'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Lady of the Abyss. It was Tanis Half-Elven, the Hero of the Lance. Or, well, he would have been, if it weren't for the Ohm. Kang knew he'd seen Tanis before, too, and it was bugging him.

"That's... a long story, that has to do with the War you all got involved in, around five or so years in your future," he chose his words carefully. "My kind were created for that war, which is why you don't know of us."

[identity profile] notmannotelf.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
And have a shocked Half Elf now, well more shocked at least.

"You were created for war? By who..." He stops a moment, only one power could create monsters... "Black magic..." The words are more a thought, though he looks up. "You said five years from my future. I have to know, who returned." He's now worried that the twins didn't. Caramon would follow Raist into the Abyss if it meant he could protect his twin. "Surely if I'm known, that would have been spread by the bards." He didn't want to know if Kang had met him personally before.

Okay, part of him did, but he didn't want to tempt fate too much.

"Takhisis. And yes, about five years. I'm not sure what you mean about who returned, though," Kang remarked, crossing his arms over his chest. This was... well, awkward would be an understatement.

The tip of his tail moved back and forth slowly as he tried to figure out when he'd seen Tanis in person before. Flint Fireforge, the dwarf. Sturm, the Solamnic knight. He would have traveled with Raistlin, his brother, and the kender as well.

...the swamp. The wicker dragon. That's where the bozak knew the half-elf from.

He began to laugh, hard enough that his wingtips shook.

Takhisis... The dark Queen... He remembered the name whispered by Raistlin.

"Returned to Solace. We were supposed to meet again at Otik's in five years." He looked at the Draconian a moment realizing he was laughing. "Whatever happened I have a feeling I was only involved because the Kender dragged me into it."

It took a few moments for Kang to get control of himself. "I can't believe it. We had the Heroes of the Lance as prisoners, and they got away. They got away." He'd thought those prisoners had drowned in the swamp!

"If I remember the story right, all but Kitiara showed up, and that's the night when you were dragged into the war. You're all heroes," he shook his head.

[identity profile] notmannotelf.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
He sighed at that, he had a feeling she wouldn't.

Wait...

"What do you mean? You had us as prisoners?" This did make him step back a little, wondering now if he should trust Kang. "Do I even want to know how we escaped? Don't tell me it was actually because of Tas."

When I see him again I'm so hugging the Kender though if that's the case. I'll even give him what ever's in my pocket at the time

"Not going to lie to you. My kind, we weren't on the 'good' side of the war. We murdered, stole and worse, and we don't regret any of it. Early on, you all got captured in the swamps outside of Xak Tsaroth, and escaped after causing a fair bit of mayhem. The kender was involved in your escape; I have to say, you made our little prank even better," Kang chuckled. "I should be pissed at the fact that we could have won the war by killing you all right there, but I find myself not really giving a damn."

[identity profile] notmannotelf.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Tanis shook his head, if Tas was involved and the man was laughing it must have been a good prank.

"Well I do hope that you still don't want to kill me, because I don't even know how I'd attempt to fight you."

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-04-02 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
"War's been over for over thirty years," Kang pointed out with a snort. "Past is past. And honestly? We need everyone we can get for our current situation."

[identity profile] notmannotelf.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
"So I've gathered, though..." He never really wanted to fight, he learned because it was something to do, but he was an artist at heart.

"How bad is the situation here? I caught some of it, and figured that's why my sword and bow were waiting. Though I couldn't find my quiver. Shouldn't be hard to make arrows though, as long as there's a forge I can make arrow heads." it was a sobering thought, working with someone he now knew should be his enemy, but Kang really hadn't made any threatening moves.

Kang's tail twitched, "The Ohm have destroyed worlds on multiple universes, and we're survivors. I figure you already got that much. We still don't have much information, though." He paused, eyeing Tanis's bow. "I believe there is a smith offering her services, but it may do you some good to learn how to use some of the more... advanced weaponry here."

[identity profile] notmannotelf.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
But, but... he loves his Bows would so be lip quivering at the idea, but...

"I'll have to look at them. I'm still unsure of the magic here."
governorkang: (Having fun)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-04-02 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
"A lot of it isn't magic. Technology, machines, like the gnomes made, but it actually works," Kang's wings lifted slightly. "It's amazing what they've learned, and what they've done with that knowledge."

Once an engineer, always an engineer.

[identity profile] notmannotelf.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
"The thought of gnomes made him pale a moment. "I'll take your word on it and would rather see someone else use it before I try. Just to be on the safe side. I've heard the horror stories about gnome inventions."
governorkang: (What / This is stupid)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-04-02 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
"I've seen them used, and used 'em myself once. We had a problem to take care of recently where blades didn't work very well," Kang said dryly. He still had a bandage on his left wing membrane from that, and new scars on the end of his tail.

[identity profile] notmannotelf.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
Tanis frowns a little at this. "Guess I'll have to learn then. And usually I'm more of a strategist." He shrugged, as long as he was needed somewhere he'd play the role, it was always his way.
governorkang: (Well shit / Disgusting)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-04-02 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Kang snorted, "As was I, though I have no problems holding my own in combat." He definitely looked it, too; he (and Fonrar) hadn't allowed himself to slack off after retiring from the military. "Didn't want to get involved in war again. We have to do a lot of things we don't like, though."

[identity profile] notmannotelf.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Tanis nodded in agreement. "Well, guess I have to live up to an image anyway."

It was still startling to know that he was one. He always thought that would stay more to Sturm's lifestyle not his.
governorkang: (o rly bozak)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-04-02 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Quirking an eyebrow ridge, Kang pointed out, "Unless someone else from Krynn recently woke up, I'm the only one on the ship that knows about what you were to become. And it's exactly that; future. Potential. Don't go trying to prove yourself to everyone and get yourself killed for it."

It was awkward, certainly, to be having a civil conversation with Tanis, but he really held no ill feelings toward the half-elf.

[identity profile] notmannotelf.livejournal.com 2010-04-03 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll leave that for Sturm and Caramon if they ever arrive. Don't worry, I'll be around for a long while." He couldn't help but chuckle. "If I was told this would happen before arriving I would have sworn I was foolish and tried to help Caramon out drink Flint..." The memory of his 'last night' was still fresh in his mind.
