There's always work to be done!
At least in Hit girl's mind, that was the way things rolled.
And for Mindy, if you wanted to take the two separately, that idea carried over. Sure, there was plenty of training to do, and god knows she had several sparring partners by now, but maintaining her civilian identity was just as important. As it so happened though, there was just as much stuff for Mindy to do as Hit Girl. Specifically, this house took a LOT of care and cleaning, something that Ruffnut was more than happy to let Mindy spearhead. So inside work had involved mopping, sweeping, dusting, window washing and all the while contending with the ghosts. With Ruffnut doing whatever she was doing at this time, Mindy was more than happy to carry on conversations with the house ghouls and was now, in fact, quite used to them being there. Sure, they were a bit cold with her right now because Hana was a fall out with Ruffnut (for some fucking reason or another) but there was no pranking at her, and likewise she was respectful of them.
They were ghosts, for Christsake. Did you really want to piss them off?
Right now Mindy was hard at work, painting the front of the building after making sure she had piled up some leftover debris from the latest piece of shit falling apart, and was wiping her forehead a moment. She was dressed in a plain short sleeve shirt and work pants, her hair in a ponytail, looking a little tired.
God, she wasn't even done with most of her work today.

"How's it going man? I was wondering when I'd see you again. We haven't talked since that last time, remember?"
There. That should break the ice, or at least get him to see she wasn't holding resentment out on him.
no subject
"Yeh, I remember." That had been mere day or so before his fall out with Ruffnut. Back when he'd thought Mindy had maybe started to like him.
no subject
"So what the hell? All I know is that you and Ruff had some kind of fight I'm not supposed to mention or whatever. jhta gives?"
no subject
Was she messing with him? Rubbing it in his face, maybe? Mindy hadn't seemed the type. Then again, apparently he'd read her wrong before...
no subject
"Dude, come on. I'm really fucking bad at talking about feelings, but you can tell me why you and Ruffnut are fighting. I'm not making promises at being a good go to person, but I'll listen. I can't even understand why you two would be fighting in the first place. You both seem so...tight, you know?"
no subject
His eyes hardened, eyebrows slanting inwards and setting there, jaw clenching. He still refused to look at her.
He could tell her could he? They were allowed to know anything about him but he wasn't privy to jack crap about them? Because he wasn't good enough. Because he wasn't a friend.
"Why should I tell you anything?" He spat suddenly, venomously. It's not like she had returned the favor.
no subject
"I just said you didn't have to, but it might make you feel better," Hit Girl replied, looking even more confused. "Seriously, what the hell is this fight about anyway? Ruffnut didn't really want to say."
no subject
It was so aggravating!
He'd sat with Ruffnut and Mindy and told them about his world, his powers and they'd thrown it back in his face with the simple, crushing fact of 'you don't need to know anything'.
no subject
"What the hell are you including me in this for? We only got to talk, like, once!"
no subject
no subject
"Then this is a mirage? Because I would think that what we were doing right now constitutes as talking."
Seriously, what was with this kid's moodswings?
no subject
no subject
"For starters? It might be nice to know why the fuck we seem to have a problem suddenly. We seemed to be getting along before, and now you're giving me the stink eye. Last time I checked, guys didn't have periods."
no subject
"Yeh, we did get along. But I didn't ask for this." He never did. He hadn't wanted this. Being thrown to the side again.
"But you're the ones who did this! Afterall, who gives a crap about anyone else? So long as you two can call all the shots!"
The air around them tensed and pulsed. A short burst of wind blasted Mindys face, pulling at her ponytail warningly. Confronting Hana whilst he was surrounded by spirits probably hadn't been the brightest idea.
no subject
Then the blast came, and all the confusion was gone from Mindy's face. In fact, there was now more Hit Girl there.
"I've killed people for less than that."
no subject
There were angry whispers surrounding them, hissing in Mindys ears. He hadn't caused the blast, it'd just been the spirits own doing, trying to push her away from their friend.
Hana didn't bother defending himself though. He stood firm.
"Then why don't you? It's not like you care about me anymore than those people you killed."
He wasn't sure he really believed that. That couldn't really be true... He hoped. But at least if he didn't have any expectations he couldn't be let down again.
no subject
It pissed her off, that he actually made her upset enough to threaten him. Why was he acting like this, for fucks sake?
no subject
no subject
Really, because she had gotten along so well with Hana the first time, she was not going to default to beating the shit out of him.
no subject
He tried his best to calm down. Breathing deep. Looking down at the floor.
"You two... Aren't my friends. You two... Don't want to be my friends..." He mumbled, barely audible.
He snapped again. No use. He was still incapable of controlling his emotions. Clenching his fists so hard his nails were making small crescent shapes in his palms he yelled at her again.
"Can I make it any clearer than that?!"
no subject
Because man, it was everything Morgan taught her not to haul off and punch him in the face. NO ONE yelled at her like this, and anyone who came close regretted it.
"What the hell made you think I don't want to be your friend?"
no subject
"You know what you did..."
His fist were shaking again, like a pot of water rapidly boiling over.
"YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID!"
He clapped his hands to his ears, pressing them against his head, squeezing until it hurt. Eyes snapped shut, salty water gathered at the corners, forming tears of anger, pain, frustration and sorrow. "I don't want to hear your fucking lies anymore!"
no subject
Mindy had reached her limit. She tried to hear him out, she even swalloewd being pushed and yelled at, which not even Ruffnut had ever done. But to have him still yelling at him was the last straw. She had met him once, and he was Ruffnut's friend, so she had TRIED to hear him out. But no one had actually gone this much out of her way to piss her off, especially when she had no idea what he was even mad about.
"You're supposed to be my age, but you're acting like a two year old. What the hell happened to the guy that had fun with Ruffnut and was so cool? You're acting like a little bitch. But you know what? Keep your goddamn secrets. I have housework to do. Come talk to me when you grow a pair."
no subject
Her words stung, but it gave him more reason to be mad. It added fuel to the fire. He hated to admit it, but having Ruffnut and Mindy mad at him still made him feel sad, and being mad at them made him feel guilty, so he was glad for some extra anger to cover up those feelings.
"Good! Just leave me alone!"
As Hana turned to run away, the pieces of broken furniture Mindy had dragged out all began to wobble and shake.
Suddenly, one of the piles of debris fell over, scattering itself at her feet, the larger pieces just missing her. The air buzzed like there was a mass of unseen angry bees. Mindys lilac Holy Spirit eased into a visible plane, sighing and looking at her sadly before fading out.
The houses other worldly inhabitants were not happy.
no subject
She shrieked when that large piece almost hit her, and swore when looking upward.
"THIS IS NOT MY FAULT YOU JERKS!"
