CEEEEEELEBRATE GOOD TIMES~

Several buildings in the City had been completely destroyed during Aang's rampage, but a few had survived relatively unscathed. It had only taken Kang two days to repair the Drunken Dragon; he'd done so by himself, not even waiting for his leg to heal up a bit first.

Usually, he didn't bother lighting any candles or using the fireplace in the tavern unless it was a period when the artificial sun had set. He could see perfectly fine in the dim light. For the celebration, though, he'd thrown the windows open wide, scrounged up every candle he could find, and started up a fire, knowing that human vision wasn't as good as his own. The tables surrounding the stage had been cleaned, as well as the tankards, and the door was propped open. The bozak had even wrestled two of the 60-gallon barrels from the back room into a corner of the main room for easier access, one of cactus juice and one of ale. If more was needed, he was sure he could get someone to help bring out another.

Tess had commandeered the kitchen to make her food, bringing in her own equipment. Kang had been slightly afraid at first that she was going to burn the place down, but nothing had happened yet. She seemed to know what she was doing, even if she'd given him a few scares.

The sunlight glistened on the old sword blade teeth and dinnerplate eyes of the comical-looking wooden dragon grinning above the entrance. Come in, relax, have a drink and a bite to eat!

[OOC note: Both drinks are alcoholic, and the cactus juice has twice the kick of the ale. :D;]

"Indeed, in such a situation survival takes precedence over decorum."

There are plenty of people on the ship who take the time to giggle at hers (though Jamie does do a decent imitation of it, she'll give him that much), so she's not all that worried about giggling over someone else's.

"Didn't doubt I'd get there, just a matter of when more than anythin' else." She's more happy it got fixed up without an infection starting.

Kaylee obviously pouts at the reel comment, though there's still plenty of merriment in her eyes. "Not for a bit. Can't even work on half of engineerin' til it heals up, either."

"That explains why I haven't seen you before." Well, she had seen a Spock but not this one. "It's a real honor to meet you."

...Oh you just had to say something like that.

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
"I have volunteered my services to that department, yes," Spock conceded. "Mr. Cranston expressed a desire to improve the computing team."

He raised an eyebrow slightly. "Starfleet was not a military organization, though it was structurally similar. Its primary purpose was exploration and scientific discovery."

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
"...Indeed." It was possible that Captain Kirk had spoken of him in the past. "May I inquire as to your area of expertise on the ship?"

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Eee? Rrrr-enne noh..." Wait. Ear-twitch.

"Fuh-mill-lerrr. Li-ke wi-th krrrit-terrr yeu kno-w?" Alas, Spock, yes, ya gotta break it down.

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Her giggling was highly illogical, but Spock overlooked it. "Individuality is commendable, though it appears as though some members of the crew have approached insubordination in the wake of the battle. Such actions hinder rebuilding efforts."

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
"That is correct," Spock said. Well, it was sort of the basic idea, anyway.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Everybody's just a bit tense 'n cranky right now," she promised. "It'll get better once things settle a bit and people have time to readjust. Not everybody fixes themselves at the same rate, after all."

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
"It is possible that the scientific knowledge attained by my universe had yet to encompass what you call 'magic'," Spock conceded. For the moment, that was his story and he was sticking to it.

"Oooh. Pock-kit noh do tha-t?"

Chitter. Here, the oddity leans forward a bit, kind of to try and offer a wee nuzzle. He's quite psi-dead so he can't go and mind-invade.

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Spock nodded in concession. "Humans in particular have many and varied reactions to traumatic events."

Jamie can understand not wanting to be shot with a gun. "Aye," he says fervently. "I've been shot myself. I don't care for it at all. Although why didna ye..." He tilts his head, considering Kang's size. He might not have fit in the tank, come to think of it. "Never mind."

There's something about that statement that seems interesting, and it doesn't take long for Jamie to figure out what it is. "I take it ye don't have guns in your world then? Or was it just that ye were verra lucky in that regard?"

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
"I... do not possess the necessary familiarity," Spock said.

He froze just a little when the creature nuzzled him, but he did not experience any telepathic undercurrents. Most unusual.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly." At least he understood that much. "Never know what you're gonna get, especially when somethin's messin' with minds the way the Nightmare King was." She paused and blinked, head tilted to the side. "Vulcans only got one reaction, then?"

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Vulcans attempt to react logically," Spock explained. "It is a fundamental tenet of Vulcan culture."

"Yeah... Thankfully we were rescued. And then we got the podsuits... Which are nasty too, but it was better than being slime covered and naked."

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Kaylee raised an eyebrow. "C'mon, you can't be logical for everythin', can you? There's so much of life that ain't based at all on logic. Sometimes you just gotta go with gut feelin's, even if nothin' else makes sense."

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Eee. Pock-kit noh go-t frrrien-d?"

Squeak-chitter. Ears twitching, the oddity's skin flashes a kind of saddened indigo-blue.

Jamie's not immune to the pout, unfortunately. He was going to try and needle her a little more, but doesn't for the moment. Instead he winds up saying, "Aye, well, I don't know about that. I'm sure ye would have plenty of people would be willing to help ye and be a set of extra arms if ye wanted."

He could probably be easily persuaded. Especially in his current inebriated state.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Definitely wouldn't mind the help," she admits, tapping her chin, "though there's nothin' like doin' it yourself, y'know? But as long as I could hunt out somebody who didn't mind my hoverin' so much, it could work."

She was use to teaching people. Hell, she'd taught Book plenty about Serenity. Why not work with somebody else on Stacy? Kaylee smiled, a slightly mischievous grin. "Just need a volunteer or two..."
bonnypiperlad: (ohcrap)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2010-03-19 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
"I could help ye," Jamie says without thinking, then realizes belatedly that that pretty much does mean he just volunteered. The ale is going to his head more than he realized. Or it might be the cute girl.

"Ah, that is, I could help, but I'm no so good with some of these things..." He doesn't even really have an idea of what Engineering does, other than build machines he doesn't understand. And blow things up, but that's mostly Wyn.

Unfortunately, that grin of Kaylee's doesn't bode well for him managing to back-pedal his way out of this.

Marco left Ax to his own devices - he knew he could rely on Ac to back him up, whatever happened.

He liked Claudia, yes. She was cute and funny and smart and arguing about how had met the coolest people on the ship with her was fun. But Marco has spent three years of his life fighting the Yeerk War. And he had never really managed to unlearn the mentality that anyone could be an enemy. He probably never would.

So right now? He was definitely regarding Claudia as a possible enemy to him, Ax and Tobias. Maybe even Elfnagor and Loren too, although the other Animorphs were definitely Marco's priority. If she knew information about him that he hadn't revealed then she had a source that was out of Marco's control, and that she potential had information about him and the other Animorphs that could be used against them.

But she was supposed to be a friend. Maybe not someone he could trust yet, but at least someone who wouldn't stab him in the back anytime soon. To say that Marco was not happy about this would be a massive understatement. And he definitely wanted an explanation.

"If you weren't spying, then how the hell do you know about us?" he said cooly. "We don't go around telling people we're Animorphs."

She slid gracefully in next to him. "It's the nature of women. We are cruel one moment and the pictures of sweetness the next. The food isn't much like what i'm used to either but it will line your stomach and the salt will balance your electrolytes." It wasn't like a Reverend Mother was ever going to have health problems anyway.

Sheeana glanced over at him from across the room, steely blue eyes questioning. Did he still want to talk to her? She searched him for signs of anger.
