Outsiders Training, Spectators Welcome [Please wait for appropriate sub-threads]

Slobo stood back with Superbike and surveyed his work. On a street in the city, he had rigged a PA system with speakers from Outsider's Plaza. Static would probably be unhappy with that, but it's worth it. On either end of the street a red line is drawn in spray-paint. Everything was set, now he made the call and waited.

Haku was annoyed. Then again, he was usually annoyed these days, but today he was annoyed because he could no longer smell the pervasive stink of flesh all around him. He'd adjusted.

Haku did not want to adjust.

So, despite that Slobo had done nothing particularly wrong, he got an icy stare as Haku approached on foot. Well, maybe this would be distracting.

Sokka sauntered in, his (now usual) sword and shotgun slung across his back.

"Heya, Slo'. What's up?"

"Alright, Chalky, I adjusted to roster again. Cissie is listed now. You're sure she agreed to join?" Static said as he ambled over. He looked around before it hit him.

"You stole those speakers from the Plaza, didn't you?"

Well now, this was good. Rose would get a chance to see just what the other Outsiders were made of. She had no problem with her skills, but when she wasn't found in the pool she was generally in the sensorium getting a workout.

It didnt take her long to reach the marked out areas. Her katana's marking her own personal space out on either side of her. A routine of impressive flexibility and muscle control took her in quick movements around a small circle.

Stretching and waking her muscles for whatever was to come, unlike her waking from the pods there was some warning with this challenge. Also unlike that fight, this was not likely to be lethal. Rose bent and twisted, a flip letting her scoop up one blade before her feet touched down by the other. Fingers closed on the hilt and both blades flashed up before her, cutting the air with a sharp short whistle.

She really needed to get an on ship hobby.

Shadow wasn't thrilled over the sudden announcement, but seeing as he had yet to meet some of the other members of the group, he decided to join in. Besides, maybe those in the group would be just as good as either himself or that Nanoha woman.

"So, training, huh? I hope you can make it worthwhile."

As he stopped, he looked over at the other members. Hello, Outsiders. Meet Slobo's possible mass hallucination!

The moment she saw Slobo's message, Katara got excited. She had been spending the last few days exercising in the Sensoriums, but now she saw that she actually had something to do, she was anxious to see what the other Outsiders could do.

She rushed over to the city and was happy to see her brother, Roxie, Rose and Static assembling. The others she didn't know, but she would make sure to introduce herself soon. She waved to them excitedly, and then looked around at the red paint.

"What's going on?"

Nanoha had been doing some warm-up flying in the sky above for a good fifteen or so minutes, though she wasn't yet in her Barrier Jacket. She touched down on the ground, the shimmering wings on her heels fading from sight as she stood back, a bit behind the others.

She wondered what sort of training they had prepared.

Well, Pirogoeth DID say she was checking it out. So here she was. She looked around at everyone, wanting to see just who else was a part of this group.

So there was training to be done. In the city. In the damn CITY. He hated that city.

But Shadow Link did come.

He was just sulking in that shadow of the building over there.

Hunter shows up just a little bit behind everyone else, but it's enough to make him stick to the edges of the group and hopefully avoid notice.

Slobo waited until the last of the team had arrived. At which point he produced a soccer ball.

"Alright, most of us ain't worked tagether yet. This is gonna help get that, encourage people ta lead when they gotta, and let everyone see what everyone else is capable of." He grinned. "We're gonna split inta teams and play a couple o' games o' superpowered rugby. The object is ta get the ball, and get it across the other team's goal. There are three rules: One - No killin'. Frag one of us, and obviously, yer off the team. Two - No fraggin' the ball. It's cheatin'. And we ain't got no replacement. Three - No pickin' Hunter. He's our medic. Which means, Hunter, if anyone gets hurt, I want ya on the field, fix 'em, an' then off. We ain't stoppin' play fer injuries." He started walking like Patton somewhere in the middle of this speech.

"Now, the roster says there are fifteen of us without Hunter. So the teams will get ta split inta four, with the last one I call havin' ta deal with three." He now began pointing at people.

"Team Magica." He said pointing at Nanoha.

"Will be squarin' off against team Swordsman." He said, now pointing at Sokka. He then pointed to Katara.

