'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Tycho was right behind Wedge. "Gav! ..." He paused, chuckling. "You're so young. Force!" He turned to look at Wedge. "Was he ever really this young?" he asked, a smile crinkling his eyes.

The sound of a familiar voice, well, two voices caused Gavin to spin on his feet straight to where Wedge and Tycho were standing. He was all but ready to call out to them until he saw them. They were older than he remembered them. Way older or at least that much older to the 17-year-old pilot. His smile didn't fade though as he pushed his way to where his Commander and Captain were standing at. "Wedge! Tycho! Boy am I glad to see you two here. What the kriff is goin' on? One minute were getting ready for the mission next I know I'm waking up covered in goo that could make a bantha sneezing on a person look tame."

Of course the youth thrust his hand out toward both in turn with the widest of smiles split across his face in spite of the situation. If Wedge and Tycho was there then they surely knew exactly what was going on or of the Bothans had made the Admiral change the mission yet again.

"Of course he was. I think the real question is if we were ever that young." Wedge replied, grinning at Tycho before he took Gavin's hand.

"Good to see you, Gavin. I was hoping we'd have a few more pilots show up this time around. We need you, that's for damn sure."

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
"I know I wasn't," Tycho smirked at Wedge. "I was born old and responsible, remember?"

He took Gavin's hand and used it to pull the younger pilot into a hug. "It's good to see you kiddo," he said as he pulled back with a smile, "even if you are a lot younger than you should be."

He nodded at Wedge's words. "Unfortunately, what's going on is exactly what Stacy told you, as far as we know," Tycho said gravely. "What that means for us though is we still have people to protect, and a war to fight. We've still got Rogue Squadron on this ship ... do I even need to ask if you're in?"

[identity profile] rogues-luck.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not that young, guys. Well not as young as I was when you two decided to take a chance on me." When Tycho pulled him in to a hug he slapped the other man on the back gladly returning it. "Stacy didn't say much of anything just we were here for 'some great purpose' and last I checked the whole mystic thing was reserved for the Jedi." The chuckle the younger man gave was only slightly forced with a sprinkle of hesitation. He was pretty sure last time he checked he was no Luke Skywalker.

Gavin's brows rose a little as he looked between Tycho to Wedge the back again. "The rest of the squad is here? Where's Corran? Ven? Erisi?" If the rest of the Rogues were here then that meant there ships were possibly there as well!

[identity profile] yubyubcommander.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Erisi. Wedge grimaced slightly at the mention of her name and glanced at Tycho. Probably better to avoid that subject, for now anyway.

"Not exactly the same. I started it up when I came on board. It's...a lot of volunteers from the crew, and other folks as they come out of the pods. Myself, Tycho, Luke, Jaina Solo and Mara Jade are all involved from our home. The rest are, well, they're pretty raw. More than you used to be, some of them." Wedge shrugged. "We're doing what we can with what we have, but we can always use more pilots."

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-04-04 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Tycho's expression went carefully blank at the mention of Erisi. It had been a long time ago, and he had been ultimately cleared of her attempts to frame him, which was the important thing. Still, knowing there had been a traitor in their very squadron stung, even now.

Tycho nodded at Wedge's words. "Right, we have 2 dozen x-wings and about 15 pilot and pilots in training? Close to that anyway. If you and Kyle both join, we would have two more, obviously." Tycho smiled and clapped Gavin on the shoulder again. "It's good to see you kid, really it is."

[identity profile] rogues-luck.livejournal.com 2010-04-04 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Jaina Solo? Han had a sister? Well that was news to him. Not really surprising news, but still news nevertheless. And Mara Jade? Neither of the names were something he was familiar with sadly. However one name that was mentioned caused the younger man to blink. "Luke's here?" It had been years since he had seen Biggs' friend. He had just been a kid the last time the elder Darklighter had allowed his little cousin to tag along on a visit to the Lars' homestead.

"Wait did you say two dozen? How did Stacy manage that when we about had to beg, steal, and barrow just to get a few replaced?" It was hard to hide the grin that was across Gavin's face at the thought of that many X-wings in one place. Would take some time modifying them back to what he had his own craft set at... but he was more than willing to do the work again. "Hey I'm just sad I'm late to the party. How long have you two been here? And what is with the gray there, Captain? I didn't think we were that stress inducing."

[identity profile] yubyubcommander.livejournal.com 2010-04-04 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
"My guess is because she's an interdimensional refugee ship who doesn't have to go through all the red tape." Wedge shrugged, grinning ruefully.

"As it is, I'm thinking of keeping four as spares or for parts if we need them, set our numbers at twenty." He paused a moment. "Uh, that's colonel, Gavin. And I've been here a few months. Tycho a little less."

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-04-06 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Tycho smiled gently at Gavin. "It's not you all who are stress inducing," he noted. "And for Wedge and me, Gavin, it's been 6 years since the battle for Coroscant. I'm a Colonel and Wedge is a General, now."

He nodded at Wedge's words. "I've been here about a month, yes. Time is a little strange here on Stacy though ... sometimes it's hard to keep track of."

[identity profile] rogues-luck.livejournal.com 2010-04-06 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Why yes the younger man was blinking a lot. What? How was this...? When did they...? Six years?! That couldn't even be possible could it? For the first time since he had seen the two he quickly checked for rank badges or anything. Not that they would lie to him, but jokes were pretty well used amongst those in the squadron. However it fit well with ages and the lines they both had on their faces. Thankfully Gavin wasn't the sort prone to any headaches from thinking that hard quite yet. "Seriously?"

"We... I.. Well, that's to say, we were just heading off to Coruscant when I woke here." The youth glanced between Wedge and Tycho allowing one brow to curiously arch upward. "We do it?"

[identity profile] yubyubcommander.livejournal.com 2010-04-07 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course we do it. We're Rogue Squadron." Wedge quipped, giving Gavin a bright smile. He shrugged, crossed his arms.

"It's hard to keep track of time, really. There's no real day and night cycle."

[identity profile] sonofalderaan.livejournal.com 2010-04-10 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Tycho chuckled. "What Wedge said," he agreed. "Impossible is what we do, remember?"

"It's hard to keep track of a lot of things," Tycho agreed. "It takes some getting used to, living on Stacy. It's easier when you have someone you know, though." He shoots Wedge a grateful glance. "Speaking of though, if we're going to keep having people from the squadron turn up like this, we should do something about living arrangements. It would be better to have us all together, wouldn't it, Wedge? Safer that way, if we have another kind of internal ship threat ..."

"Just like home then."

Living on the ships in space were always the same as far as cycles went. People tried to keep some sort of standard cycle, though it was hard. Different shifts required different times and, if you were like the pilots, that was never ever a set thing. However at the mention of internal ship threat Gavin was soon raising a questioning brow. So they had already been causing trouble on the ship eh? Typical Rogue ways then.
