'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"I take it thine home is a rough terrain?" Pirogoeth asked. "We have nothing like this in mine own world, but the idea...it is quite the good one." She liked ideas like this. It was why she preferred to be a scholar. Work on solutions for problems of the people instead of things like war.

"Think a giant hole drilled into the ground with rickety platforms and you come close. Living there's a fun challenge when you're completely fit, never mind a handicap." He managed not to pour too much sarcasm into the word 'fun.'

"...sounds like dwarves who like to make it hard to enter their domain," Pirogoeth commented. "I take it thee is quite able to not be horribly scarred or disfigured then."

That one takes him a second. "Yeah, I can take care of myself. And then some."

"Good," Pirogoeth said and there was just a hint of a smile there. "It's better to have those who are confident, despite challenges," she said and looked around. "Being here often brings a great deal of them."

The Guv patted the chain wrapped around his torso and grinned. "I'm real good with challenges."

A chain? "Not often I get to see one wield a chain as a weapon," she said. It'd be another interesting thing to see.

"Mine name is Pirogoeth of Kuith."

"Lots of chain where I come from. Gives me some of the distance I lost without wasting shivs." Not that he didn't use guns. He did, and had some with him, but they were secreted away. He wouldn't be projecting their presence to anyone.

"Pirogoeth. Fancy name. I'm the Guv of Crematoria."

"Good point. I suppose I am just used to crossbows or magic for distance fighting," Pirogoeth said. Too bad she had lost hers hours before arriving on Stacy.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Guv," Pirogoeth said and smirked briefly. "First one to say mine name is anything besides 'long.'"

"I just don't got the arm reach I used to," he explained, shrugging.

The Guv grinned back at her. "I've heard longer. You're the first to say Guv right, too."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2010-04-03 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Understandable," Pirogoeth said.

"How do they say it wrong?" It seemed like a pretty simple name.

[identity profile] ellenwashername.livejournal.com 2010-04-06 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think one of 'em actually tried to call me Mr. the Guv."

Yeah, that one was going to take him a while.

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2010-04-07 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
"I suppose they are not used to the greeting with the name of the place. Though it seems a great many here have 'last names.'" A concept she wasn't used to. People had titles and origins, but not last names.

[identity profile] ellenwashername.livejournal.com 2010-04-08 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's weird," was the Guv's very original judgment. "But I guess we can't all have the same sort of smarts."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
"No, I suppose not. That has become obvious. The fact some people come from worlds so beyond others can be quite...startling," Pirogoeth said. She'd have been quite intelligent for her world. Here, she felt almost lost with how advanced technology was.
