Mission 01: Recovery [Briefing]
The Meeting is interrupted.
There is a resounding mental alarum that sounds through the ship. Nearly "deafening." Lights flash from places for extra emphasis, making it impossible to ignore.
||Attention, Attention. All personnel please report to the Observation Deck. Attention, Attention. All personnel please report to the Observation Deck. Attention, Attention, all personnel...||
They can hear it through the meeting bubble and Jaime drops it.
It's entirely likely that she won't stop repeating the announcement until, well, everyone reports to Obs Deck. The mouth in the huge statue opens, revealing a screen. On it, the dossier for the mission flickers into display, understandable to every person there. Smaller copies of the dossier appear in holographic form in front of everyone.
The planet's stats, right next to a rotating picture of it, marled blue and green, are as follows:
Planet Designation: Earth-534A342Z
Status: Terrestrial, H-class.
Non-sentient life: Extensive flora and fauna.
Semi-Sentient Life: Yes.
Sentient Life: No.
Water: 82% of the planet's surface.
Climate: Similar to Earth's Mediterranean climates/desert climates in some areas. [Click here for cultural equivalents for non-Earth cultures.]
Landscape: Varied. Lightning storms plague the plains and mountain plateaus. Tectonic upheaveal.
Air: Normoxic concentration: 28% oxygen, 62% nitrogen, 5% xenon, 5% trace gases, such as hydrogen, krypton, and argon.
Air Pressure: 14.543 pounds per square inch.
Sky: Blue with orangeish-gold clouds (clouds ride rather low in the sky due to gravity being stronger and therefore reflect the colors on the surfaces of the plateaus.
Sun: A class M5V, a red dwarf star.
Warnings: Wildlife and plant-life can be hazardous.
Mission: Track escape pod vessels with the scanners provided. Manually activate recovery processes. Return to Main Planet Pod.
--
Following that, there is a table displaying the escape pods--they looked like little bugs or maybe giant beans. Something between plant and insect.
||Attention, podmates. Attention.||
Apparently Stacy wants their attention.
||It is critical that you pay attention at this time.||

Re: Detachment Procedures
Re: Detachment Procedures
And then there was space and it was amazing and then the gravity cut out and...
"Wow."
Re: Detachment Procedures
He's not entirely sure which disturbs (okay, scares) him more, the lack of secure ground under his feet or the size of Stacy.
Probably both.
Re: Detachment Procedures
Though the sight of the actual ship and the lack of gravity was really doing a number on her stomach.

Billy's musing is interrupted by the reasonable thought that he should anchor himself. Carefully propelling himself to a nearby wall, he secures his glasses and morpher and hangs on for dear life. For all the excitement of the mission, there were few things he hated more about Rangering than a rough landing.
no subject
"I do not like space travel." He decided, firmly.

The Chief shifts in his spot clinging to what was the "floor" of Obs Deck, checks his angle and trajectory, plans his jump, and then kicks off, heading for Chaucer at a relatively easy speed. He doesn't want to hit the other man hard enough to hurt him, especially in his suit like this.
He catches Geoff around the torso, shifting slightly as the collision turns his straight shot into a slow roll. He bends one knee to try to modify the speed of the spin so he'll take the impact rather than Chaucer, because being slammed into a wall by a thousand pounds of Spartan isn't pleasant at any velocity. They're drifting toward a lower spot on one of the Obs Deck "walls". If all goes according to plan, they'll hit sideways and be able to get ahold of something before bouncing off.

"An' they told me I'd never be an astronaut!"

She has to think about that for a minute.
"...No."

He wasn't entirely sure if he succeeded, but that was okay, because at that point he was focusing very hard on what Chief told him to do. Grab the wall when you hit the wall.
He was a good foot soldier, simple orders like that, he could do.
So he did, and clung for dear life. "Dear Lord in heaven, what have I done to deserve this?"

"This is nuts," she says, trying to get herself to stop spinning. "I still don't get how some of you people can jump right into this without hardly batting an eyelash. Even trying to keep it cool while leading, I've had 'this is nuts, this is nuts, this is nuts' on repeat in my head, like a broken record."

Doc planted his feet to the ceiling in true ninja fashion and once secured reached a hand down to touch Cybil's shoulders and keep her from pulling another somersault.

But then her eyes narrowed, and she began to concentrate and actually smiled when she stopped moving toward the celing and just hovered in one place. "Well, this is much better!" She said with a smile and began to look at the other members of the crew. "Though, it would have been nice if Stacy had given a little warning first."

... Dean doesn't like flying of any kind.
no subject
"...Also, sorry about the things I said back in the medbay."
He still can't believe some of the things he said. Especially to Dean. The way he'd spoken to him had been... inexcusable.
no subject
< holy crap that thing is big. > he says, looking back at the ship. < I wonder what Ax will think of it. > He can't believe teh ship's size either.
no subject
"Enjoy the ride. Yeah, right," Dean grits out, trying to hold himself as still as possible. And then Tim apologizes.
Dean stares for a minute, and then looks away. Tim's probably going to have to work at it if he wants Dean to trust him, (assuming he wants to associate with Dean at all), but the apology does help.
"... S'fine." Dean would say more, but. Y'know. Anti-gravity.
no subject
"Neeeeeeeeeeeerooooooooooown!"
What? Just because the rest of the planet-crew are too "dignified" to make airplane noises...

She moves her mouth quickly, and then speaks, making it look as if she's speaking another language and the English (or everyone's translated languages) are getting dubbed over.
"You'll pay for what you've done, warlord!" She play-acts. "The villages in the countryside will be freed from your iron grasp! Papow!"
Fake slow motion punches!
no subject
"Ha! You are but a girl! I will pay for nothing!" he declared, bookending his words with random mouth movements.
Slow-mo fake-punch! Also, something that would have been a high kick if Paco were more flexible. It mostly just changed the direction of his floating.
no subject
A slow-motion high kick that was actually a high kick, and as she twirls, she adds, "Seriously, I have. I didn't make that shit up."
She goes back to play-acting.
"WHAAACHAAAAA!"
