'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Zhiai'kahn had indeed noticed the complexity of the creature's body language. Had she been born a few generations earlier, she may have been able to make sense of it, but the Sansani race had abandoned its old, more complex, more movement-driven language in an attempt to be taken more seriously by the more advanced races of their planet. It was a great cultural loss, but she had heard some talk recently of teaching it to youngsters now that the Sansani controlled the planet.

"It is strange, yes," she said, "it has the feeling of a jungle, but without the trees." The heat and humidity didn't bother her in the slightest, as her species' natural habitat was the jungle. Though, the lack of trees was a bit disheartening, as her people were arboreal. "And I heard this was some kind of starship. I admit, I had never expect to be in such a ship in my life. But, as you said, introductions. I am called Zhiai'kahn Ahl."

Aeneas gave a small nod, though he was somewhat confused. ‘Jungle’…Was that like a forest? A really hot, humid, uncomfortably compact forest? Sounded unpleasant.

“I do not think any of us expected to be,” the alien purred with a twitch of his feathers, “At least that much gives us something to have in common…” he trailed off, somewhat bashful, “…Yes. It is nice to meet you, Zhiai'kahn Ahl. If you…have any questions, I…”

This felt odd; it was rare for Aeneas to be on this side of things, giving the answers instead of posing the questions. He wasn’t sure if he liked it yet or not.

"Yes, I do have a question," she said, taking the invitation, though wary. She'd lived much of her life in a time of tension between races. She was not used to trusting those that were not her of her own species. "Who is in charge of this starship? I would like to speak with them, if possible."

…Unlike Aeneas, who had only known other races and had bad memories of his own. Well, what few memories he’d retrieved. Having those be overseen by an evil dream-state demigod did not help.

“Eh…a certain ‘Captain Kirk’ fellow,” the alien answered with an uncertain glance at the ceiling, “I have never talked to him myself—there are several departments that also oversee different ship groups and functions, in case you wanted to be specific, but I cannot name them from memory.”
