'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Hikari sighed, frowning and standing out of the way from the rest of the newer people who had hatched out of the pods. Tailmon was by her side at least, but even so everyone else... her brother, Takeru... Daisuke... everyone. They were gone.

Tailmon stayed close to her. It was obvious to the girl hat her partner didn't really trust anyone on the ship yet.

Ben had decided to come down and meet the new people, when he noticed the brown haired Japanese girl sitting to the side. Something about her...

He didn't really notice, but he walked up and raised a hand in greeting. "Hi, are you one of the new arrivals? I'm Ben."

Hikari nodded. "Oh... hello. I'm..." she paused a bit. "My name's Hikari," she said, looking over at Ben, deciding to give her given name since he did the same to her.

Tailmon's eyes narrowed a bit.

Hikari forced a smile. "Oh, this is Tailmon," she said, gesturing down to Tailmon. "Come on, introduce yourself."

Tailmon just sighed. "Hello."

Ben looked at Tailmon, and then at Hikari. "Alien cat?" he ventured curiously. He hadn't seen this kind of animal before but it was obviously intelligent. And possibly grumpy. And possibly protective too.

"Well, I know it sounds lame but welcome to Stacy. This is a pretty big place and I can answer as much as I can. I hope."

Hikari blinked. "Umm... no. Not really. Tailmon's my digimon partner..." she said. "And... thank you. But I... everything's gone..." she said, frowning.

"I know that feels, we all do." Said Ben sympathetically. "Most of us are something along the lines of heroes, some of us trying to live our lives normally. Different countless worlds gone in an instant. Some of us even saved entire galaxies. So yeah, I know how it's like."

He sighed. "The problem we all face, is how helpless we feel having lost everything. But we didn't, not yet at any rate."

Hikari and Tailmon both blinked at him. "What... do you mean?" she asked. Her world was gone. That part was obvious with what Stacy had told her.

"Whoever built Stacy make certain to save as much of our worlds as possible, including people." said Ben. "You know the pod cavern down there you came out of? That's a holding bay, for a few million refugees or so. I lost count after a thousand. In any case, the chance of your friends and family being there is fairly high."

He smiled. "Cheer up, if you're lucky you'll see people you know. And of course, there's people here, good people, who're willing to help those who needs help."

Hikari smiled a bit this time. "I... yeah, you're right. But... still... we went to all the trouble to save the world so many times... and now..."

Ben chuckled. "Hey, if it makes you feel better? I'm known as Ben 10, the savior of the galaxy. And I STILL let mine go boom out of my control. But they say that the Dialgig might have a way to return our worlds to normal, so we have to keep on moving forward."

Hikari and Tailmon just blinked. "Really? They can..." she said, tears forming in her eyes a bit.

"That's what they say at least," said Ben. "So far, they haven't done anything to disprove the theory. So we got to keep moving for as long as we can."

"By the way, has anyone shown you the city yet? There's places to live down there instead of the crew quarters. I know Matt's looking for people to come and live in the bus dorms."

Hikari smiled, and then pounced Ben, flinging her arms around him, sobbing into his chest.

Tailmon just stared for a few moments, before Hikari moved away from him. "I... sorry... but I'm just..." She shook her head. "Anyway, no, I haven't."

"Whoof," oofed Ben at the tackle-hug. He blushed a little at the hug and the way she cried into his chest before she pulled back. "Hey not a problem. The ships really big and its a little scary for anyone who manages to find themselves without friends or family here already."

"Tell you what. Why don't you and I go meet a few more people, talk around and get to know the crew. And then when the dust settles, I'll introduce you to the caretaker Matt and we can set you up with a room? It's arguably a lot less creepy than sleeping on a squishie organic bed."

Hikari nodded. "Thank you..."

Tailmon sighed, moving up closer to Hikari. "Yeah, that'd probably be for the best."

Ben grinned as he offered his hand. "C'mon, I'll show you around then."

It was hard not to notice the young girl standing off to the side looking uneasy as the adults swarmed around the room. The small, cat-like creature with large ears and claws sticking close to her made her stand out even more. Reyna hated seeing some one so young look so unhappy, so she excused herself from the rest of the new arrivals and made her way over to her.

"Hi there," she said warningly, kneeling down and tilting her head slightly as she spoke. "I'm Reyna. Are you okay? Did you need anything?"

Hikari blinked. "Oh... umm... I'm alright... kinda. Not really..." She said, shaking her head and moving to take Tailmon into her arms. "It's just... everything..."

She nodded sympathetically. She could only imagine how hard it must be for her to deal with everything when most of the adults were having trouble coping. She put a comforting hand on the girl's shoulder, being careful not to startle the animal she was hugging tightly.

"What's your name sweetie?" she asked softly. "And what's your friend's name?"

[ooc: Just noticed that "warmly" got auto-corrected to "warningly." DO'H! Sorry about that...]

Hikari smiled a bit. "I'm Yagami Hikari..." she said, hugging Tailmon tighter to her.

Tailmon just sighed. "My name's Tailmon."

Reyna blinked in surprise when Tailmon spoke to her. She had assumed that the creature was simply treasured pet, not a sentient being. It was a mistake she should have known better than to make, especially coming as she did from such a society as diverse as the Republic's. She took it in stride though and did what she could to smooth things over.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you both," she said with a smile before turning to address Tailmon. "Please forgive me if I seemed rude earlier. I'm not familiar with your species and didn't realize that you were capable of verbally communicating with me directly."

Tailmon nodded. "It's alright, most people don't at first." Which was true, at least for humans who didn't know what digimon were anyway.

"Thank you. It's unfortunate that most people make the same mistake I did, but in a way I'm glad to know that I am not the only one who has done so." Reyna shifted a bit so that she could address Yagami and Tailmon at the same time before continuing.

"Is there anything I can do to make things easier for either of you? I'm sure all of this must have been just as a terrible for the two of you as it was for the rest of us." She guessed that if anything it had probably more traumatic for someone as young as Yagami.

Hikari just shook her head. "No, I don't think there's... anything."

Reyna couldn't help putting a comforting hand on Yagami's shoulder and rubbing it gently.

"Okay, if you're sure." She removed her hand and briefly considered trying to comfort Tailmon as well, but since she didn't know how his (her?) species felt about being touched like that she decided against it.

"Well, if you change your mind, you come find me, okay?" Reyna gave them both an encouraging smile as she stood up. "Even if you just want to talk."

With a friendly wave Reyna walked back to the crowd and gracefully inserted herself into one of the many conversations taking place.
