'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

And just... have a look.

This look in the icon, in fact. Vega'd been talking so quickly that Kira had barely been able to keep up with it, but he'd caught a few things. "Wait, wait! You're talking too-- what do you mean, our worlds are gone?"

"I think so," says Vega, scratching the back of his neck. "That's what the ship said, and what everyone keeps saying." He makes a face a little bit. "So we have to go get them back, I guess. Somehow."

The hows and whys don't seem to difficult in his mind. Just vague.

Kira felt his breath catch in his throat. Gone? How could all of it be gone? Even if Lacus was save, what about the others?! He - Vega had to be misunderstanding it somehow, right? Or pulling a joke?

But no, he didn't seem to be. The kid seemed as honest and earnest as he'd ever been.

"...they're really gone? That's..."

Vega shrugs. "I... that's what everybody says." He hunches a little. "But I mean, it just means we have to beat the guys who did it. They said so, so it should be right. Right?"

"If it's true, then... beating them won't bring anything back, will it?"

Kira's hands balled reflexively - there was a knot in his stomach, something that made him feel sick. Had all of it been for nothing, then? Had all of their hopes been false; had everything they'd striven for been in vain?

"Who's 'they'?"

"The Daligig," says Vega. "They're the aliens that made Stacy. They said the Ohm have something that we could use to make it better again, maybe? We gotta get that."

"What? Something to make it better again?"

He shook his head. "That's not possible. You can't just... bring back what's been lost." But then again, you couldn't travel through time, or visit other worlds - and they were doing that, weren't they?

He put a hand to his forehead. "...can you? Can they?"

"I don't know, it's what they said."

Vega exhales. "I really hope it works. Because if it doesn't..."

There's not much else he has to say, really. The world being gone, it's still hard for him to fully imagine. Sarah. All the Zoids. All the other pilots. Everybody he ever saw. Gone.

It just seems somehow... too big to be wiped out. And the words can't convince him it's entirely true.

Vega doesn't need to finish that sentence, because Kira knows exactly what he's thinking. "...I know," he says, quietly. He still feels vaguely sick to his stomach.

Can any of the Daligig be trusted? What would Lacus try to tell him if she was here?

Kira really wished he knew.

Vega fidgets a little bit uncomfortably, he doesn't like this subject much.

"Well, I guess if you're awake that means you can do something about it. So that's better than sleeping," he offers.

"That's true," Kira says at a moment and offers Vega what's almost a smile. "I can."

"We all will. It'll be okay," Vega says firmly.

He has to believe that. What else can he do?
