Rogue Squadron Meet 'n' Greet, Mark 2 [ Closed to Rogue Squadron]

Wedge had set up the headquarters for yet another meet and greet operation. The headquarters, of course, was simply an abandoned building with appropriate facilities he had commandeered in the city. A low building of bright red brick, it had at some point been an office complex. Now it was the headquarters of the best fighter squadron anywhere (or so the reputation went). A crude sign and been painted over the front of the building reading 'Rogue Squadron Headquarters,' replacing the precious owners which had advertised for insurance of some type. The front offices had been set up for use by Wedge and his small staff (now including Tycho, Ben and Nura) to run the squadron. Another side room had been set up as a 'pilot lounge,' though at the moment it only had some spare office furniture. Couches and other things were hard to come by on Stacy. Finally, the largest room had been converted into a briefing room of sorts, with a projector and several rows of seating, as well as tables that could be stowed or set up as needed.

At the moment there were simply chairs scattered around the edge of the room. Wedge waited, occasionally checking his chronometer. Hopefully everyone would arrive and mingle, and then he could get down to the business of letting them know exactly what they were in for.

[[OOC: Feel free to tag each other, please!

The briefing has started!]]

He nodded.

"In addition, since we're going to have a multitude of pilots in our ranks, I wouldn't mind answering any questions or demonstrating anything about our own units if anybody has them. Especially if they'd like to familiarize themselves with the mobile suits and what they're capable of before we begin training."

Trudy had through no design of her own found herself sitting in the middle of the kids, so to speak, and she'd steadily been hiding bigger and bigger grins at the one who kept getting himself into trouble. Tuning out Tycho's speech was easy, she'd heard the same from others.

No basic, she thought. That's the problem, you toss these kids into a cockpit with no chain-of-command training behind them and they'll be little shits.

But when they started talking about the mobile suits, she leaned over Jule. "I'll take you up on that, if you don't mind," she said, not pitching her voice to carry to Tycho. This was just talking among ranks, not anything the officers were concerned with. Being stripped of rank had galled, at first, but Trudy knew she didn't know enough about X-Wings and their capabilities to command them. It was almost a good feeling, to be back among the guys again.

Yzak wouldn't admit to it, but he felt similar to the way she did. Even Shinn, to an extent. But when it came to the serious business, he knew better now, that talking back and arguing, rather than coming to a compromise at the very least, was the least-intelligent thing to do. And if they were all fighting together, as a commander or fellow pilot, Yzak wanted everybody to be as educated as he himself wanted to be about the variety of machines they'd be fighting with.

"Not at all," he replied, slightly turning his head to her. "Once we're finished with this meeting, feel free to ask me anything at any time. What sort of unit are you familiarized with piloting?"

"Atmosphere-rated chopper," she said. "Dual rotary lifts, minimum payload. Mostly a troop transport, but I could carry two door gunners and I've flown combat before."

She knew that she was vastly underexperienced compared to other pilots who had flown vacuum craft before, but the X-wing was a sweet little piece of machinery and she was falling just as much in love with it as she was her Samson.

"The idea of this is probably something else for you then, huh?"

"We had hydraulic walkers fitted for combat, but they weren't space-worthy and I didn't like 'em much," Trudy said. "I've seen your machines in the hanger a couple times when I've gone in to try and fix the hunk of melted circuits my chopper is right now - they look like sweet bits of engineering."
