'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Ah. Artificial intelligence, then?" Even more intriguing. He would have to look into this. Apparently the people here were comfortable with AIs. Or more comfortable than those he was used to working with, at least.

"Doctor Mordin Solus."

"We still don't know much, about either the Ohm or the Daligig," Luke continued. "Hopefully, we get told more, so we can start to formulate a better idea of what needs to be done and what kind of resources we've got to work with."

"You just woke up from a stasis pod on an alien spaceship covered in alien snot - oh and did I mention the ship is alive and half the people here shouldn't be?" Yeah, sarcasm is Trudy's normal mode of operation, and being in stressful situations makes her way more sarcastic than normal.

Someone shipped to deep-space outposts knows that, due to travel times and relativity, anyone they left back home would be long dead by the time they ever returned. But Trudy had at least had the comfort of knowing that her family was going about their lives quietly. To have them all wiped out? That made her edgy. More than edgy, it made her angry. "Besides if they wanted to tell us a lie to conscript us into whatever, they would have made up a better lie than that."

"Empress? You're a princess then." Matt grinned at that and thoughtfully added, "Well there'd have to be a big coronation ceremony first, with flowers and music and twenty men at arms..."

"Yeah, you should be graduated by now, if it's '01. In college? Is Jake? How'd that whole Y2K thing go over?" Normal questions, normal conversation. "Tell you what, first thing I'm going to do is burn my math book, with great unending pleasure." He grinned, following Marco out of the room.

The host was observing, but quiet, listening and paying attention to what was going on, but not attempting to interact.

<I'm hardly going to infest him. He'd make a terrible host.>

<You're an idiot.>

He paused, reassessing the situation for a moment. Occasionally the host saw things he missed, but it was just Marco...Marco was harmless. It would be like acting frightened at Sara or Jordan. "So, what exactly is going on?"

The sound of a familiar voice, well, two voices caused Gavin to spin on his feet straight to where Wedge and Tycho were standing. He was all but ready to call out to them until he saw them. They were older than he remembered them. Way older or at least that much older to the 17-year-old pilot. His smile didn't fade though as he pushed his way to where his Commander and Captain were standing at. "Wedge! Tycho! Boy am I glad to see you two here. What the kriff is goin' on? One minute were getting ready for the mission next I know I'm waking up covered in goo that could make a bantha sneezing on a person look tame."

Of course the youth thrust his hand out toward both in turn with the widest of smiles split across his face in spite of the situation. If Wedge and Tycho was there then they surely knew exactly what was going on or of the Bothans had made the Admiral change the mission yet again.

It took a few moments for Kang to get control of himself. "I can't believe it. We had the Heroes of the Lance as prisoners, and they got away. They got away." He'd thought those prisoners had drowned in the swamp!

"If I remember the story right, all but Kitiara showed up, and that's the night when you were dragged into the war. You're all heroes," he shook his head.

"It's alright," he said as he got a good look at the woman finally. He had never seen eyes like that before. At least not on anyone that looked that human. "And I find times of trouble are the best to make new friends. Kyle Katarn pleased to meet you. So you're a student of Kenobi's?"

[identity profile] notmannotelf.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
He shook his head. "Half human on my father's side. Spent most my childhood with mother's people." And here he was hoping to hide his ear points.

"Oh, I'll be glad to, Signum-san!" Vivio said, a bright smile on her face. "I'd do it now, but..."

Yeah, there's a lot of people in here, so...

"Yep. AI without a robot I can use, which means that for right now? I'm stuck being intangible."

She perks noticeably at the mention of his title. "Doctor, huh? We could always use more of those. If there's more doctors overall? That means Doc gets fewer patients." From the way she says it, this counts as good thing.

"Of course he was. I think the real question is if we were ever that young." Wedge replied, grinning at Tycho before he took Gavin's hand.

"Good to see you, Gavin. I was hoping we'd have a few more pilots show up this time around. We need you, that's for damn sure."

