The Outsiders: Meeting 2

It was going to be their second meeting, and she already had an idea from Beastboy that he'd drummed up some interest in some the newly pod popped. So she'd been making alterations to the Outsider headquarters all day, from checking out the intercom and monitors Billy fixed (she needed Alex's help for that) to helping to set the new carpet in the lobby to preparing the pool for the training session. It was absolutely important that today grow well: she was going to tell the group she was trying to petition Leon to get them more involved in missions. Even if he said no, there were chances that they as individuals would be pulled into some dangerous situation and then all that training WOULD come in handy, wouldn't it? Either way the training would be coming in handy, as would meeting the people that would come to the second meeting. In a way, the second meeting was more important than the first: the second told you who was staying, who hadn't just popped in for the snacks and a few laughs. She still had those of course: chips and dip and a few sandwiches were already set up for people who were hungry.

As for her, all of this work had already made her really sweaty and stinky, so she was taking a dip in the pool to clean herself off, careful to only do so in the shallow part of the water reserved for small kids: once she was good and clean, she would flush that water out, and fill it with clean water again. For now, she wanted to make sure everything went perfectly. Of course, she was also nude for this, so she figured if Beastboy dropped in now, she'd have to dry off pretty quickly.

So far though: room were all clean, conference room was a-okay and the lobby was spotless. For the moment she could relax. She'd be ready in a few minutes.

Advanced Training! Hyaaa ha ha ha ha!

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-14 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
With a crash and a cry, the army of the Overlord (12 minions) burst in, surrounding the favored minion of said Overlord as she held the Sacred Tome up high.

"All right! You wanted the best, you got the best!" the book bellowed. "Overlord Zetta, the most badass freakin' Overlord in the cosmos, will now be adjourning to the sensoriums for the most freakin' advanced combat training you've ever had in your lives. The safeties will be off! The challenge will be immense! And I, Overlord Zetta, will be there to show you what a challenge really is! Hyaaaa ha ha ha ha ha!"

So pronouncing, the Overlord's small army turned and marched out, off to the sensoriums to set up camp. By the time any of the Outsiders got there to train, he'd be oh-so-ready for them...

Like there was a chance in hell she was going to miss this. Safeties off? Challenges immense? Right now that was sounding better than moaning and groaning about her situation, and right about now? She was definitely looking into breaking some stuff to relieve some tension.

She waited a good two minutes and then casually strolled out of the room, bee lining it to the Sensoriums. It was time to let go.

Still open! Continue to join, people!

At the moment of arrival, the sensorium held nothing but a flat grey plane, presided over by a smug-looking book.

"Well, you were in a hurry," he said to the girl as she stepped in.

"Everybody has have a comment huh," Hit girl said, but was still grinning. "Not that it matters to me right now. I've been stuck on this ship talking and being condescended to. If you ask me this is long overdo."

It was a talking book.

Eh, fuck it.

"Heh!" Zetta approved! "Guess you wanna get started, huh?" The book appraised the girl without even seeming to note her apparent age. "Well, till some other people man up and get in here, I'll run you through something. Gimme a hint of what you can do."

"I'm waiting," Hit girl said. "I already ran through a simulation for someone. Throw me something, your version of a basic bad guy or whatever. Come on: I wanna fight something unpredictable!"

That was hopefully not all magical. That was something she knew little to nothing about. She figured she'd have to depend on her team for that one.

"Basic" bad guy?

She did realize this was advanced training, right?

Zetta looked at her for a long moment -- then, from the ground burst an immense clawed, scaled hand, which seized the edge of the crevasse it had formed and began to pull. Crashing, smashing, rising through the ground came a dragon, some twenty feet in height and over twice that in length. As it pulled the last of its tail free, the dragon craned its head down to look at the girl. Twin trickles of smoke oozed out of its nostrils as its beady eyes fixed on her.

Hit Girl took a step back when she heard the ground crumbling, but once she saw the claw coming out she shook her head in disbelief. Of course.

Dragons again, but this time one that wanted to eat the meat off her bones. Well that was fine. She was going to have to start with bringing it down to her level, and that could only happen if she was able to disarm it. So she started running, hoping to catch its attention.

Now for a high vantage point.

Good lord, busy weekend :/

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-18 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no worries. She had the dragon's attention perfectly. That sudden burst of motion saved her from its descending claws, which rent the featureless ground where she had been standing just a moment before.

Luckily for her, Zetta had not been idle as his creation roared into motion. Around them the field began to differentiate into something of a cave, the sort of thing one traditionally expects to see a dragon in. The rising walls defined a truly massive cavern, in which the dragon could readily take flight without the slightest danger to itself, but variegated columns and formations offered cover and concealment to a certain extent.

And Hit girl has learned enough from her father: use EVERY advantage you had. Already she was scouting ahead of her as the Sensorium built itself to the Overlord's wishes. She was going to have to play this precise, and she was glad she had the glocks with her this time. She knew there would really be only one way to get the best of the dragon: to make sure it didn't have another shot at her.

