside, those remaining aboard Stacy had their hands full preparing for the incoming flood of refugees.

Positioned near the Bleed-Gate orbiting Lirath, Stacy stood ready to receive the refugees. Ship after ship ascended as quickly as they could, some of them making a break for the Bleed-Gate itself while the smaller ships were forced to dock at Stacy, unloading their cargo of refugees before setting off again for the planet's surface again to take on more passengers.

Several small units of GIA soldiers were also sent up to help the Transmigration crew take in the massive amount of refugees, many of whom were tired, wounded, and scared. It wouldn't take long for the ship to begin filling with people.

With the battle raging outside, and the Ohm clambering outside, trying to get in, it would be a tall order to keep all of the refugees safe and calm, but the crew didn't have much choice.

She had done her best, fighting on the ground, but she knew full well that she would be needed elsewhere as well: there were refugees suffering and dying all over the place, and this time it wasn't the relatively minimal amount of blood loss from Zozek II: people were in pain all over the place.

And Kaya herself wasn't in tip top shape, not with all those narrow misses and cuts and scrapes she'd obtained, and her nerves were frayed. She was grateful that the others had been fighting and lent a hand, because right now she could at least take care of the people here. She barked out orders to the others at hand and did what she could, trying to move from one person to the other, using her chalice whenever necessary, although some did not take to her transforming into her white Pactio form as well as she hoped. For her, it was all the same: people dying, people injured, and her just hoping no Ohm had the chance of coming in and disrupting things.

Kaya started on him immediately. She closed her eyes, bringing her water out, and starting on some of the burns, remembering all too well the story of how Katara discovered she was a water healer.

"Sandy, some bandages, please!" She called out, then looked down at the soldier. "How did this happen?" She asked, trying to sound comforting.

Sandy was there in a blink with her last three rolls, "Geeze!" She gasped startled and unprofessional. She looked to Kaya expecting the older girl to know what to do.

Sure, things were busy with the battles raging outside, transporting refugees and tending to the wounded, but Nokosi had priorities. Priorities that were probably misplaced given the grand scope of things, but they made perfect sense to him. So before he headed out to assist the ground unit, he headed to the Medbay to see if he could find a certain somebody.

His eyes darted back and forth at the different people who were being wheeled into the Medbay for missing limbs, gaping holes and all manners of possibly fatal wounds. All of it was terribly familiar but didn't bother him much.

They really needed some Priests or Druids on hand in here.

It didn't take long for him to find who he was looking for--completely busy and making sure that things got done, just like he assumed. Not wanting to take her away from the harrowing work she was involved in, he scrounged for a roll of bandages and applied simple first aid until she had a moment free.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
Kaya, however, did indeed have her hands full. She knew she would when she made the decision to come back onto the ship. The stings from the last battle were still fresh in her head, and it took everything in her not to lose it and fall down crying. People were hurt all over, there was screaming and pain everywhere. It was the kind of thing you never wanted to be around even if you weren't a nurse.

But there was no time for that and she knew that. A real nurse kept her head, stayed in control and didn't crumble even when something like this stank of the worst things that happened during war. This was the more to come she had expected, and a nightmare she had to confront.

So when Nokosi arrived, still being considerate, her eyes locked into his, and she took the bandages quietly from him. Her eyes danced with many different emotions, but right now? Love was definitely there.

"Thank you," she said softly. "We need any hand we can get here."

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
A smile sprang to his lips--something that was severely lacking in the melancholy atmosphere that hung over the Medbay. It was just as well; the ravages of war tended to end up this way and judging by the number of injured, this was clearly going to be an uphill battle.

"Do not think anything of it, Kaya." He lay his hand against her forehead and smoothed her hair back from her face. "I was going to assist in the battle outside but I wanted to see you first. You seem to have seen battle already," the elf said, noting the scraps, scratches and bruises on the visible portions of her skin.

The orders given were followed to the best of her ability, but truthfully, she didn't have a clue what she was doing. All she knew was that the ship needed her right now, and what she lacked in her ability to fight she made up for in her ability to show concern and care for those that were injured. But with the numbers steadily rising and the amount of stress piling on the medical staff, Rapunzel began to wonder if holding back what she was really able to do such a wise decision.

"Where else do you need me?" She asked before stopping to peer at the cuts Kaya received herself. No, that wasn't good at all. She could fix this.

"Over there," Kaya gestured at the arrival of more injured people. She'd have to personally thank whoever had the good sense to make that gate that allowed them to pass from Lirath to the med bay: it was how SHE had been able to get there, after all, even if she had virtually no time to take care of the injuries she sustained from Assassins and that Devourer worm earlier. "I haven't gotten to monitor how bad they're hurt."

She was bandaging her current charge when she winced noticeably: she could see she was bleeding through her coverings and, though she was not accustomed to it, swore quietly. If she were only at full strength, she'd be using her artifact.

She was ready to head in the direction she pointed but was too distracted with Kaya's own injuries. Eyes darted between the other patients in the bay area and Kaya, debating mentally with herself with one would probably take more priority right now. She could nod and slip off to continue bandaging and aiding the injured here, or she could actually be of some real use by restoring people completely.

Biting down on her lips, Rapunzel turned slowly and placed a hand over the woman's wrist. "Let me help you..." She murmured softly, then lifted her eyes to Kaya. "You won't be able to help everyone at your best potential if you're injured yourself..."

Sandy looked startlingly out of place as she darted back and forth between the people rushing around being professional. Truth be told she didn't know the first thing about medicine.

But she was good at taking orders and so whenever someone demanded she fetch an item she was gone in a flash and back again.

At the moment she was carrying a stack of bandage wraps through the Med bay letting people pick off the top of her stack till her hands were free again.

