Transmigration 9: Brave New Worlds
Pan-fandom, SciFi, and Screwed-Up
September 1st, 2009
Today, the sensoriums are decked out like a baseball field, enshrouded in conifers. A storm rumbles overhead and while there may not be any vampires hanging around, Supermassive Black Hole could quite possibly be playing in the background. And Peter Parker, decked out in a Meatship Mets jersey, could quite possibly be dancing his way up to the plate.

"... and now Parker steps up to bat," he commentates peppily to himself, "It's been a tough start to the season for the young Forest Hills leadoff. The coaches are attributing his bad form to an unfortunate case of abduction but at only twenty one, he's certainly got pluck."

From the mound a pitching machine groans into life and spits out its first ball. There's a resounding crack as he drives the ball squarely down centerfield, his spider-strength powering the ball way off into the trees.

"We caught up with Parker after the game for a few words on his magnificent opening punt post-game." he continues, "'Well, what can I say Kent? After the last few misfires we decided to keep play simple this time around. I just play to my strengths, Kent. I've got a good arm and as my uncle taught me, with great power comes great responsibility...'"

So, anyone up for a game of metabaseball? Somebody has to shut him up.
Despite yesterday's strange turn of events, Katara was upbeat about the meeting at the Statuary. All in all, it was a rather relaxing place, and Katara thought it would be perfect for getting to know her teammates. She made sure she adjusted the communicator for Kazuki on one of the nearby statues. He wouldn't need it now, but she still wanted it there since she and Allen worked so hard on it. She only hoped that Julian didn't mind that she had arranged all of this, since he was their team leader. Of course, Katara knew full well that she was the type to get like this, but the others didn't. She hoped it wasn't too jarring.

And she hoped Sokka wasn't late.

The statues were unrecognizeable to her, and as far as she was concerned, that was a good thing. Seeing all of the past Avatar statues, not to mention a grown up Aang, had been a little too daunting for her taste. She waited, and made sure she sent out a reminder to all of her teammates.
Sokka poked distastefully at the mush in the edible plate that sat in front of him. This sucked. A lot. He'd been willing to deal with it for a few days but now this was just ridiculous. There was literally nothing to eat here besides the mush. And Sokka of the Water Tribe did not eat mush. He ate meat. Lots of it. This diet just would not do. He sulkily lifted a bit of the 'food' (it was only food by the loosest of his definitions) to his mouth and began chewing, complaining around the stuff.

"This sucks."

||Pod Release Protocols Initating|| Stacy's familiar voice sounds out to all the podmates through the ship.

In the Pod Caverns, there are the sounds of: Pop. Pop pop pop. Poppuhpoppoppop. KASCHUNKhiiiiiiiissssss.

There is condensation and mist spraying out from cracks in the pods, as the people inside slide out onto the floors, covered in slime.

Another day, another podpop. The crew and command crew has gathered on Obs Deck to greet the newbs, but right now the atmosphere is tense. People are taking turns on rotations to alternately hunt for Sam--who'd been kept in prison during the trial to present his assassinating the Yeerk-- and guard said parasite so it can have a fair trial. The Jury is in recess, for the moment, but will be deciding the Yeerk's fate very soon. A bunch of new people thrown into the mix is tremendous complication.

Meanwhile, the newbies are waking up to a strange, new world, one unlike anything they may have ever seen before. In the Obs Deck, the light of stars--and parallel universes--streaks past in a sleek, transcendent sheet of multi-colored lights in the large, eye-like windows. (They're inside the eyes, looking out, it seems). The statue in the center of the room, going up the domed ceiling is intimidating--and seems to be looking at them.

The tension is palpable, though a few individuals are trying to cut through it with friendliness for the benefit of the scared and bewildered new people now waking up from their gooey slumber.

After a series of vicious ego-bruising arguments, Asuka had slipped away from the observation deck to go sulk. Well, she wouldn't call it sulking, but really, that's what it was. She already hated this place and, by extension, most of the people on board. No one cared about what she'd managed to accomplish. No one cared that she was a prodigy, that she was intelligent, that she was the best Eva pilot in the world. They just wanted her to be quiet. The fact that this was partly (if not mostly) her own fault seemed to not register to her (or if it did, she was ignoring it very effectively).

She found herself just... wandering. She didn't know this place and she hated it, anyway. She didn't have anywhere to go - all she knew was that she wasn't going back so she could just be humiliated again. She found a quiet corner, away from everyone (she hoped) and buried her head in her arms. She wasn't crying - she was never going to cry again - she was just thinking, away from everyone. That was all.