"And team Tidal..." His grin became almost vicious now. "... Will face off against team Static."

"Any questions?"

Captains, assemble your teams.

"Alright, if there ain't any more questions," Slobo said after he had answered every last query the team had, "Then caps can start assembling their teams. Nanoha, ya annoy me the least. You get to pick your three from the roster first. (http://static-shock68.livejournal.com/938.html) Then Sokka. Then Katara. Then Shocky."

She chuckled at his joke - or was it a joke? She couldn't actually tell - but Nanoha had been considering her picks ever since he'd named her as a captain. Two of them were fairly easy, since she'd met them already and was rather curious to see how they'd work as a team - she nodded at the young man who she'd trained with in the Sensorium, "Sheik."

Her attention turned to the small black-furred creature that she'd spoken with as well, the one who believed himself a weapon, "Shadow."

As for the third, though... she turned to Pirogoeth. "I don't think we've met before - I'm Nanoha. How about you?"

"Um...hm." He studied the remaining members for a minute.

"Mai, Terry...and...uh....Hunter, I guess."

Katara waited while Nanoha and Sokka chose their teams, a little put off that she didn't get to choose Mai, but that was okay. This would give her a chance to get to know some of the Outsiders she didn't know as much anyway.

Still, it was good to see a few familiar faces.

"Shadow," she said, then had to clarify, "The non-hedgehog one."

She turned to the girl from Karaoke she was still starting to get to know. "Rose."

And finally she turned to one of the Outsiders she knew pretty well, and knew would be a good player. "Roxie."

"Alright, then that leaves Slobo and the great Kohaku River God himself working with me." Static grinned and walked over to them, already set with who would be on what position.

Game 1 - Team Magica vs Team Swordsman

Slobo looked around, then at Sokka.

"Alright, Swordsman, looks like Cissie ain't showin'. Meanin' I'll haveta play both games. I'm fillin' in for her." He smiled. "I DO love full contact..."

He stepped forward and placed the ball in the center of the street, moving down to Sokka's goal.

"ALRIGHT! WHEN THE MUSIC STARTS ROCKIN', SO DO WE!" With that, he produced a datapad and hit a button. From the PA system, Motley's Crue's "Kickstart my Heart" began playing loudly.

"GAME ON!"

Nanoha's hand came up to the jewel hanging around her neck, which spoke in its synthetic female voice as letters flashed across its surface: "Stand by, Ready. Barrier Jacket: Set Up, Aggressor Mode."

In a quick flash of magenta light, the girl was clad in the blue-and-white robes of her Barrier Jacket, Raising Heart in its staff form in her hands, and the wings that shimmered to life on her heels lifted her above the ground.

"Just like we planned," she called down to her team, locking a cartridge into her Device and pointing it at the opponents. Just because they were going to try to make this a good game didn't mean they weren't going to be playing to win.

Static walked over to Katara and the rest. "You know, this could be interesting. The team choices make this slightly lopsided in terms of power, so I can't wait to see how it goes."

Game 2 - Team Tidal versus Team Static

The first game was over, and it was time for the second. Slobo joined Virgil's team with Haku and looked at Static.

"I'ma play fullback." Evil grin. "Gimme five seconds and Ravager's toast." With that, he turned around and hit his button again. This time, ACDC's "Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap)" began playing.

"GAME ON!"

Static put his hand on Slobo's shoulder before he could get away to the field. "Woah, no you don't. Slo, you are not taking the fullback. Haku's fullback. I need him on the goal, and I need you up with me. You're going to be both the hooker and the prop. I'm running as the Lock and the eightman."

He turned to Haku. "Haku, your job is the goal. You're to fullback; if they get passed us, they've got to try and get through you. Your dragon form'll give us an edge based on size, and your powers will help counter Katara's as well."

Back to Slobo. "Watch out for Roxie; we know you're weak against her stuff. I'm going to focus on her and Shadow most of all, you've got Katara and Rose, 'cause Katara's power can short me out, and...I'll explain about Rose later."

He was still a little pale after everything with Rose... it hadn't quite set in yet. "I'm going to take the air, when we pull out of the scrum do everything you can to get the ball to me. Air'll give us at least a bit of an advantage." He smiled. "Didn't you know? We actually had a rugby team back at Hemingway High."
