Karaoke Night [OPEN]

Between nearly killing himself trying to help people and his talk with Nathan, Peter was exhausted. Even with his upbeat demeanor, it was hard to not say he felt stressed. His flight-breaks no longer helping, he decided he needed to take a few hours. He found himself at the sensoriums, a place he had heard talked about like the holodeck from Star Trek. As he walked in, it was a blank room. He closed his eyes and thought to himself.

I just need a way to relax.

He suddenly heard music, and opened his eyes to what appeared to be a high class nightclub, but filled with the strangest creatures he had ever seen, even since arriving on the ship. Behind the bar, a green-skinned redhead with horns, more conspicuous for his paisley shirt and purple ascot, was trying to get his attention.

"Hey, kiddo, didn't you hear them call your name?" The demon said, smiling. "You're up, bubbulah. Don't worry, I picked a good song for you." Peter eyed him warily. Wherever this place had come from, it was not his head. But decided not to question it, and went to stand in front of a karaoke machine on stage. He picked up the mike and saw the song, and smiled. He loved this song. EVERYONE loved this song. Luckily, a few years in boy's choir had given him a sense of tune, and puberty had left him with a decent tenor. So, he began to sing.

o/` I can't fight this feeling any longer,
And yet I'm still afraid to let it flow... o/`

That was all it took. As if suddenly injected with 100 ccs of pure rock ballad awesome, Peter closed his eyes and began letting the music take him, eventually rocking out. He had forgotten what it was like, honestly. Forgotten the fun of just letting go and having fun. And as he finished up the REO Speedwagon classic, breathing heavily and feeling alive, he wished he hadn't.

But then he opened his eyes to notice more than just his holographic audience had filtered into the "club".

"Uh... Next?" He said as he hastily replaced the mike and went to get a holo-beer.

That was embarrassing.  He could only hope someone would follow him up and make it slightly less so.

[ooc: Start a subthread with your character approaching the stage and singing a song. Characters can react to other's performances even if they aren't singing themselves. And any song you'd like, Lorne has the entire mutliverse on karaoke. I'm not asking, and neither should you.]

Seeing as a great deal of the "Outsiders" team had gathered here, it didn't look like it would be too bad to hang around here as well. But, seeing Sonic get up on stage and sing? There was no way he was going to let him go off and brag that he could sing.

Taking the mic, Shadow let the the song start up, beginning with a soft piano solo for a good 30-40 seconds before the song really picks up with the drums and guitars. Tapping his feet he wait for the moment to start...

...and began singing.

It's been a long, rough road
And I'm finally here
I move an inch forword,
Feels like a year

Everything you feel,
It's so unreal
Is it true?
Is it true?

I take one step forward
Two steps back
I have a hundred-thousand pounds
Sitting on my back

Up, down
All around
Don't know quite what to do
To get through

Well I'm on my way
On my way
On my way
On my way

Here I am (Here I am)
Made it to
The end of you

Never had a chance when I'm around (No, No)

No No No No

Well now I'll never turn back (Never turn back)
I'll never turn that way
No matter how life tries to face me,
I turn the other way

Now and then (Now and then)
My head starts to spin (Starts to spin)
I'll never turn back....again!

From this moment on (Moment on)
I am moving on (Moving on)
And I'll never turn back!

I guess I'm doing alright
I'm on my way
Facing every moment
Day by day

Take a chance on black
Or tunnel into light
Head straight
Head straight

What will I become if I don't look back?
Give myself a reason, for this had lack

I can learn
I can turn
I can stay right here
Where I'm at
Where I'm at

Well I'm on my way
On my way
On my way
On my way

Well here I am (Here I am)
Made it to
The end of you

Never had a chance when I'm around (No, No)

No No No No

Well now I'll never turn back (Never turn back)
I'll never turn that way
No matter how life tries to face me,
I'll turn the other way

Now and then (Now and then)
My head starts to spin (Starts to spin)
I'll never turn back....again!

From this moment on (Moment on)
I am moving on (Moving on)
And I'll never turn back !