So she loaded one of the guns and shot near enough to nick the dragon's ear a bit: that was to get his attention, but she wasn't going to let him see her. That would give her more trouble than she needed.

The dragon snapped its head around, and then obligingly dropped its lower jaw to belch out a massive torrent of flames in the direction that shot had come from. Let's hope the girl is behind cover...

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
She definitely is. It's a dragon, for fucks sake, and if that Overlord guy was true to his word, the safety's were off on this thing. She'd seen enough Star Trek episodes to know what would happen if she got hit by dragon fire.

But when the dragon did shoot the flames, she wasn't there. The plan was still to get higher, and the dragon was still not sharp enough to catch the blur that tore past, Hit girl still looking for a place to get a decent shot.

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-19 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
This dragon, though large and angry, was no fool. After it disgorged its flames, it paused, sniffing for the scent of roasted meat, listening for the hiss of sizzling flesh. When it didn't hear these things, it lifted its head, scanning the room slowly as it bent all its senses to detection.

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Hit girl understood it needed a target to blow fire at: she needed to get a better shot. She silent mapped her movement: a quick run to the right, fake, left run, and then get behind the nearby column. That'd give her a few second rest before taking her shot.

She made a run through for it.
badassfreakingoverlord: (Standard Zetta)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-19 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
The dragon lashed out, not with its claws, but with its tail. Had she planned for that? Accommodated it in her motions? If so, it would be trivial to dodge. If not...

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
She would have dodged the fire and definitely made her way out of the claws, but the tail was something she hadn't accounted for. It missed her only just: the impact knocked her hard to the ground, face first. She swore silently, but was up a moment later. Oh, if she only had her flame thrower...

But that was okay. Now it was looking where she fell, and she'd hidden herself pretty well. She was going to have to go for the shot NOW, otherwise she was risking another body hit. She loaded her guns, and was steadying herself.
badassfreakingoverlord: (mocking you)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-19 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
The dragon turned, and then took advantage of the space it had been offered in this cavernous cavern by spreading its wings, then flapping them hard to lift it off the ground as it kicked off.

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
He was flying? Oh GOOD. That was going to make things a little harder for her, because now she was going to have to make sure her aim was perfect. Still, the advantage of the dragon flying was that it's weakness was going to be at an angle she could reach.

She walked stealthily, making no noise, and readied the glock. She barely breathed, but as the dragon started to ascend, she had a moment to take aim and hit the spot she was going for: the dragon's eyes.
badassfreakingoverlord: (dramatic cape flare)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-19 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
The bullet ricocheted noisily off the dragon's cornea in a flare of sparks. It roared angrily, its flight wobbling as it whipped overhead, then around in an immense curve. An excellent stratagem; a wise choice of weak spots. But the dragon hadn't been blinded yet.

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Damn. Lousy dragons with their tough hides. Just as well though: bullets were small, and very hard to hit the mark of something with such a rough hide. No, it looked like she was going to have to go all out.

So she waited a minute, then, within range, she struck again, only this time with throwing stars. The guns and the butterfly knife weren't the only things that she'd ad on her for a weapon.
badassfreakingoverlord: (Default)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-20 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
The dragon spun in midair, swatting the weapons away with the membranes of its wings. Then it tucked in its tail, stretched its head, and swooped about in a long arc.

Clearly, it was coming back on a flame-strafing run.
badassfreakingoverlord: (ha ha!)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-20 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
The dragon took a sharp blow to its side from several of the pellets -- not necessarily because it had failed to react, but because its controlling intelligence hadn't.

So THAT was what that 'waterbending' thing on Katara's status screen meant. Zetta filed that away for future reference with a grin. This wasn't at all what he'd planned for this training, but hey, he should've known not many people would be brave enough to challenge the Overlord!

...wait, what did it say that the two who WERE were, like, adolescent girls?

Oh well, he didn't understand grown ones, why should young ones make any more sense?

The dragon spun into a wingover, its tail cracking past the sound barrier as it righted itself, then opened its jaw to rain torrential flaming death on Katara.

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh GOOD. She had needed cover, and she got it from this chick that could apparently use water. These powers really threw her for a loop sometimes: she HAD to meet Batman when she got the chance.

But there had been one more trick up Hit girl's sleeve and it came in the form of that long blade on a stick she'd used at Raoul's. She rarely got to use it since more situations called for a gun, and that was a shame: she was especially trained in this.

What was more, she was an excellent shot if she had the chance. She remembered Kick ass commenting on how her butterfly knife had hit that one stoner idiot so on point. And this was way more important.

So this time, she didn't go for grazing the body, but back to the eyes again, hoping to blind it.
badassfreakingoverlord: (crap I'm a book)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-20 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Zetta found himself honestly conflicted, trying to decide what was appropriate -- but hey, maybe he'd been a bit TOO unfair when he put the kid up against the massive dragon.

The dragon howled as the blade pierced its eye, its breath choking off before it could engulf and annihilate the waterbender. It jinked left sharply, then wingovered into a swift arc that nearly grazed the far end of the cavern.
