'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

He doesn't know why he's here.

No, no, that's a lie. He knows exactly why he's here.

As Roy shifts through the mass of new people, sidestepping happy reunions and first meetings, ears filled with chatter, his eyes are darting to and fro in a frenetic manner. His hair looks to not have been combed for a week, and shadows hang below his eyes with all the weight of his days in Ishval. Still, he is wearing his greatcoat, and his back is straighter than the average war-ravaged person... as if the gloves aren't enough to label him top brass.

He pauses in his steps, eyes narrowing at an oddly familiar prosthesis in the crowd. The Flame Alchemist watches, rapt, as the dark-haired woman tears the plantsuit from her arm, revealing what can only be called automail.

Several seconds of quick movement find him latching onto the woman's shoulder, eyes wider than they ought to be.

"Are you from Amestris?" A pause, and he inhales sharply, dropping his hand from her shoulder, schooling his expression into blankness in an attempt to control his rising hysteria. This ship is driving him mad. "I'm sorry. Your arm is automail, isn't it?"

Had Ran Fan not been quicker in noticing who it was that had grabbed her shoulder, Roy miiight have been on the receiving end of the hidden blade in her arm. Thankfully, that wasn't the case.

His was a face that she had only seen a few times, during which she had been delirious in the pain of losing her arm... but she still remembered him. She did not expect him to remember her, of course, which was why it didn't seem strange for him to ask if she was from Amestris.

"Ah, no..." She said, and she bowed a little. "I am from Xing. I am one of Prince Ling's bodyguards."

From the momentary tension in the girl's posture, Roy can tell that escaping sans wound from that specific greeting is rather a miracle. A twitch at the corner of his eye betrays the wince he had covered up.

He has to bite back a smile and a sigh of relief at the word "Xing." It's been so long to him, so long without word of countries and conflict that the mere sound of a distant nation loosens a bit of the tension between his eyebrows. His hands slip into the pockets of his greatcoat.

"Prince Ling, Prince Ling... fifteenth... seventh in line for the crown? I know I've heard the name before." He pauses, ponders for a moment, and raises a hand in what could almost be an 'aha!' gesture. "Twelfth! Twelfth prince? And you're a bodyguard. I suppose I should have guessed something as much. With automail like that, you're either in service to the military, or in service to the crown."

"Colonel Roy Mustang," he says after a pause, inclining his head slightly.

It didn't really show, but Ran Fan was incredibly relieved as well. It seemed her assumption was right, and some of the others were here!

"Have you... seen him anywhere in this strange place, Colonel Mustang?" Ran Fan asked. Even with her relief, there was just a hint of worry in her voice, though she tried to hide it.
