Rogue Squadron Meet 'n' Greet, Mark 2 [ Closed to Rogue Squadron]
Wedge had set up the headquarters for yet another meet and greet operation. The headquarters, of course, was simply an abandoned building with appropriate facilities he had commandeered in the city. A low building of bright red brick, it had at some point been an office complex. Now it was the headquarters of the best fighter squadron anywhere (or so the reputation went). A crude sign and been painted over the front of the building reading 'Rogue Squadron Headquarters,' replacing the precious owners which had advertised for insurance of some type. The front offices had been set up for use by Wedge and his small staff (now including Tycho, Ben and Nura) to run the squadron. Another side room had been set up as a 'pilot lounge,' though at the moment it only had some spare office furniture. Couches and other things were hard to come by on Stacy. Finally, the largest room had been converted into a briefing room of sorts, with a projector and several rows of seating, as well as tables that could be stowed or set up as needed.
At the moment there were simply chairs scattered around the edge of the room. Wedge waited, occasionally checking his chronometer. Hopefully everyone would arrive and mingle, and then he could get down to the business of letting them know exactly what they were in for.
[[OOC: Feel free to tag each other, please!

Re: ARRIVALS / MINGLING
-- oh, come on, it's humans who have been flying around in a meatship fighting interdimensional aliens out to destroy life as we know it. They've definitely seen weirder. This wasn't home. No reason to assume he'd be judged the same way, right?
And as he stepped inside, it occurred to him that the very makeshift vibes of the place reminded him more of a Red Alert safehouse than anything in Hunter HQ. "Just like home! Well, almost."

As always she peered around to find Wedge and when she did, there was a bright flash of a smile. Arha was always approachable and made herself so for those who were new.

She walked in, remembering the briefing missions of times past when they'd do them in whatever building they had managed to conquer during the war, or a simple tent. This was much different. As crude as this office was, the sheer scale of the operation made her completely excited. She couldn't wait to start and walked in, fully confident of her abilities and skills how she was going to fit her hair in a helmet was another story.
"Hey! Love what you've done with the place." She had no idea what the place looked before. Didn't really matter.

[This the place?] 8 spoke up from his case in Lowe's hands.
"I think so. Lot of pilots here. Hope I'm not the only one signing up to maintain everything!" Lowe replied.

She grinned when she noted Wedge, who looked just like he had in the movies, and waved. "General Antilles, right?" she asked before offering her hand. "Dr. Angie Spica. We spoke on the comms?"

Dean had hurried along the hallways, but now he just sauntered calmly and went to find a seat.
Dammit, his brother made it here first. Son of a bitch. Eh, at least he knows how to make an entrance better.
"Well now the party can start," he smugly commented.

BUSINESS / BRIEFING
WELCOME TO ROGUE SQUADRON
"First of all, let me say thank you to all you, new volunteers and old hands alike, for agreeing to join our unit. All of you bring a set of unique skills and experiences to the squadron, and I wouldn't have it any other way. As I told you all before, we are a military unit with a long history that goes back to the beginning of the Galactic Civil War, the main conflict that was taking place in my galaxy at the time of this squadron's formation."
"We were formed originally as Red Squadron and flew in operations against the Galactic Empire, the most famous we undertook with that designation was the attack on the first Death Star. In that action, we lost all but two of the pilots in our unit. Myself and Luke Skywalker." Wedge nodded at Luke.
"Afterwards, we reformed as Rogue Flight, using the name we still use today. We continued in operations against the forces of the Empire, including the covering action against Imperial walkers and star destroyers as the main Alliance forces evacuated the ice planet of Hoth. We participated in battles at Dubrillion, Kothlis, and Fondor. We were engaged heavily in the attack on the Empire's second Death Star as well. After the success at Endor and the death of the Emperor we were involved in a few other missions before being temporarily disbanded."
"We were reformed a year and a half later with new pilots. We fought in the Battle of Borleias and were key in taking Coruscant, the galactic capital. We fought in the campaign against Warlord Zsinj and against Grand Admiral Thrawn, the reborn Emperor and the Invids. We are--or were, still involved in the fight against the Galactic Empire. More details are available in the media library."
"This unit has a long history and an even longer roll of honor. Many young men and women, some of them my friends and all of them exceptional pilots, have died in combat while fighting for this squadron. They died to protect their wingmates; they died to protect the innocent people who cannot fight for themselves. I want each and every one of you to remember that we fly out into the cold vacuum not for ourselves but so that others may live in peace and without the interference of evil men in their lives. Being a member of this squadron is a responsibility to something bigger than yourselves or even your wingmates, who rely on you to watch their backs in a fight." Wedge's voice had grown even more deadly serious than it had been at the beginning of the speech by this point.
"Remember this. I expect each and every one of you to conduct yourselves in a manner that reflects well on this squadron and that will not disgrace the uniform you wear or the many people who have fallen in defense of what it represents: freedom, justice and the death of tyranny. Whether you are flying into combat, picking up EVA pilots, repairing fighters or managing our resources you play an important role in keeping this squadron running and in the fight against the Ohm and whoever else wishes innocent people harm." Wedge clasped his hands behind his back, looking silently at the assembled for a moment.
"Welcome to Rogue Squadron. Any questions before I move to other things?"

AFTER CLASS--I MEAN THE BRIEFING
"Asuka, you were out of line. Colonel Celchu and I would be happy to answer those sorts of questions in private. Undermining our authority in front of the rest of the squadron, however, is always inappropriate. You volunteered for this squadron. You knew--or should have known--that doing so entailed placing yourself under our command. If you don't want to work with us, you're free to leave. But you won't fly with us, you won't train with us, and you definitely will not fight with us. Because with your attitude, you are a danger to yourself and the rest of our pilots. And I take that very seriously, because as Colonel Celchu said, we are now responsible for your lives."
"I would prefer that you not leave, however, because I think that you have the ability to be a great pilot, and in fact may already be one. I would hate to see your talent go to waste because you can't resist running your mouth. In the future, think about what you're going to say before you say it. Understood?" He stood, silent, waiting for Asuka to answer.
