Reign of Destruction

By this point, the Ohm had spread all across the planet.

Destruction spread throughout the cities of Zokez II. There were evacuees that still needed to escape. People that needed saving.

It was time for the crew to do what they did best.

Makeshift Medical

The fight is still going on, but Katara knew better than to dawdle around looking for fights: as strong as she was, she was needed HERE, where she could look over people. Luckily for her, she wasn't alone: there were several people that had the same idea, so they'd settled near a spot where the evacuees were boarding the ships to leave. Some people were easier than others: bruises, scrapes, fainting and minor hysteria that Lauri had been able to calm down so they could board the ship.

But not everyone was that lucky. There were some people that had been hit by debris from the Ohm, there were those that had been struck by other panicked evacuees and been run over. Those people were cut up pretty badly, and she was glad that some of the experienced doctors had the things they needed to patch them up. Unfortunately, the injuries were starting to get worse and that wasn't all. Now the people who were actually fighting the Ohm were showing up, they did not get away with barely a scratch. Now she was starting to see familiar faces.

It was time for the medic staff to really get to work.

Nanashi was not too fond of the idea of using her blood to heal people, to heal humans, but all it took to get her to work for some time in the medic camp was one cut up child. One little girl cut pretty bad and crying on the battlefield, and Nanashi could not help herself.

The children did not complain that she was using blood to heal them at least. It made them feel better, and that was all they were concerned about.

He had been called Paradoxis for one specific reason.

He was both a warrior and a healer. He was a survivalist and there was neither good nor evil about that. Renne had fought as well as he could but as much as he wanted to continue, his mind had persuaded him to try helping in this branch of things.

Although still in his starry-armour regalia, the creature had long since dismounted from the illusion-unicorn of earlier and quietly crawls toward the sound of a medical triage.

Re: Makeshift Medical

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
At first, Renne hadn't been sure how or if he could be of any use here. However, as the insane battle-fury had worn off in his weary crawl, the creature had listened closely. He filtered through the pain of others and outright blocked that of his own to find the triage.

Logic dictated that some could not be moved without risk of further trauma.

Logic dictated that there, he could do some good. So there, Renne went and to the first life-form he came across, the Healer instinct in him flared like a nova.

With life so close to the line, the Empath had to forego the tenets of permission. With life so close on the line, Renne did what he knew he could do.

"Man this sucks..." said Matt, setting to work. He didn't know if it was said because he wasn't out there fighting, or the amount of injured people from cuts and lacerations.

"Gather together, that's it, that's it... perfect. Hold that pose."

Matt held out his hands and concentrated, making damn sure he was well away from Renne when he did this. No sense to throw the little dude into a fit.

A minute. Two.

"GET BETTER DAMN YOU!"

Light flashed and people found their injuries healed.

It was utter chaos.

Jenny hadn't really seen anything like this before, but she was prepared. The way she had been born, the thoughts that had been downloaded into her mind made her prepared. And, as much as she tried to deny that part of herself, to deny the soldier in her, sometimes it took over. It had to, so that she could survive, so that she could keep a level head and help other people who were in danger.

So, holding the young girl tight against her chest, she did her best to find some sort of medical help. The young girl, no older than three or four, had been wailing when Jenny first found her, her leg bent at an odd angle. Now her cries had settled down to whimpers, though she wasn't so sure that was a good thing. Maybe the little girl was going into shock. That thought alone pushed Jenny to walk faster as she whispered comforting words into the girl's brown curls.

Finally, having spotted where the medical team had set up shop, she rushed towards them. Just as she was about to set the girl down on a bed, to ask for help, her whole world went white. And, when her eyes adjusted, she found that the little girl was healed.

Matt wiped his forehead just a little. This much magic and he was starting to get low. He had gone back to the bus, resupplied before coming back in. But he was burning magic like crazy.

Walking over to Jenny, he bent over the little girl. "Hey kiddo, looks like you got a shot of my healing magic," he said to her.

Looking up, he smiled at Jenny. "welcome to the med bay. I'm Matt, and I'll be your healer."

Jenny smiled at the man, her eyes wide with amazement, "That was...well, that was brilliant! How did you do it?"

The little girl burrowed up against Jenny as the man spoke to her. Jenny held the toddler tighter, whispering, "Hey, it's all right. No need to be shy. Look at that, he fixed your leg, good as new..."

Jenny, of course, grinned back at Matt, "Nice to meet you, I'm Jenny. Thank you so much for your help. I think she was starting to go into shock." As if on cue, the little girl turned to look at Matt, a tiny smile on her face.

"Magic," replied Matt, tossing a ball of pink magic and rolling it from side to side before he presented it to the little girl. "It likes you," said Matt as the magic ribbon looked up and seemed to tickle the girl.

"And not a problem. Any injuries for yourself?"

Re: Makeshift Medical

[identity profile] rejenny.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Jenny was in awe of the magic, and she had so many questions about it, so much she wanted to understand. But, despite the ever-present urge to ask, to ramble off one question after another, she recognized that Matt probably had his hands full at the moment.

The little girl giggled as the ribbon tickled her, squirming to the point where Jenny had to put her down. The girl bounced up and down as she attempted to catch the ribbon, as if she felt the need to test out her newly-healed leg.

Jenny shook her head while keeping an eye on the girl, "No, no injuries. Besides...I seem to heal pretty fast."

"That's good then, helps us in the long run." said Matt. "Are you planning on heading out to help again or are you going to help here in medical for a while?"

