The Outsiders: Meeting 2

It was going to be their second meeting, and she already had an idea from Beastboy that he'd drummed up some interest in some the newly pod popped. So she'd been making alterations to the Outsider headquarters all day, from checking out the intercom and monitors Billy fixed (she needed Alex's help for that) to helping to set the new carpet in the lobby to preparing the pool for the training session. It was absolutely important that today grow well: she was going to tell the group she was trying to petition Leon to get them more involved in missions. Even if he said no, there were chances that they as individuals would be pulled into some dangerous situation and then all that training WOULD come in handy, wouldn't it? Either way the training would be coming in handy, as would meeting the people that would come to the second meeting. In a way, the second meeting was more important than the first: the second told you who was staying, who hadn't just popped in for the snacks and a few laughs. She still had those of course: chips and dip and a few sandwiches were already set up for people who were hungry.

As for her, all of this work had already made her really sweaty and stinky, so she was taking a dip in the pool to clean herself off, careful to only do so in the shallow part of the water reserved for small kids: once she was good and clean, she would flush that water out, and fill it with clean water again. For now, she wanted to make sure everything went perfectly. Of course, she was also nude for this, so she figured if Beastboy dropped in now, she'd have to dry off pretty quickly.

So far though: room were all clean, conference room was a-okay and the lobby was spotless. For the moment she could relax. She'd be ready in a few minutes.

Katara lingered in this small bit of luxury for a bit too long: there were obviously GOING to be people arriving, particularly the ones she told to be here.

Well. All awkward meting aside, now is time for the important part: all of the Outsiders seeing its new potential members, getting an idea of what sort of powers (or non powers) they're working with. There are foodstuffs all set on the table, and an atmosphere of mingling between members.

Won't you introduce yourself?

Ok, everyone's settled in, we have an idea who we are? Good. Now comes the time where we gather in the conference room. The chairs are plush, and there are even a few couches available for those who are less concerned with personal space. The outside of the hotel is clearly viewable by the glass doors set at the end of the room, where you can see the pool set up for something.

At the head of this room are the leaders of the Outsiders, Katara and Beastboy, and they're talking to each other a moment before clearing their throats to address all of the people here.

Beastboy had apparently had more or less the same idea as Katara, a quick refreshing swim before the meeting.

He did not however plan on doing it in the same manner as her. In fact as he burst into the swimming area and ran (Ignoring the do not run signs) To the water he didn't even notice her at first diving through the air with a loud "COWABUNGA!" And splashing into the water turning into a large Octopus upon landing.

As the water settled he spent a few moments stretching his tantacles until his big black eyes settled on the only other person in the pool.

After a long...very very long moment in which you could swear the green skin was turning red with blush a tentacle waved in greeting.

Yes, she guessed she should have expected Beastboy MIGHT pop in early she just hadn't expected him a)so soon or b)to the swimming area. So once she heard the "COWABUNGA" she shrieked, going for a towel immediately. By the time he looked, Katara had the towel up to her chest, turning pretty red.

Yes, she could have yelled at him, but she was the one naked, not him, and he had no idea this was how she bathed back home to begin with. She laughed awkwardly, shaking her head.

"I should have figured you might be early," she said, shaking her head. "I've been here all day, so I figured I should have a clean dip. I'll put up a sign next time!"

Vita was a bit...miffed. It looked like she was going to be one of the smallest people in the place, and she wasn't even going to be a full time member (although she was going to help them out with the training if they could use that, children or not didn't really matter much to her. She herself had already trained ten year olds, after all)! This was aggravating. She sure hoped nobody was going to pet her.

And so, the small "girl" in the red dress (+ that silly cap with the bunnies, for added effect) and the criquet-hammer waited and watched what was going on.

...No, she was supposed to introduce herself. "Err, hi. I'm Vita. I'm from the magical department, but I'm helping out here, too, as long as I'm needed." She stated, and tried a smile. Awkward.

Why did everyone have to be taller than her?

Beastboy shifted back cheeks bright red, "H-heh yeah I hear ya...I uh...so..." He laughed nervously, "Well if it helps I'm naked most the time whenerver I turn into an animal if you think about it?"

Alex might have been around six feet- a gene he got from both his parents- but it was rare that he really seemed it. He was currently sitting in the corner, smiling a bit as he played with his rat, Alice, flipping her over and tickling her stomach, occasionally letting her pin his hand and start to groom it.

Just because he had dragged himself to the meeting because he knew that he would see Katara and possibly someone he knew he really wanted to see but couldn't figure out quite who it was here didn't mean he was particularly comfortable with the crowd. The fact that he was smiling as he kept to himself showed a marked improvement in his ability to handle large social situations though.

His smile and his blond hair was about all that could be see under his hood as he crouched near the wall. His hand was also noticeably covered in scars, but judging by the size of them, they were from play-fighting with a rat.

Maydril wasn't that much taller than Vita, all things considered. The armor she'd worn was probably an interesting touch, and certainly the sword (nearly as big as she) was.

She looked unusually solemn, but she let a smile cross her face, and she made a curtsey to the girl in the dress.

"I am Maydril val Mandrian. It is a pleasure to meet you. I also like your outfit." Which was true. May was fond of red.

"Er, thanks. Hayate designed it for me." Vita answered, happy that someone liked Hayate's clothing design. So pleased that she didn't think the girl was mocking her with the curtsey, in fact.

"You have nice armor, too."

A fellow melee fighter, huh.

That was a tall person, about as tall as Signum. Sheesh. Playing with a rat, too. She hoped the rat wasn't like the ferret, Yuuno, and thus actually a person.

"You a part of the Outsiders?" She asked, trying to mingle some. She ignored the height difference for now!

