Panacea (Operation Shoot 'Em in the Chest and Lower Extremities) [OPEN]

Bleary-eyed toil brought results, and there was a cure for ROM-199A. Now the problem came with administering it.

Down in the city, the makeshift strike team wielded modified tranquilizer rifles and each of them had 12 cure rounds to use. The infected needed to be struck solidly in order for the cure to be injected-- they were instructed to aim for the chest, though a shot in the arm or leg that hit and stuck would work as well.

It's like paintball, except with deadly pathogens!

Meanwhile, up in Quarantine, those who didn't feel comfortable with shooting their crewmates in the face chest and lower extremities were charged with curing those who had already been subdued and contained.

That was more like tag than paintball, except with deadly pathogens, of course.

(ooc: If you signed up here or here, fire away. If you want to participate but didn't sign up, fire away. If you're infected, tag in to your victim of choice and tear those jerks apart before they shoot you in the face chest and lower extremities! THROW-DOWN! Remember, give the newbs and less plot-fortunate first shot. HAVE FUN.)

That tranquilizing gun did not look good, and only served to make Kang more angry than he was; he wasn't so far gone that he didn't recognize a weapon when he saw one.

Narrowing his eyes at Nehaalista, his growl became louder, and a strange feeling began to build up in his stomach. At the same time, the air began to smell like ozone, and static electricity sparked around his mouth.

Well, isn't that going to be wonderful? Nehaalista thought as she reached to the Light and raised her aura, quickly casting seals and blessings to protect her from the worst of what Kang was about to unleash on her. She didn't want to hurt him, of course. But if brute force became necessary, she wasn't about to let him roflstomp all over her, either.

I don't want to hurt you, she wanted to assure him. I want to help you get better. It was a shame she possessed no way to think that out at him, it would have made this smoother, she supposed. Instead of drawing it out, Nehaalista opened Kang's containment bubble and immediately cast.

Hammer of Justice.

The instant the containment bubble was opened, Kang opened his mouth, and a blast of lightning went straight for Nehaalista. It wasn't quick enough to stop her from casting, though, and he was immediately stunned, slowly shaking his head back and forth in confusion as to what the hell had just happened.

Now was her chance to shoot him with the gun.

Nehaalista swayed on her feet as the lightning was absorbed by the bubble of shifting, golden light that had sprung up around her on instinct. It was a bad habit she had never quite rid herself of. With Kang subdued for those very few precious seconds, Nehaalista raised the gun and fired. Two went wide, and hit the fleshy wall of the containment cell. The other two both hit Kang in the chest, though.

What did they expect? She was not a hunter for the love of the Light. She stumbled out of the containment bubble and sat down hard, watching the thin, tough membrane seal closed around Kang's cell again.

Wow, Nehaalista thought, and squeezed her eyes closed. Let's not do that again.

Kang's scales protected him from more things than human skin did, but they didn't do much of anything against darts fired from a gun. Within ten seconds, he was down, unconscious on the floor of the containment cell.

He was definitely going to have a headache when he woke up, and an apology to make.

After a few minutes, Nehaalista stood up and rested a hand against the bubble. If they had been honest, her friend would be up and back to normal in no time at all.

Still, she hoped he wouldn't be too upset with her for shooting him.