Anwei had stationed herself by the Gateway out in the corridor, serving as first touchpoint for the wounded as they materialized. She grabbed stretchers, lent a shoulder to the walking wounded, corralled panicky people who tried to run away (they might end up in Science, or Special Weapons, or possibly worst of all the Hub if she wasn't careful) and gave a terse heads-up to the Medical team as to what sort of injuries to expect.

"Yes ma'am, you'll be able to get in contact with your family as soon as your arm is set...no, no, you have to stay with your friend...that's it, you can lie down right here." Then via her comm ring, More burn injuries coming in, and can someone grab the little girl who's hiding under the omnioxygenator there? "Sandy, when those run out there's more bandages in the – no, we moved those. In the blue cabinets marked F through H."

"Thanks!" Sandy yelped as she dashed past again and skidded to a stop to kneel and try to coax the little girl out from under the whateveritwas device. "It's gonna be OK." She promised and tried to smile reassuringly.

It was after the cultists had launched their attacks, spreading their chaos through the ship, when Dhianeila's projection appeared in the med bay. It flickered every now and then as she tried her hardest to focus, and though she wasn't there in the flesh, it was still easy enough to see how distressed she was. Tears ran down her face, and her voice was urgent, pleading.

"Please, send somebody to Hydroponics!"

[identity profile] flowerglow.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Rapunzel stared at the projection in awe, more amazed that it appeared at first before concerning herself with the message. It sounded urgent, upsetting, and that tugged her in ways she couldn't quite comprehend. The injured were starting to grow. Even with the orders given out, it was still a lot for the young dreamer to focus on. They needed the help, however. Maybe ...

"Where is the Hydroponics?" She asked, looking around at first towards some of the other crew members then back towards the projection itself. She had the ability to help these people, perhaps on of the best methods yet. Hiding that was no longer an option here, it would be selfish of her to do so. "I can help!"

[identity profile] dhianeila.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Past the space-walk in the living area," she answered quickly.

"But..." the way she said that implied that what awaited wasn't going to prosper from much help. Dhianeila simply didn't want them to stay there, bleeding in a strange place that they never got to know.

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey." Hit Girl had made her way to the med bay, and though her injuries had been less than spectacular, she wasn't down, not yet. She had overhead the two of them, and could tell by looking and Rapunzel that it would be a bad idea to let her go there in case there were some more psychos waiting to swoop down on them.

"I'll cover you, blondie," she said. "Its no place to relax, if there's still cultists around."

Battle was hell, but somehow the casualties remained even worse. Men could tell horror stories about war, but in the medical facility it was an entirely different battle. Martha had seen it enough, and as always in times of trouble was keeping a cool head throughout the situation, doing what needed to be done and realizing what couldn't.

Currently she ran with full bags of IV fluids, rushing to replace them with the ones being sucked dry by the patients. Head filled with lists of what needed to be done when, afterward she would analyze what had happened.

[identity profile] 8wings.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Doctor!" Anwei shouted to be heard over the moans and cries of the patients. She was carrying a full twenty-five-liter container of water in each hand, keeping them close to her sides so as not to hit anyone. "Sterile water, where do you want it?"

[identity profile] atruedoctor.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Uh, God, I don't ..."

Many of the surfaces were already filled with necessary tools and items, not to mention patients. It wouldn't do for it to be too far away either, not in this mess. And she wasn't expecting anyone to defer to her, even with small tasks like this.

"Give them here, we can place them next to this table here and hope people watch where they're going."

Kang treatment

[personal profile] curiousredsoul 2011-08-22 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
Not far from the Medbay, the primary end of Celena's Gateway system sprang to life, a portal once more forming between the spinning crystals, coalescing to form a stable gateway between the ship and surface of Lirath. More specifically the primary MASH tent. Within but a moment after it's forming, Celena herself stepped through the threshold, moving quickly as the unconscious and rather large form of the draconian many knew so well floated through after her, wrapped in a number of heating pads to aid with his condition. With but a wave of a hand she closed the portal after her, putting it to standby for her return.

Not hesitating for a moment she proceeded rapidly toward the medbay as she had a few times before with various patients who were either too injured for treatment at the MASH or whose injuries needed the equipment of the Medbay itself. Approaching the nearest available medical assistant she motioned to Kang's floating form, "I need your assistance, Kang is suffering from hypothermia, he must be warmed if he is to survive, and warmed slowly. I must return to the surface shortly,"

Re: Kang treatment

[identity profile] 8wings.livejournal.com 2011-08-23 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Anwei turned quickly, putting down the tray of gauze pads where someone would find it. "Stacy, some help here? Hold him up." She watched as the heavy ropy tentacles descended from the ceiling, wrapping around Kang's form. Once she was certain that he was supported head to tail-tip, and that all of the heating pads were still pressed tight to his skin, she turned to Celena.

"We received Doctor Henderson's message, and his instructions. Thank you for bringing him here." Thank you seemed in adequate for springing from the battlefield to bring a comrade to safety, but it was all she could think of to say.

She looked back at the torpid Councilor, and remembered people complaining of how their horns directed cold directly to their skulls and made them ache. Carefully, she laid her hand on Kang's head, near the base of one horn. His body was so cold that moisture was condensing on him out of Stacy's air, making him look like he was sweating. He was still unconscious, and she had no idea if he could feel the warmth of her hand on him. She held her hand there anyway.

Once Kang's weight was fully under the support of Stacy's tentacles she dropped the telekinetic force she had sustained to hold him up. Watching Anwei as she checked over him.

"You are welcome, it is the least I could do," She replied easily and with a hint of weariness in her tone, she had been moving nonstop since the fighting had started, whether to rescue others around or to protect those she cared about.

"I shall leave him in your care, I must return to the field," With that she gave a dip of her head and a small smile as she turned and hurried back off to the gateway to return to the surface.