I
I
I'll never turn back!

Nathan stared at him, and almost left the stage. He knew the song of course, rather liked it at the time. Remembering it from the later days of high school. Of course, he wouldn't get the irony of the lyrics till now.

"~I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing

Well the good ol' days, may not return
And the rocks might melt & the sea may burn~"

This is not something that Goliath would normally attend, except to watch at a distance. And even more so, not at a time like this, when he is still reeling with disorientation, immersed in the pain of the possibility that he is - truly this time - the last of his kind.

But that is a lot of noise for one place, when the rest of the ship is so quiet. And so he slips in quietly, standing like the statue he has been - possibly for thousands more years - in a dark corner. Just to watch.

Eventually, when the songs take a more solemn turn, when it becomes clear he is not the only one mourning family, he begins to think of verses from his homeland, poems he read before and after sleeping for a thousand years.

Late in the evening, when many songs have been song, a deep, mournful voice fills the room, soft but pervasive. The translation engines shadow the Gaelic of the ancient dirge, so that his language is still clear as he mourns his long dead brothers, their fate sealed and sorrowful, and Manhattan clan - whose fate he cannot be certain of.

He's not sure which hurts him more.

Roxie listens closely, eyes closed but body language eminently respectful. Her eyes only open again once he is completely done, though it takes long moments for her strangely-dilated pupils to adapt properly to the light again.

Roxie shuffles her way up to the stage, fiddling with the microphone to adjust it downwards. For a moment she just looks as disconnected as usual, and then she starts to sing—

"I'm a legionnaire, camel in disrepair, hoping for a frigid air to come passing by... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOc1mn-4EzE)"

There is a strange bell-like resonance in her voice—something that catches the ears without disturbing them, immediately distinguishable from the volume of the volume of the instrumental despite her singing almost whisper-quietly. The whole effect is rather... ethereal. Inhuman, in a beautiful way.

[identity profile] top-teen-38.livejournal.com 2009-11-13 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
Slobo is captivated. Other than something he saw earlier, it may be the most beautiful thing he has been exposed to. That bell-like tinge... It's just so amazing to someone who's hearing has been forced to be slightly higher than other people's due to experiences. He applauds immediately. He's honestly not sure anyone else heard it like he did.

This, in the end, is guaranteed to only hurt Slo' more.

A Bene Gesserit's voice can be a sharp edged weapon, a thing that compels obediance, or a tool of seduction. But right now Sheeana is simply unwinding. Her vocal control is exact, so much so that it doesn't have to appear controlled at all. The song she sings is a whimsical meditation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTuSDNRJYmE) on reincarnation that has an ironic signifigance to her.

It should be noted that she sings all her own backing vocals too.

Meluly has dragged Lafiel in—quite possibly literally, in fact. By the slight unevenness in her usually very smooth steps, Luly's either overtired or intoxicated—and the unfocused look in her eyes points to the latter.

But she's roping Lafiel in towards the microphone, anyway, as a song starts up, an arm wrapped around her either to support herself a little or keep Lafiel from running away or both.

"Mm ba ba de... Um bum ba de... Um bu bu bum da de... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtrEN-YKLBM)"

[identity profile] not-prncss-tldr.livejournal.com 2009-11-13 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
Lafiel knows better than to challenge Meluly in this state, Empress or no. When she gets into this state there is nothing to do but let her ride it out until she's tired. So she lets herself be led toward the microphone.

Both join in at "Pressure!". Lafiel's parts are Freddy Mercury's higher pitched ones.

When they are done, her cheeks are bright red.

Bee's had finally come out of his shock, and, as a result, was less than his happy self.

"I remembered black skies, the lightning all around me
I remembered each flash as time began to blur
Like a startling sign that fate had finally found me
And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve

So give me reason to prove me wrong, to wash this memory clean
Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes
Give me reason to fill this hole, connect the space between
Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies across this new divide..."

Slobo felt words coming out of his mouth, in response to Bumblebee's musical plea. He knew he didn't know the words, but something about the sentiment... It just made him sing with this robot. Even from the crowd, it was like something was connecting them.