"Well, that depends on what you mean by 'others,'" said a cheerful voice from behind him belonging to one auburn-haired mage. "There are plenty of us here! I'd be happy to help out if you needed anything."

Ashley raised an eyebrow at Chief's title, but decided not to comment on that. "All right." She sighed a little bit before continuing. "How did I get here? The last thing I remember was the Normandy being destroyed and Shepard was... I don't know."

"Thanks...uh. Fly safe?"

<A flying man! Really!>

"Apollo, right? If I need anything I'll give you a call then, thanks for your help."

"End of the world, last of our people, might be others but don't count on it, fight evil, save the universe." Tenaya ticked off each point on her fingers, retreating into the safety of sarcasm. It was easy to forget the weaknesses of human emotion when she acted as she did when she thought she was a machine.

"Anything else, or does that cover it?"

Negi nodded, pulling at the sleeves and rolling up the living outfit until he was in a fairly bunched up but baggy outfit. And then, quite suddenly it started to compress and tighten. Negi squeaked in surprise as it wrapped in close and formed to him like a second skin.

"... do we really go out in these?" asked Negi incredulously at the fairly tight fit.

"Well what do you want Aniki, yellow and black spandex?"

"Captain Kirk is currently in command of the ship. There's also Master Chief, a fellow named Elfangor, Red Snout, and a few others. I might be able to answer any questions you have, though," Kang crossed his arms over his chest. "It's a lot to take in."

[identity profile] nothefarragut.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure Kirk will be. It," Uhura hesitated ever so slightly, "is loud." It was more than loud for her, maybe more so than most people, and she was beginning to need that quiet. The dull throb of an incoming headache from all the stimuli was the equivalent of a warning shot across the bow.

"Please," she said, and her fingers just barely grazed his arm.

[identity profile] notmannotelf.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
He sighed at that, he had a feeling she wouldn't.

Wait...

"What do you mean? You had us as prisoners?" This did make him step back a little, wondering now if he should trust Kang. "Do I even want to know how we escaped? Don't tell me it was actually because of Tas."

When I see him again I'm so hugging the Kender though if that's the case. I'll even give him what ever's in my pocket at the time

Ben tried not to bristle at the mocking tone and nearly rolled a 1 on the Idiot Check. "Well yeah that about covers it. There's things and items here from our worlds, sometimes buildings in the city and we're always looking for people to help out keeping everything together."

"I'm certain Laevateinn will need maintenance periodically, so I'll be counting on you."

She looks back over to the crowd after a few moments.

"This is all rather strange," she said somewhat quietly. After all, only a handful of the people aboard this ship seemed to be from TSAB controlled space, despite it's rather vast influence. Not to mention the sheer number of people this ship seemed to have abducted.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Katara sighed. "If we go off world," she said. "Honestly, if I could actually get to do that for a little bit, it'd be nice. But every time you think it might be a normal day, something strange happens. You never get the chance to even breathe."

She smiled. "Well, normally I have hair loopies, but I like it long a little too. Still, short hair is SO much simpler and really neat to look at!"

Katara giggled at the mateaphor. "I don't think I could pull off your look either, but thanks!"

"I can't believe you're here! And look at you! Ain't no beanpole no more are you, Sprou-" Whatever Gwen had been about to say was cut short, looking up at the bearded man with now wide eyes. She was hugging a man that looked exactly like the genius mechanic Hunter Williams had looked like just older. Instantly her cheeks started to blush bright red in a color that could almost rival her hair. "Ah.. Oh. Sure you ain't just pullin' a little joke on me or somethin? Because you sure do look like him."

Dropping her arms back to her side Gwen took a respectable distance between this Kyle Katarn finding keeping them there was just going to make her antsy. So instead she crossed her arms tight across her chest simply studying the man from head to toe. Oh she was so going to be mad at Stacy if this was a case of mistaken identity.
