The Outsiders: Meeting 2

It was going to be their second meeting, and she already had an idea from Beastboy that he'd drummed up some interest in some the newly pod popped. So she'd been making alterations to the Outsider headquarters all day, from checking out the intercom and monitors Billy fixed (she needed Alex's help for that) to helping to set the new carpet in the lobby to preparing the pool for the training session. It was absolutely important that today grow well: she was going to tell the group she was trying to petition Leon to get them more involved in missions. Even if he said no, there were chances that they as individuals would be pulled into some dangerous situation and then all that training WOULD come in handy, wouldn't it? Either way the training would be coming in handy, as would meeting the people that would come to the second meeting. In a way, the second meeting was more important than the first: the second told you who was staying, who hadn't just popped in for the snacks and a few laughs. She still had those of course: chips and dip and a few sandwiches were already set up for people who were hungry.

As for her, all of this work had already made her really sweaty and stinky, so she was taking a dip in the pool to clean herself off, careful to only do so in the shallow part of the water reserved for small kids: once she was good and clean, she would flush that water out, and fill it with clean water again. For now, she wanted to make sure everything went perfectly. Of course, she was also nude for this, so she figured if Beastboy dropped in now, she'd have to dry off pretty quickly.

So far though: room were all clean, conference room was a-okay and the lobby was spotless. For the moment she could relax. She'd be ready in a few minutes.

Hit girl had NOT stopped evaluating the situation, not even when the water girl got involved. She wasn't sure how it happened, but it seemed that she'd been able to provide enough force to actually knock the creature off balance. Oh, the water girl would be smarting for that in the morning (she wasn't Superman), but that was ok since she gave her EXACTLY what she needed. The dragon was still a bulky, awkward creature, and the temporary knock down due to its own weight was an opportunity she needed to cease while it was still stunned.

And Hit girl knew about the importance of taking any situation you could get.

She ran toward the spear knife with every ounce of energy she had, and jumped as high as she could, landing just a little below its arms, near the neck. With a yell, she brought the blade down in a slashing movement, using all her strength to tear, and it would take all her strength too. The dragon hide would still be rough to cut through.

The scales on the neck were just that much smaller and thinner than most places, to allow the dragon a greater ranger of uninhibited motion. That made all the difference. The blade scored through the armor and into the flesh beneath, which almost instantly erupted into a spurt of blood.

The blow, though telling, had not been mortal -- at least not immediately. The dragon shook its head to clear it, rolling its massive bulk to its feet. As of yet, it hadn't even processed the girl, nor the fact that the sudden pain in its neck stemmed from something other than the fall.

Hit Girl hit the ground hard, scratching her face a bit and definitely jarring her bones, but otherwise okay. She got up, and now the guns were in her hands again. The old way was fine enough, but now was the time for the weapon that had become a necessity in her world.

And the shots went right at the neck, to deepen the wound. Hopefully this would seal the deal.

Zetta was reluctantly forced to admit he'd underestimated the girl's aim. Not the girl herself -- he'd hit her with a dragon after all -- but that was some pretty damn impressive accuracy.

That being said, he put the damn dragon out of its unreal misery as it began to thrash. "Not bad," he said. "You guys hurt?"

Out of nowhere, one of Zetta's minions crashed out of the sky to the ground. The minion, a blond-haired woman in a tunic, lifted a staff in Katara's direction, invoking a mild spell of healing on the waterbender.

Hit girl watched, and grinned when she saw the person fall out of the sky. Superhealing, huh? Pretty trippy.

"I'm good," she said, ignoring the blood running down her face. "Don't need anything to detract. It's been a little while...the pain makes me feel pretty damn good."

"You're pretty brutal," the book said appreciatively. "I'd say you're more hardcore than most girls your age."

This sort of thing didn't bother Zetta in the slightest. Demons started (proportionally) young too, after all. The brightest lights and best talents of the Netherworld often showed themselves at a very young age.

"So, guns and pointy objects, huh? Got anything else in your bag of tricks?"

Then to Katara, he added, "Ice power, huh? That and healing?"

Hit Girl snickered. "Just a human, but I'm a fighter until the end. This is the only way you can be a hero in the world I come from: we beat our enemies completely so they don't come back together again. At any point, we could die. We don't stop fighting until we're dead."

She looked over at the water girl. "What do you mean heal?"
badassfreakingoverlord: (crap I'm a book)

"Damn. Your WORLD is brutal," Zetta said, a little alarmed. Then he parsed something else she'd said, and relaxed. "Oh, heroics."
badassfreakingoverlord: (dramatic cape flare)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-21 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
"She said heroic, I'm sticking to it!" Zetta said, stubbornly. "You don't have to destroy your opponents to survive. Hell, just the opposite. You stay so badass they can't touch you... and you leave them alive to tell the tale. But heroics? Leave the evil alive and it'll come back again, and again..."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-21 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Not stupid," Ht Girl said bluntly. "The guys in my world are dangerous enough as it is without giving them room to rebuild. So you take care of a job thoroughly, right? Doubt you want another crazed dragon burning your ass, right?"

She shrugged "The heroes that don't kill their enemies become close to being dead. Logic."
badassfreakingoverlord: (crap I'm a book)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-21 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh, this IS the Sensorium," Zetta pointed out. "I could have another dragon out in no time."
badassfreakingoverlord: (ha ha!)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-21 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Heh. Maybe you worry a bit too much," Zetta said. "You forget I'm on your side. Still... good guts, both of you. I guess it says something that the adolescent girls on this ship are pretty much the most badass people, bar me."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-21 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Hit girl stretched, checking her wounds, then nodding her head. Not bad after being rejected by that cold bitch. "It wasn't bad for a first fight. I would have been pretty screwed without help though."

She turned to the water girl. "Thanks...Katara, right? And you, Overlord Zetta guy. Thanks for the fight. I feel a lot better now."
badassfreakingoverlord: (all right)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2010-10-21 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"It wasn't at all what I had planned for a group activity, but hey, it worked," the Overlord said with overtly false modesty. "You've got a lot of promise as a sniper... you ever considered a weapons upgrade?"