"o/` There was nothing in sight, but memories left abandoned.... There was nowhere to hide, the ashes fell, like snoooow... o/`" It was then Slo realized what he might be singing about. In some twisted way, this robot had experienced Apokolips. And survived. That seemed to be what the song was about.

"o/`And a ground caved in, between where we were standing...o/`" It was then that Slo began thinking of Secret, himself. "o/`But your voice was all I heard... " His expression and demeanor had fallen to an extreme low. "o/` Did I get what I deserve.... o/`"

After some cajoling, Cassie got up to sing something that wasn't exactly her favorite type of music but the song was incredibly fitting. Her voice wasn't great but it was well enough, and at least she was having funny judging by her giggles.

"Coin operated boy
Sitting on the shelf he is just a toy
But I turn him on and he comes to life
Automatic joy
That is why I want a coin operated boy

Made of plastic and elastic
He is rugged and long-lasting
Who could ever ever ask for more
Love without complications galore
Many shapes and weights to choose from
I will never leave my bedroom
I will never cry at night again
Wrap my arms around him and pretend..."

Jonas chuckled a little from the back of the bar. Well, if she could have a sense of humor about it, so could he.

He was on stage with her before the last strains of her song faded, capturing her hands in his own and her mouth in a kiss so that she would not escape before he started singing.

"[It feels so right now, hold me tight
Tell me I'm the only one
And then I might
Never be the lonely one
So hold (hold) me tight (me tight), to-night (to-night), to-night (to-night)

It's you
You you you - oo-oo - oo-oo
Hold me tight
Let me go on loving you
To-night to-night
Making love to only you
So hold (hold) me tight (me tight), to-night (to-night), to-night (to-night)...]"

One of the benefits to being a "coin-operated boy" was the ability to be his own back-up vocals as well.

It takes Jamie a long time before he takes the stage. First, someone has to explain to him what karaoke is, and then actually convince him to try it out. Eventually, though, he does go up. However, when he sees the lyrics that have been provided for him, his eyes go wide and he attempts to flee. It's too late for poor Jamie, though, and he clears his throat nervously before starting to sing.

Well, a Scotsman clad in kilt left the bar one evening fair
And one could tell by how he walked that he'd drunk more than his share
He fumbled 'round until he could no longer keep his feet
And he stumbled off into the grass to sleep beside the street

Ring-ding-diddle-liddle-I-de-o, ring-di-diddley-I-o
He stumbled off into the grass to sleep beside the street...

He is beet red by the time he finishes the song.

There is singing, and there is beer. Lister is there, it's his element. And he knows exactly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8_OerWWEQ4) which song he's going to sing.

Complete with his guitar, Lister struts his stuff.

"Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone
I took the city 'bout one A.M, loaded, loaded
I'm all geared up to score again, loaded, loaded
I come alive in the neon light
That's when I make my moves right
Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone
Got gleaming chrome, reflecting steel, loaded, loaded
Ready to take on every deal, loaded, loaded
My pulse is racing, I'm hot to take
This motor's revved up, fit to break
Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone
I'm aiming for ya
I'm gonna floor ya
My body's coming
All night long

The air's electric, sparkin' power, loaded, loaded
I'm getting hotter by the hour, loaded, loaded
I set my sights and then home in
The joint starts flying when I begin
Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone."

He can't play too well, and his singing isn't the best, but at least he's enthusiastic, bouncing about the stage, goofy grin never leaving his face.

Oh yes, Claudia is so DOWN with Karaoke! And she's totally about to sing the house down and if everyone's lucky she might even dance!

The music starts.

"Stupid girl, stupid girls, stupid girls
Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl

Go to Fred Segal, you'll find them there
Laughing loud so all the little people stare
Looking for a daddy to pay for the champagne
(Drop a name)
What happened to the dreams of a girl president
She's dancing in the video next to 50 Cent
They travel in packs of two or three
With their itsy bitsy doggies and their teeny-weeny tees
Where, oh where, have the smart people gone?
Oh where, oh where could they be?

Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl
Baby if I act like that, flipping my blond hair back
Push up my bra like that, I don't wanna be a stupid girl

(Break it down now)........."

Jo steps up to take her turn and she's grinning from ear to ear. She waits for the music to start and then she even starts swinging her hips a little with the music.

"You keep saying you've got something for me.
something you call love, but confess.
You've been messin' where you shouldn't have been a messin'
and now someone else is gettin' all your best.

These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.

You keep lying, when you oughta be truthin'
and you keep losin' when you oughta not bet.
You keep samin' when you oughta be changin'.
Now what's right is right, but you ain't been right yet.

These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.

You keep playin' where you shouldn't be playin
and you keep thinkin' that you´ll never get burnt.
Ha! I just found me a brand new box of matches yeah
and what he know you ain't HAD time to learn.

Yes everyone, Jean is getting up to sing. She needs a break from all the seriousness of the ship and medby. She waits patiently for the intro to finish (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPKolIQ4R1E) and then begins to sing.

"If you're feeling low and lost today
You're probably doing too much again
You spend all your hours just rushing around
Do you have a little time
Do you have a little time for me?
Slow down my love you're confusing me
If you're feeling stressed just try calling
You spend your time waiting for anyone to see
Do you have a little time
Do you have a little time for me?
If you should stop for a while
You will find me standing by
Over here at the side of your life
I'd like to hold you still, remind you of all you've missed
If you have a little time
If you have a little time that is

Why do you still run when you could walk with me
Life will pass you by when you move as quickly
What can you see when you're spinning around
Do you have a little time
Do you have a little time for me
If you should stop for a while
You will find me standing by
Over here at the side of your life
I like to hold you still, remind you of all you've missed
If you have a little time
If you have a little time that is

If you let me listen I'll make you feel clear
You spend your time waiting for anyone to see
If you should stop for a while
You will find me standing by
Over here at the side of your life
I'd like to hold you still, remind you of all you've missed
If you have a little time
If you have a little time that is
If you should stop for a while
You will find me standing by

He's normally not one to sing - ninjas and performance arts are not really a classic combination - but... well he's helped himself to a few drinks because he felt he entirely deserved them and watching everybody else just makes him want to get up and participate. When he finally hits on the right song in his mind he just gets up there before he can talk himself out of it.

"Okay so... gimme some leeway here cause I don't think I've sang on a stage since the grade four christmas pageant."

He taps the mic to make sure it's working well, then air guitar's his way through the intro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cf45I1ZI__w)...

Risin' up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

So many times, it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all in the eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
They stack the odds 'til we take to the street
For we kill with the skill to survive

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all in the eye of the tiger

Risin' up, straight to the top
Have the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I'm not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all in the e~~ye of the tiger

Surprisingly, after having the concept explained to him, Red Snout clambers onto the stage and goes through the songs until he finds one he deems appropriate. His reading skills are a bit lackluster still, but he manages to belt it out anyway, in a surprisingly harmonious tenor.

♫ Dark in the city, and the night is a wire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0j3NwH_JrM)
Steam in the subway, and the earth is a fire
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do do, do do
Woman you want me, so give me a sign
Other way I'm just a moment behind
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do do, do do (o yeah)

Now, In touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Smell and a sound, I'm lost and I'm found
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Straddle the line, in discord and rhyme
I howl and I whine I'm after you
my mouth is alive with juices like wine
And I'm hungry like the wolf

Dark in the forest too and it's close to hide
I'll be upon you on the moonlight side
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do do, do do
high blood drumming on your skin it's so tight
you feel my heat I'm just a moment behind
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do do, do do

Alright now:
In touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Smell and a sound I'm lost in a crowd
and I'm hungry like the wolf
Straddle the line it's discord and rhyme
I howl and I whine I'm after you
my mouth is alive and running inside
and I'm hungry like the wolf

hungry like the wolf
like the wolf
hungry...like the wolf

in touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Smell and a sound I'm lost and I'm found
and I'm hungry like the wolf
Straddle the line it's discord and rhyme
I howl and I whine I'm after you
my mouth is alive with juices like wine
and I'm hungry like the wolf

