'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Celes raised an eyebrow at him, and tilted her head to the side as if to ask which of the Triad had sent her someone who looked like they'd just crawled out of the Veldt. "As comfortable as one would expect to be, I'd imagine, in clothing that seems to pulse on its own."

She extended her hand to him for a proper shake, "General Celes Chere, and you are?"

Ever gallant, Geoffrey took the proffered hand and bowed over it. Ever slightly inappropriate, he maintained contact and barely hid his smirk while he did so. "Geoffrey Chaucer, m'lady, writer and previously herald to Sir William Thatcher of London."

Straightening, he relinquished her hand before continuing. "I confess, the recommended clothing was far too... foreign for my tastes. And thus," he gestured to his own rather skimpy mode of dress to finish his explanation.

Mentally, Celes took a deep, deep breath and counted to ten before she crossed her arms under her breath. She could handle this, just the same way she could handle Edgar's teasing little flirtations on the way to Zozo. It was just a matter of not reaching out the throttle the knave she'd known for a handful of minutes.

London she'd never heard of, so Celes was understandably a bit dubious about his name. "So I see. How was it you managed to... dress yourself? Certainly there are people here in items not," she picked at the chest of her plantsuit, where Ramuh winked in the light, "so unnatural as this." And where could she find them?

"It was a matter of finding a blanket large enough to suit my needs only, m'lady General. I could help you find some if you wished. The city and the lockers have both proven fruitful sources." Chaucer's flirtation wasn't constant, at least. He had no real interest in the woman, after all, and mostly did it out of habit.

Thank the Triad for that. "That will probably not be necessary at the moment, though I thank you for your thoughtfulness," Celes nodded at him. It was impractical to use as sword (as she was so fond of the practice) and wear a floofy ballgown, never mind some hastily wrapped blankets.

The layers tended to get in the way, after all.

"As I am rather out of sorts at the moment," Celes said politely, but no less formally. "Would you care to tell me just what all this madness is about?"

"They," he made a gesture to indicate some of the older members of the crew, "are greeting you," Geoff gestured to her and some other newbies, "to introduce the rules and regulations of our fine establishment, answer any questions, and generally size everyone up. Always interesting, if only for the people-watching."

"How often does this happen?" Celes asked. It would be good if she made her way to one of those introductory people, she wagered. And though Chaucer seemed to have little qualms with them, Celes couldn't help but the hesitation. She supposed it was just foolish, green soldier nerves, at the heart. Stepping into the unknown was irritating.

"Regular intervals? Time's a little odd to track here." Geoff scratched his head. "And everyone seems to measure it differently anyway."
