There's always work to be done!
At least in Hit girl's mind, that was the way things rolled.
And for Mindy, if you wanted to take the two separately, that idea carried over. Sure, there was plenty of training to do, and god knows she had several sparring partners by now, but maintaining her civilian identity was just as important. As it so happened though, there was just as much stuff for Mindy to do as Hit Girl. Specifically, this house took a LOT of care and cleaning, something that Ruffnut was more than happy to let Mindy spearhead. So inside work had involved mopping, sweeping, dusting, window washing and all the while contending with the ghosts. With Ruffnut doing whatever she was doing at this time, Mindy was more than happy to carry on conversations with the house ghouls and was now, in fact, quite used to them being there. Sure, they were a bit cold with her right now because Hana was a fall out with Ruffnut (for some fucking reason or another) but there was no pranking at her, and likewise she was respectful of them.
They were ghosts, for Christsake. Did you really want to piss them off?
Right now Mindy was hard at work, painting the front of the building after making sure she had piled up some leftover debris from the latest piece of shit falling apart, and was wiping her forehead a moment. She was dressed in a plain short sleeve shirt and work pants, her hair in a ponytail, looking a little tired.
God, she wasn't even done with most of her work today.

Of course, it was hard to do when you had so many spirit friends haunting the place, coming to see you, telling you they miss you, feeling the spiritual energy call to him if he walked to close to the houses district.
He still dare not risk even walking down its street.
But he was in a seriously good mood today, better than he'd been in ages. And the pull of so many spirits wanting to see the young Shaman was too much to pass up.
He leant against a wall on the corner of the castles street, trying to ignore the funny feeling in the pit of his stomach. This was as close as he would get, and even this was pushing it.
He'd wait and catch a few of the passing spirits
they like to go for the occasional stroll too, you know, have the word spread and most of them would come out to see him. Then he'd have talked to a good many of his spirit pals before it was time to head back.Barely any time had passed before he'd accumulated a small crowd of unseen spirits, all clamoring for his attention, trying to say what they'd been doing the past several days.
He became so wrapped up in the numerous conversations, that he'd forgotten where he was and relaxed. True, it was sort of odd to see a young boy talking animatedly to himself in a street, but Hana was kind of used to people being baffled by it (even if he was much better at hiding his oddities than his dad had ever been) and the City was hardly a bustling place of activity at any time of the day.
"Haha! Really? That's not nice, you guys, you know how touchy Josh can be. Yeh, I know you were just playing. Huh? Oh! You were just 'joshing' Josh! I get it! Good one!" The sweet giggles mixed with his hearty chuckles indicated he was speaking to a group of nature or holy spirits again.

In the end, she decided to greet him with a halfhearted, "Yo."

He turned slowly to face Mindy, movement heavy and forced. His throat had now started to feel unbearably dry and he licked his lips nervously.
"Hey." He finally said.
no subject
"How's it going man? I was wondering when I'd see you again. We haven't talked since that last time, remember?"
There. That should break the ice, or at least get him to see she wasn't holding resentment out on him.
no subject
"Yeh, I remember." That had been mere day or so before his fall out with Ruffnut. Back when he'd thought Mindy had maybe started to like him.
no subject
"So what the hell? All I know is that you and Ruff had some kind of fight I'm not supposed to mention or whatever. jhta gives?"
no subject
Was she messing with him? Rubbing it in his face, maybe? Mindy hadn't seemed the type. Then again, apparently he'd read her wrong before...
no subject
"Dude, come on. I'm really fucking bad at talking about feelings, but you can tell me why you and Ruffnut are fighting. I'm not making promises at being a good go to person, but I'll listen. I can't even understand why you two would be fighting in the first place. You both seem so...tight, you know?"
no subject
His eyes hardened, eyebrows slanting inwards and setting there, jaw clenching. He still refused to look at her.
He could tell her could he? They were allowed to know anything about him but he wasn't privy to jack crap about them? Because he wasn't good enough. Because he wasn't a friend.
"Why should I tell you anything?" He spat suddenly, venomously. It's not like she had returned the favor.
no subject
"I just said you didn't have to, but it might make you feel better," Hit Girl replied, looking even more confused. "Seriously, what the hell is this fight about anyway? Ruffnut didn't really want to say."

She thought it best to familiarize herself with the area. Know the escape routes. She didn't want to end up trapped down some alley when things went up the creek. And if she was setting up here, she'd need to know the best direction to flee in should something attack her in the middle of the night.
So she strolls casually down the streets, killing the day.
Oh, look, a little girl clearing out a creepy hotel that was practically begging for Scooby and the gang to come and investigate.
This should be fun.
The pretty teen walked over. "Someone's working hard."

"Gotta get all this crap cleaned," Mindy said, shaking her head. "The ghosts aren't helping either, they're kinda pissed for some reason. But this place isn't going to look all uninfected by itself."
She paused. "You're new, I think."

Like there weren't enough terrors already, now Diana had the idea of ghosts to deal with. Great.
She put on a smile. "That's me. A novice."
no subject
She quirked her eyebrow. "Novice? A novice in what?"
no subject
"In all things Stacy." Diana replied with just a hint of playfulness.
no subject
This was, of course, before her fight with Hana.
"Well, that's what you have other people for. Since you're out here in pretty much nowhere, I'm guessing you're mapping the place huh?"
no subject
Surviving and living through it though, that she could do, but no need to give that away.
Diana winks. "You're on top form with the guesses."
no subject
And of course, rough and tumble was what Mindy did best, something SHE didn't need to give away.
She grinned. "I was pod popped just like you, so I look for the signs."
no subject
Diana stepped closer, pretty dark eyes fixed on Mindy as she looked her over. "You're a smart one, aren't you? I can tell."
"How long since Crazy Stacy woke you up?"

Once he was pretty close to a strange building, he spotted a girl painting the front. Well, maybe he could help while passing more time, he was always pretty good with labor work.
The demon casually walked up to the girl, "Need help?"
no subject
She quirked her eyebrows. "Well, ignoring the whole 'I never met you' shit, do you really want to do menial work? I have a lot to do, and this place isn't pretty."
no subject
Ted eyed the pile of fallen debris, "could help you out on the lifting or anythin', got nothing better to do anyways."
no subject
She got to taping a moment later, then looked over at the new guest. "So what's your name?"
no subject
"Name's Ted," he said as he placed the debris where he was instructed.
no subject
"So what's your story, Ted?" She asked, although there was something that seemed very familiar about the name. She carefully picked up a piece of glass and deposited it in the garbage.
