'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Captain Kirk is currently in command of the ship. There's also Master Chief, a fellow named Elfangor, Red Snout, and a few others. I might be able to answer any questions you have, though," Kang crossed his arms over his chest. "It's a lot to take in."

Captain Kirk. Master Chief. Elfangor and Red Snout. Right. Simon tried to commit these names to memory under a tumult of other thoughts and concerns.

A lot to take in was an understatment. "No...thank you, I...appreciate it."

Simon paused and furrowed his brow, obviously find it difficult to take in as well. "What exactly did Stacy mean by 'chosen'?"

"If Stacy and the Daligig are to believed, and I haven't seen any reason we shouldn't yet, an alien race called the Ohm have destroyed our worlds. We were rescued, and we've been tasked with stopping them from destroying any more worlds," Kang growled. "She's tried to rescue those that are close to us as well, but... there's no telling who, or when they'll wake up from the pods."

If Stacy is to be believed.

For Simon, that was a pretty big if, especially because he had no idea who was trustworthy and who was not. Kang was slowly leaning on the "possibly trustworthy" side, mostly because he seemed more than willing to answer burning questions and he knew that Kaylee was here.

Still, the doctor was reluctant to accept any information if it wasn't coming from someone he knew. Nothing personal against Kang, of course.

He couldn't help but latch on to that small glimmer of hope. "So River...my sister might be here."

Kang understood the wariness, and he wasn't offended at all. He'd been wary at first himself, but after hearing it from so many sources and seeing what he'd seen, he'd accepted it as a very real possibility.

"She might. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any records anywhere of who's in the pods," his wings rustled. "I wish there were, and I'm sure I'm not the only one."

A part of Simon already knew it was all true. There seemed to be no reason for anyone to lie to him because he was slowly learning that everyone was in the same position he was.

"I see." The other part of him didn't want to accept it, and would hold on to the possibility that River was here and awake, he just hadn't found her yet. The thought that they'd been separated was unbearable, and it was just easier to stay in denial.

"Do you know where Kaylee is?"
governorkang: (Neutral)

"I'm not sure. Somewhere in this room, more than likely; it's hard to spot her in this crowd," Kang peered over people's heads, trying to find the girl. It didn't help that she had one of the most common hair colors for a human.

Well, if anyone would be able to pick someone out in this throng of people, Simon assumed it would be the very tall Kang.

"I'll keep looking." There didn't seem to be much to do besides that. "Thank you. For your help, I mean."
governorkang: (Having fun)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-04-03 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Not a problem," Kang shrugged, smiling. "You're a friend of Kaylee's, and I like the girl."

[identity profile] doc-pompous.livejournal.com 2010-04-04 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Kaylee was honestly hard not to like. Unless you were dead inside and hated really nice people.

Come to think of it, he had no idea how long Kaylee had been here. It was difficult to wrap his mind around, mostly because he'd just seen her aboard Serenity. This whole time-space thing was going to take some getting used to.

"I should find her."
governorkang: (This is fun / Go fish!)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-04-04 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
Kaylee just had this thing about her, where she made everyone in a room happier just by being there.

Kang nodded, "I'll make sure to tell her you're here if I find her before you do."

"I'd appreciate that."

Simon was feeling a bit relieved already with that knowledge. Finding Kang again would definitely be easy, so if he got really lost, there would always be that.

"Thank you again." He hoped the appreciation was evident in his voice before he made his way back into the crowd.
