'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

His brow crinkled with concern. "Dad, how long have you been here?"

"Several months." Luke glanced at Steve for confirmation on this--time seemed to run differently here, with no chronos or even marked day and night cycles to mark its passage, and he couldn't be sure. "Long enough."

"But we were just on the Shadow."

"What?" Luke's brow creased. "Before I awoke here, I'd just finished getting the Moffs back in line, Daala was making her speech accepting the position of Chief of State..."

He trailed off as realization dawned on him. It was a strange position to be in--thus far he'd apparently been 'ahead' of everyone else, at least as far as history went. But the way Ben was talking, perhaps he was from Luke's future.

"Yeah, he may be kind of old but he's not lying. It's been a few months," Steve confirmed, feeling the need to stand up for Luke. and slightly grateful that the subject had not stayed on his need to be taken under wings.

"That kind of stupid time stuff happens a lot around here. My friend Claire is from seven whole years after me, even though it seemed like yesterday before I woke up here."

"A few months after the Battle of Shedu Maad?" He felt like someone had flipped the gravity off or vaped the floor out from under him. It was one thing to meet young versions of his dad's friends, and even Jaina, but to have his father out of time eroded some of the confidence he'd built up after leaving the pod room. "That was two years ago!"

"Two years?" Luke exclaimed, astonished. If it hadn't been happening here all along, he almost wouldn't have been able to believe it. Sure, Ben looked a little older, a little more filled-out than he had when Luke saw him last, but there was no way he could be sixteen when it seemed just yesterday--

But then again, Luke thought with a hint of amusement, Ben would always be that tiny baby that he had held in his arms, the one that he and Mara had sworn to protect. Ah, the unintended effects of parenthood.

Still... things already felt more awkward.

"Dad, we can't stay here. I know things were quiet just after -- after Caedus, but we've got a mission to finish."

Luke's brow furrowed in thought, confusion. "A mission? What mission?"

He should have thought that through before he'd said it. He paused, then said: "How much have you told Jaina?"