Ben had arrived, looking more awake than he had been previously since his workout in the Sensoriums. Dressed in his jacket, he milled about, making a meandering beeline for the food. Ben was always hungry anyhow and he was determined to get a bite at least before someone intercepted him.

"That's not even close to the same!" Katara said hotly, smiling in spite of herself. It was one of Beastboy's talents: making you laugh even when you were trying to be angry with him. She wrapped another towel around her head, deliberately making sure the other towel was wrapped tight.

"But at least you're on time. I wanted to talk to you a bit about what we;re going to say, and how we're going to run the training tonight."

Katara was glad to see that both Maydril AND Vita the girl that Beastboy had mentioned, had arrived. She walked up to them immediately, not at all bothered by Vita's size (a certain earthbender would have punished her if she had).

"I'm glad to see you both!" Katara greeted. "I want to get an idea of who's doing what when the training starts. Vita, Beastboy had some monster thing planned, but I know he could use your help to add a little variation to the Intermediate exercise. I was also hoping to Overlord Zetta's expert course is last, in case anyone from intermediate wants to do that one too: I know I will."

She turned to Maydril. "Do you think you'll want in on any of the training exercises?"

Katara had made sure to pop over to Alex and give him a hug. She knew he was still having a little trouble with people, and thought it brave of him to come back. She didn't say it, but she wanted to really help him however she could.

"Glad to see you Alex!" she greeted. "Do you think you'll be doing any of the training today?"

"S-sure!" He stammered working very hard on keeping his eyes on hers when instinct and desire was begging him to try and sneak one more peek. Katara was of coarse a very attractive girl and way cool in Beastboy's book, "What did you have in mind?"

Katara narrowed her eyes and whapped Beastboy lightly on the head.

"Eyes front, Beastboy," she said indignantly, but softened at the next question. "We have to let them know how important it is to be in a part of the team. We're having new members joining, and I want them to understand that EVERYONE is accepted, as long as they act as a family and help each other. The tricky part will be training. I asked Vita to help you there: she's bound to have a different experience in fighting, and that way you'll get to learn a bit about each other as well as helping the others work together. Its likely you'll need the Sensoriums for that. I'll be here with any of the guys that want to take the beginner's course: that way they have an idea of the basics in a fight: stances, shifting weight in battle, that sort of thing. The last training will be with Overlord Zetta: it'll likely be the hardest and I'm hoping people from intermediate will try this session."

She paused. "You being yourself has really helped me with the Outsiders Beastboy, I just want you to know that without you this would be much harder. I definitely am grateful for all you've done. Thanks for stepping up."

"H-hey hey easy." He laughed at being whapped, "It's hard to take my eyes off the pretty girl!"

Moving right on from the inadvertent flirting, "And some of them just won't really wanna you know? Fight. I mean it's not everyone's strength but we can like come up with teamwork excersizes that don't involve combat too!"

He blushed a little at her compliment "A-ah well heh, I'm just glad I could help. I mean I'm not really, it's no big deal." He stammered and stumbled.

Katara flushed a little at that, but still looked stubborn. "You can manage, trust me. Now turn so I can go and dry off."

She continues on. "No, I know that. By the end of the meeting we'll find out who's interested in what and go from there. I'll admit that tech's not my thing, and probably not yours either, so maybe Alex will want to help with that. This second meeting is basically to plan what we do with the rest of the meeting from here on out: our fun time and our work. Either way, we're all helping each other!"

She grinned, putting on her underclothes and lightly patting his shoulder. "It's good to have someone to help me with this. How's Starfire, by the way?"

Beastboy turned with one last embarrassed laugh "You got it, and next time I'll knock." There was a pause, "You know there are regular bath tubs though right?"

Once she gave him a pat he turned back around making to climb out of the pool, "This should work out great, our team's gonna be so cool and fun the adults will all be jealous. We'll show them what we're really made of!"

Unfortunately for Beastboy as he climbed out of the pool his trunks had slid off and he hadn't noticed...well what goes around comes around it seemed.

The tall person jumped and fell backwards. He, as usual, hadn't been paying attention, and the sudden voice directed at him made his heart skip a beat. He looked up at the girl and sighed. He needed to stop expecting danger from every person.

Alice flipped herself over and looked at Alex concerned before climbing up to his shoulder. Alex pet her head and nodded, still shrinking a bit from the girl, "Y-yeah, I a-am. A-are y-you one of th-the new c-comers?"

Hikari blinked, looking around as she and Tailmon entered. She had heard about this, but hadn't joined in the last time. She was too busy practicing with her powers on her own, but she really needed to at least come out and talk to some other people.

Tailmon shook her head. "So, you think we're going to fit in here?"

Hikari nodded. "Shouldn't be all that bad, really..."

She nodded, and at the last minute ducked her head a little. "Yeah, I know. I guess its one of those things I used to do on my world that I haven't let go of yet. I know it sounds weird, but I feel freer that way, like I'm back home again."

She smiled. "I agree! Between the two of us and all of them, I'm sure we'll be able to be better prepared for the things to come. It's just going to take getting to know each other, understanding our differences and working toge-"

And theeeeen she looks straight in his direction just as his trunks fell off. and there is an almost paused ten second stare before Katara turns, feeling as if she could be a firebender with all the heat her body generated.

Katara grinned when she saw Ben beeline to the food. It was funny in a dorky way, and she was fairly fond of Ben, especially knowing Nura was like his mother.

"Good to see you Ben!" She said. "What have you been up to?"

Alex, as usual, jumped at the touch, but it wasn't quite as bad as it had been in the past. It had taken about three hours for him to work up the nerve to join them. "I-I don' k-know... I k-know Zuko seems p-pretty against other p-people's ways of teachin'. S-said he was h-happy he d-didn' haveta un-teach anythin'."
