Mission 01: Recovery [Briefing]
The Meeting is interrupted.
There is a resounding mental alarum that sounds through the ship. Nearly "deafening." Lights flash from places for extra emphasis, making it impossible to ignore.
||Attention, Attention. All personnel please report to the Observation Deck. Attention, Attention. All personnel please report to the Observation Deck. Attention, Attention, all personnel...||
They can hear it through the meeting bubble and Jaime drops it.
It's entirely likely that she won't stop repeating the announcement until, well, everyone reports to Obs Deck. The mouth in the huge statue opens, revealing a screen. On it, the dossier for the mission flickers into display, understandable to every person there. Smaller copies of the dossier appear in holographic form in front of everyone.
The planet's stats, right next to a rotating picture of it, marled blue and green, are as follows:
Planet Designation: Earth-534A342Z
Status: Terrestrial, H-class.
Non-sentient life: Extensive flora and fauna.
Semi-Sentient Life: Yes.
Sentient Life: No.
Water: 82% of the planet's surface.
Climate: Similar to Earth's Mediterranean climates/desert climates in some areas. [Click here for cultural equivalents for non-Earth cultures.]
Landscape: Varied. Lightning storms plague the plains and mountain plateaus. Tectonic upheaveal.
Air: Normoxic concentration: 28% oxygen, 62% nitrogen, 5% xenon, 5% trace gases, such as hydrogen, krypton, and argon.
Air Pressure: 14.543 pounds per square inch.
Sky: Blue with orangeish-gold clouds (clouds ride rather low in the sky due to gravity being stronger and therefore reflect the colors on the surfaces of the plateaus.
Sun: A class M5V, a red dwarf star.
Warnings: Wildlife and plant-life can be hazardous.
Mission: Track escape pod vessels with the scanners provided. Manually activate recovery processes. Return to Main Planet Pod.
--
Following that, there is a table displaying the escape pods--they looked like little bugs or maybe giant beans. Something between plant and insect.
||Attention, podmates. Attention.||
Apparently Stacy wants their attention.
||It is critical that you pay attention at this time.||

He pushes off from the group and determinately starts to head back to his original position. Glancing back over his shoulder, he adds, "And I'm sure certain other people could try being less childish as well."

"Miss Bennett, have you ever played in zero gravity before?"

"Very well. But don't worry too much about it. It's just like swimming."

He adds, "The children would be able to indulge themselves on the return journey."

He made a mental note to get Robo!Brainy to lighten up some too before he turned toward Spock and the new Grand High Poobah (er, Captain). "Hey, bullet-time and plane noises have no effect on my ability to plan the hell out of things," He folded his hands behind his head. "And this may be old hat for you, but it's my first time in zero-G. Return journey, I'm probably going to want a nap."

kidsones flying around. "You slam into something going too quick and you'll dislocate a shoulder."Personal experience!
To Chaucer, more quietly, he says, "Just hold on. If you need something to think about, think about this: you're the only person from your time period who's ever felt this. Also, Stacy has a mission for us. It won't do her any good to get us killed or injured up here. You're going to be fine."
His first experiences with null g were not much fun. Spartans hate feeling helpless, and flailing around in space without anything to push off to adjust your course feels very helpless. And he had been expecting it.

"Actually, I'm going to agree with Mister Spock." She gestures towards Spock. She asks, bluntly, "Could you guys knock it off? This is serious. There's a time and a place."

"This is a long ways away from the RPD..." he quietly mused to himself as he shook his head. It was the only real sign that things were in any way overwhelming. He managed to shove that aside quickly, though.
"You kids still might want to settle down. We don't have long until we hit the atmosphere, then things'll get a little bumpy."

"I know, I know. I'm okay, just..."
Coping after the violent death and seemingly quick return of her boyfriend, the near end of the world, being kidnapped by a spaceship that can mess with timelines, being powerless, being sent on some dangerous mission while Kon is hurt... it all adds up.
"Way too much going on. But I'm okay. I just want to get this over with."
Did she mention she's okay?
