If You Need a Doctor, I'll Examine Every Inch of You [Phys Evals; Open]

Ever since the medical briefing on the comms, the medical bay staff has been preparing for an influx of appointments for physical evaluations, as well as a few walk-ins. After that, the hunt will be on for those who've been skipping such appointments.

A few of the staff members are going about their regular duties, expecting patients or simply biding time at the coffee machine until they're called on.

"I um... Am a pretty strict vegetarian and may have nanobots in my blood and some genetic conditioning? Things like that? I'm human if that helps."

Sakura nodded with a smile. "Exactly. Anything like that, and it's good to know you're human as a baseline species. What can you tell me about the genetic conditioning and nanobots? Do they react to foreign energies and presences in your system? Would they interfere with antibiotics or blood transfusions?"

"They make it so I can breathe water and high and low pressure don't cause negative physical issues. I don't know much other than that. They haven't intervened with antibiotics in the past, I've never had a blood transfusion but it'd probably be a bad idea for me to give blood. There aren't a lot of doctors on my home world that aren't from Solaris so I don't have a lot of the specifics there."

Sakura made notations, nodding as she took stock of what was being said. "No giving, then, but you may be fine for donations if needed. Mind if I take a sample? It's a touch with this thing, on your inner arm."

She held up a glowing apple-shaped object with a tiny straw-like portion that stuck out. "Looks ridiculous, but works like a charm. No poking necessary!"

So why had she let Howard use a needle on Barbara? Reasons.

Maria looks a bit confused at the apple, but has seen so many odd things she stopped caring, that led to too many headaches.

"Um, sure. The team that made them is all dead so I can't really say much more about them but I don't mind. And if that's what you have instead of needles as long as it works."

Sakura handled the apple creation with deftness, taking the sample that would get run through different tests (half that she and Howard would guess at as far as applicability). Done in a flash, she smiled. "Outside of the basic form fill-out, and what you've just mentioned, is there anything like allergies that you want to make sure we're aware of? Any way we shouldn't seek to treat your injuries?"

"The standard medical nanopackages seemed to work well enough. I don't really know a whole lot about medical things though to say one way or another. I don't think I'm allergic to anything but have limited experience."

"I'll run you on a full panel of known allergens, in that case. Won't cover everything, but it can bring up things in Hydroponics and possible world-environment conflicts in the future."

Sakura made a note for herself. "We'd rather not have people find out the hard way."

"No, makes perfect sense to me, especially if this is some sort of a war ship. But I don't know of any plant allergies I have so I never really thought about it."

"Some sort of warship?"

Sakura snorted, amused. "It's a repossessed prison ship drafted into Daligig control and reoutfitted to work as a glorified container for millions of people in a state of suspended animation, caught up in a war at least againsta world and universe destroying species." The medic offered a small smile. "There's no real if about it."

"I was told that if I stayed here I'd have a shot at whatever it was that supposedly blew up my home. That sounds kind of like a war to me and I'm glad to take swings at things like that."

"The Ohm," Sakura said with a nod. "If that gets into another discussion, but yes. We've had a few direct confrontations with them so far. You'll have your chance in the future. In the meantime?"

Sakura smiled, looking up from her datapad. "We'll help make sure you're healthy enough to take that swing when it's the time for it. I think I've got most the generals we need, unless there's any other condition you feel should be discussed."

"Not that I can think of. Honestly I've really just been worried about keeping my Seibzehn in good shape. Its the only semi regular thing I know here."

"Your Seibzehn?" Sakura sounded her way slowly through the unfamiliar word. Must be some sort of proper noun.

"Large blue combat gear that my father built for me. We've been together since I was a little girl."

She nodded, glad that there was something of home for the other woman to hold on to. "Something you found in the armory, or somewhere else? I'm glad you have it, either way."

"Seibzehn was waiting for me in the hangar. We're linked so I honestly don't know what I'd do without."

[encourage]

"Linked? What do you mean?" Sakura wondered if it was going to need to be on file. Some connections to outside people or objects had to be by their very nature.

"Neural linkage. I think the nanomachines in my blood are what cause the link. Its been that way since the experiments when I was little, its why I don't have any ether control."

[encourage]

"I'm afraid I'm not familiar with ether. That has to do with what, exactly?" More noteworthy abnormalities to keep track of, even if by sheer absence alone?

"Oh, a lot of families including mine can do things... Some of the peasants called it magic and such, but it was just fine control of ether in the air. Doc used it to heal wounds, Elly used it to channel elements. Some of it can be pretty impressive in the hands of a master."

It was close enough in theory to natural chakras in the world that Sakura only nodded, filing the information away as trivia to review some other day. "I imagine it can be. Is anyone else on ship awake and from your world, as far as you know?"

Maria pauses for a while before looking down and shaking her head.

"No, apparently I have a lot of avenging to do."

"There's nothing to avenge. Don't even think of things like that."

There was an element of steel in Sakura's voice at those words. Vengeance did nothing more than destroy the people who chose to embrace it. For a new awakee to attempt that kind of life?

It sat too close to her own experiences. Sakura didn't like it at all.

"If they destroyed the city I'm from and protected... There kind of is."
