Cascade [Open party time!]

Billy had just launched another portal in that maze of mazes, exhaustion setting in. Surely this time he would land on another moving platform of death?

Nope, just the exterior of the finished bathhouses. All polished, systems running, and just about ready to open! Given how sore and exhausted he was, that sounded like an excellent idea at the moment.

With a quick message to the rest of the crew, he set out the 'Open' sign for the first time and took advantage of his owner status---the prime waterfall spot could be his!

((ooc: The bathhouses are now open! Feel free to mingle around, relax, and have a party. Or cause trouble, but that might invite more trouble. Just start a subthread with your character's location and have fun. For reference there are individual showers in front, followed by hot tubs centrally located, saunas further back, and private baths along the side. The showers, tubs, and saunas have smaller sex-segregated units along with a central group unit that's larger.))

"Don't I know it," Alessa replied, but just to show she wasn't just a little girl, reverted to her true appearance. While she despised zombies, she preferred not having to hide her form in a monster's presence: it was far more natural.

"Since when does vermin need to relax? Are you not all usually single minded?"

Oh, great. A freak. Karis is feeling a bit sorry she left her weaponry outside. She sinks a bit lower in her seat. The heat and steam are mild sensations to her, but they bring back memories. It's good enough for her. "Nah. I'm not Mindless. I'm Forsaken. Free-willed undead. Don't tell me they don't have 'em where you're from."

"The undead are simply the undead where I am from. Single minded, pathetic creatures capable only of killing and eating. Not that I have a problem with either, but they are the lowest of the low where I come from, not even worthy of being minions. I am not familiar with the type you speak of. You sound as if you chose to be this way."

[identity profile] teethofneedles.livejournal.com 2011-01-12 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Karis throws her head back and laughs raspily. She leans forward again with a grin that's more viciousness and cruelty then it is mirth. "Choose to be this way? No. I didn't choose this. ut it's hwo I am now so I deal with it. I make the best of it. I fight to survive, because like Hell am I going back to face that wall of oblivion."

[identity profile] demon-alessa.livejournal.com 2011-01-12 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Well now she was interested: she could even tell that this creature seemed repulsed by her, which was both insulting and fascinating. She stared at her a moment, and in those few seconds she was back in her human guise, naked by otherwise non-demony.

"More concepts that I am unfamiliar a zombie possesses. If you did not chose this, how has this come to be?"

[identity profile] teethofneedles.livejournal.com 2011-01-12 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Long fucking story," Karis shoots back, "You really wanna hear it?"

Fucking demons. Always meddling.

"I wouldn't have said so if I was simply idling," Alessa replied.

Well, this one certainly had an attitude on it. Apparently the relaxing background did little to improve vermin demeanor.

"Fine..." Karis settles in her seat, a claw scratching at her chin as she thinks. Where to begin? She rolls her shoulders and finally starts talking again after several long moments of silence.

"A long time ago, there was a Kingdom called Lordaeron. It had a great, wise king named Terenas. And Terenas had a son named Arthas, who was probably going to be a great paladin and a great king when he inherited the throne. Unfortunately, shit went horribly wrong. There was a weird plague outbreak. A plague that brought its victims back into undeath. And Arthas became obsessed with stopping it. So obsesses that he followed the instigators far to the north, to Northrend. Nobody really knows what happened up there. But he came back... changed."

She trailed off into silence again, the little yellow lights that served her as eyes dimming slightly as she thought.

"...and he came back and he killed his father. He killed everyone and turned them into undead. Turned them into mindless slaves so he could ravage the world. He became the Lich King," Karis continues, "But his concentration weakened at a crucial moment... and that's where we came from. We broke free - or were broken free. We threw off his shackles, led by the Banshee Queen, Sylvanas. We named ourselves the Forsaken and established a kingdom for ourselves in the ruins of Lordaeron and now we're gonna kill everyone who gets in our way. And that's the end of that."

[identity profile] demon-alessa.livejournal.com 2011-01-12 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
So. Still with a single mindedness, but there was a need to survive, to act independently of this so-called Lich King. That much made sense: the need to live, to survive had never been simply a human notion. All creatures did this in one way or another. For this vermin, it was refusing to be a mindless horde.

"And why would anyone 'get in your way' in the first place? Why even chose Lordaeron as your domain with the memories of the past still there? Woould you not want to move from that, create your own lair apart from the place you lost your wills?"

[identity profile] teethofneedles.livejournal.com 2011-01-12 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Where else would we go? Why would we want to leave our homes? You don't leave your house because of a little death," Karis snorts. "And people hate us because we're zombies. Because we're different. And there's the part where we want to ensure any and all threats to us are quashed, permanently."

[identity profile] demon-alessa.livejournal.com 2011-01-12 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well there had been a reason for that of course: she had been waiting to hear the answer, a reason, and now that she knew, of course it all made sense now.

"It's funny," she said. "You and I disgust each other, yet we are also the disgust of everyone else who lay eye on us. I can alter my appearance, I have the power to, but when I am not, I am a demon, just as you are a zombie. The bane of the ship."

She shrugged. "One gets used to it, after awhile."

[identity profile] teethofneedles.livejournal.com 2011-01-12 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
"I wasn't born undead. You were born a demon. Difference." Karis shrugs again.

"Yeah. You get... used... to the stares and the people wanting to cut your head off."

[identity profile] demon-alessa.livejournal.com 2011-01-12 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
"The difference is irrelevant. You are still an object of fear to these people, especially after a zombie attack happened on this very ship. You will not be liked, that is certain."

She stared at the zombie. "If they desire my head off, they will have much more than a zombie to deal with. I have not been creating my minion horde for nothing."
