Outsiders Training, Spectators Welcome [Please wait for appropriate sub-threads]

Slobo stood back with Superbike and surveyed his work. On a street in the city, he had rigged a PA system with speakers from Outsider's Plaza. Static would probably be unhappy with that, but it's worth it. On either end of the street a red line is drawn in spray-paint. Everything was set, now he made the call and waited.

"Hey." Hunter says, awkwardly returning the fist-bump. (He is very carefully not commenting on 'Huntsalot'.) "So, what's the exercise?"

"Sadly, I've got no idea. I mean, Slobo and I are supposed to be running things together, but..." He shrugged. "chalky tends to like to do things his own way. All I know is the main point of today's exercise is for everyone to get a better handle on what we can all do... Can't work as a team if I'm the only one who knows what everyone can do, right?"

"Well. That's just specific enough to be absolutely terrifying." Hunter says, looking more than a bit concerned. "Although I guess I see the point."

Static chuckled. "Welcome to my life."

"This is going to be a regular thing, isn't it?" Hunter sounds more resigned than anything.

"What, the terror or the training? 'Cause it's 50/50 on one of those, yes on the other."

"The terror. I expected the training, although it'd be nice if y'all didn't actually need me." Hunter says with a shrug.

"I get the impression we're gonna need you a lot, actually. Having a healer means that certain members don't have to hold back as much. Obviously, we've got to keep the whole 'no killing' rule around, but with our faction of ninja-esque peoples, there's bound to be injuries, meaning we're bound to need you around. But don't worry; you get used to the terror." He grinned.

Hunter has joined a team full of crazy people. (This has only just occurred to him, unfortunately.) "Yeah... I can fix a lot of things, but death isn't one of them." Hunter says. "And getting used to it might be more terrifying than what's actually going on."

"Flaws in the superheroing business, I'm afraid. After a while, the fact that you keep pushing through the terror helps you to realize you aren't just doing something; you want to do it. Otherwise, you wouldn't still be doing it. And once you've gained that confidence, well, villains beware." Static had been doing this for a while; he could, if pressed, rationalize anything. He wouldn't like it, of course, but he could probably do it.

He's even managed to rationalize killing, dangerous as that is.

"... superheroing business?" That was not at all expected. "Did I join some kind of superteam without noticing?"

Re: Arrivals

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-11-24 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Only insofar as the team was formed by Slobo and Myself, both capes, and contains a bunch of people with superpowers. We don't intend for anyone here to run off supering, but if they do, so be it." He shrugged. "It's kind of what I do with my life, so most of my life experiences obviously follow it. I don't mean you should do it, man. Unless you really want to. It's dangerous."

Static, master of the obvious, has spoken.

"I wasn't planning on it. Superhero's a bad job choice for a pacifist." Hunter says with a slightly sheepish grin.

"Not as bad a choice as it is for a survivalist."
