Reign of Destruction
By this point, the Ohm had spread all across the planet.
Destruction spread throughout the cities of Zokez II. There were evacuees that still needed to escape. People that needed saving.
It was time for the crew to do what they did best.

Right after the message was relayed, the beam canons fired a string of shots behind Vega. Some firebugs were hit, hopefully giving him a little more time to retreat.

Vega pushes the Fury's head downward to duck a swipe from one massive tank leg. Fortunately, with a flare of boosters, he's clear.
Except he's not.
FZASH!
Bioplasma splashes across the Zoid's side, too quickly for Vega to twist out of the way. One of the Firebugs managed to sneak into position to get a bead on him. And he gave it a nice straight run to lead off the shot on, too.
The Fury's controls stiffen in his hands as it roars, the hit knocking their course and changing the flow of air over the Fury's body as it melts armor. The Zoid is livid, it wants to wheel around and face the things attacking it, to break them in its claws and teeth and blast them to pieces. The Berserk Fury doesn't run away.
<< MOVE, FURY! >> They need to get out of here. Vega's trying to assess the damage and get a buffer of distance between his Zoid and the Ohm line at the same time, all while the Fury's controls are shuddering under his hands with its conflicting loyalty and rage.
The left booster on the Fury's back hisses and whines under the strain, plasma boiling away metal.
It fails. It flares up again. It dies with a shower of sparks and a small burst of oily black smoke.
There's a choked yell from Vega as the Zoid tumbles head over tail in midair, unbalanced. The Fury bellows, crashing into a building and then a second as it struggles to right itself. Vega's comm channel goes to static as the seat of his cockpit ejects in time for him to avoid one final smash.
The Fury lashes at the rubble of a third building as the first it slammed into collapses into the one Mei-Xing is standing on.
Vega's seat is drifting through the air, just a spot of color dangling from a parachute. It's what Sarah always told him to do if he thought he couldn't survive a crash.

There's a new voice over the communication lines as yellow blasts rain from the sky at hypersonic speeds, tearing through the Ohm lines before exploding with kinetic energy - the Strike Freedom's railguns.
Enter reinforcements from space.