Re: Makeshift Medical

[identity profile] rejenny.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Jenny watched as the little girl started to take in her surroundings with wide eyes, finally realizing that she was in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people. She then spoke to Matt in a softer voice, "I'm not sure what to do... I can't leave her here all alone. Not when we don't know where her parents are, or if they're even... I just can't do that to her."

"Then stay with her," said Matt with a smile. "The best thing to do when someone is lost is to stick together, and find who she belongs after the fighting ends. Don't worry, we'll finish off the Ohm here and reunite everyone."

Simon hadn't felt comfortable going on shore leave without his medkit, and unfortunately now it was coming in handy. Even amidst the chaos of the evacuation, it wasn't difficult for the surgeon to know where he would be useful and sought out other members of the medical team, whether he knew them or not. He could recognize crewmates, at least, and he could certainly recognize a medical station, makeshift or not.

Swallowing his own fear (what if they failed here? What if they were forced to leave before the whole crew had returned?), Simon tried his best to concentrate on the task at hand--calming and treating the civilians injured in their escape to the shuttles. He would be no use to anyone if he let worrying get the better of him. This is why Stacy had chosen him, and he was determined to do his job.

Sam's at the next bed, completely focused on his patient. It's a young woman, blond, dressed to kill. Sam had left his jacket forgotten somewhere, his shirtsleeves were rolled up, and he was up to his elbows extracting shards of glass from the poor woman, who was mercifully asleep. Not only were there glass, there was a large gash in her thigh, presumably caused by one of the Ohm. From the looks of things, she was lucky to be alive.

He didn't realize someone else was there for a while. "Dr. Tam, if you've got a hand to lend for a couple minutes, I could use it. She's losing too much blood too quickly for this to be a one-man job."

Laurie is breathing in and out, standing somewhere where she is the tallest above everyone. She has her arms out, head tilted back, and her stance is cool and collected...oh, how she is not really!

But, she digresses, and keeps her stances. Pheromones outpour, calm and soothing, tranquil and light, soft and warm... Happy thoughts. Caaaaaaaalm thoughts. Waterfalls. Clouds. Bunnies. Kittens. Buddha.

The pheromones seep into the people, calming down a flighty person, easing the tension in the small children, causing the most argumentative and nasty-mooded in this time of battle...to come to agreements.

Please. Safe. Help others. Be a friend. Move in straight lines. Keep together. All together. One big team. Cooperate. Everything will be alright.

She perseveres to continue to think this. Because if she stops thinking this, then her pheromones will begin to unravel.

Sasami limped to the where the triage was, the fight in her spent. As much as she wanted to jump back in, she wanted to relax. She took a seat nearby, trying to make sure those who needed it weren't deprived of one.

As she did, she willed the armor away, allowing her wounds to be shown better. She would catch her breath, tend to her wounds, then hopefully either hop back in or pull a retreat.

At the moment, she was worried about Negi and his state...

Katara had seen quite a few of the people on the planet, but there was no mistaking this girl: she was the one that had helped bring Negi back from whatever he had been transforming into. At the moment, she could have hugged her. She'd been feeling so overwhelmed, such a range of emotion that if she had lost Negi, it would have killed her. And now she could do something for her.

"Come here Sasami," Katara said, and she examined the cuts carefully. "I saw you limping out there, and you still came. You must be pretty strong! What have you been doing during the attack?"

She brought the water to her hands and started in her shoulder.

Sasami blinked in surprise as Katara called out to her before changing the look into one of relief.

"Before helping Negi?" Sasami asked. "Helping rescue some puppies from those creatures... I couldn't let anyone get hurt... I had to get out there."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Katara laughed at Sasami's reaction. "Oh. Well, remember that drink you two had? Well, it made him very happy, and so he wound up looking very silly, but happy you two got to spend time together. I wondered what you were like, that Negi spoke so well of you, but I think it see it now. You are a lot like him."

She smiled. "But I know what you mean. It's why I'm here now. We're hoping to get as many evacuees off the planet that we can. We've been pretty busy."

Sasami blushed as Katara made mention of the drink they had. She hadn't expect it to be alcoholic nor the fact that they passed out in his room in each other's arms. Then again, it was nice...

"...it's rough out there. They won't stop." Sasami said. "...I want to go back out there and help, especially since Negi's out there."

She lowered her head slightly, a small smile on her face. "I care about him... a lot." She looked back at Katara, a sheepish grin on her face. "...I'm sure you understand, don't you?"

"I know," Katara said. "I can fight pretty well myself, but I knew if I did any more of that, I wouldn't have enough strength to help people like this. So if you go back out there, then its going to be my job to patch you up as best as I can!"

She smiled. "I got that, yeah. You were the one that smacked him that one time, weren't you?"

Sasami's face turned even redder as Katara brought that incident up.

"Y-Yeah... that was me. He was just so lost in his anger and he needed something to snap him out so... I... slapped him." she said, fidgeting a bit. "He has a lot of potential, but... he puts too much weight on himself..."

Re: Makeshift Medical

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Katara laughed a little as she started to bandage up her shoulder.

"I was upset when I found out at first, actually. Negi has a history of violent women coming after him, so I was trying to steer him out of that. But when I thought about it, I realized you did it out of concern. It would hurt, but it woke him up, and he was a little better when I saw him later. And you're right, he does do that. But its only because he cares."

She still remembered that memory of what happened to his village. She identified with that immediately.

That little bit she didn't realize about Negi. She knew that he had a bunch of girls around, but didn't know that they were a little violent.

"Heh... I didn't know what to do then. All I could think of was trying to get him to wake up and see what he was doing. Though, next time, I'll try something different that's a little less painful." Sasami said.

"Though, I hope he realizes he's not alone in this..."