Smell and a sound in touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Smell and a sound I'm lost in a crowd
and I'm hungry like the wolf
Straddle the line it's discord and rhyme
I howl and I whine I'm after you
my mouth is alive and running inside
and I'm hungry like the wolf

I'm hungry like the wolf
oh yeah I'm hungry, hungry like the wolf

Hunter hates karaoke. He's not fond of putting himself out there for others to scrutinize, but... it's a team activity, and he'll sing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMrd5ikoaIs) if he has to. He's got a good voice, if a bit quiet, and it's well-suited to the ballad he's chosen.

"These hammers and strings been following me around
From a box-filled garage to the dark punk rock clubs
Of a thousand American towns
And my friend calls me up, says 'How've you been?'
I say, 'Dear, I've been well, yeah the money's come in
But I miss you like hell, I still hear you in this old piano, yeah'
She says, 'Andy, I know that we don't talk as much
But I still hear your ghost in these old punk rock clubs
Come on, write me a song, give me something to trust
Just promise you won't let it be just the keys that you touch'

Give me something to believe in
A breath from the breathing
So write it down
I don't think that I'll close my eyes
'Cause lately I'm not dreaming
So what's the point in sleeping?
It's just that at night,
I've got nowhere to hide'
So I'll write you a lullaby

These hammers and strings been following me around
Behind passenger vans, through the snow, dirt, and sands
Of a thousand American towns
And my friend calls me up, with her heart heavy still
She says, 'Andy, the doctors prescribed me the pills.
But I know I'm not crazy, I've just lost my will.
So why am I, why am I taking them still?'

'I need something to believe in
A breath from the breathing
So write it down,
I don't think that I'll close my eyes
'Cause lately I'm not dreaming
So what's the point in sleeping?
It's just that at night I've got nowhere to hide'

To the sleepless, this is my reply:
I will write you a lullaby...
"

His face is bright red by the time the song is over, and he's already on his way back to his seat by the time the last notes ring out.

Slobo looked over at Hunter.

"Good guts, man. And nice song, too." He nodded. "Next time, though, project. I don't think anyone else heard ya."

The music got his interest. But then, Jono hadn't heard a whole lot of music outside of the media library. He stepped into the Sensorium, looking around. The place looked familiar, but where?

Then he saw the stage and the karaoke and his eyes went wide. Oh, bloody 'ell.

Where was that door again?

[identity profile] madeofwyn.livejournal.com 2009-11-13 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The door behind Wyn? Yeah, Jono, you're not getting through that door. "Hi! Go sing." she chirps, pointing towards the stage expectantly.

Haku climbs the stairs to the stage as an emperor ascends his throne, and rather than launch into his song immediately, simply stares out over the crowd, sweeping his eyes over their heads as if evaluating their right to hear this.

"When the earth was still flat,
And the clouds made of fire,
And mountains stretched up to the sky..."

The song starts gently, low and conspiratorial, as a mother would whisper to her child when telling a bedtime story. It turned harsh and dark by the middle, telling a legend of angry gods and defiant people born whole and haughty without love to humble them. The gods had torn each one in two, and the halves scattered from each other, and that longing for one another, for that lost half of self, for the agony of their joining, of their separation. The pain they called 'love.'

And the way he sang it, Haku had felt that much for himself, whether or not the story was true or not. Coming from a god, there was no telling.

"It was the sad story,
How we became lonely two-legged creatures,
It's the story of the origin of love.
That's the origin of love..."

Haku bowed and jumped off the stage without preamble. He'd had enough of being in the spotlight, for now.

Slobo met up with Haku as the river god made his way from the stage.

"Good on ya, Haku. The song was a little weird, but ya got up there." Slobo grinned slightly. "Good ta see even a river god's got feelin's."

Shadow Link can come to check out the 'team building' activity. Only to find that involved singing on stage. At first he'd been refusing. And refusing. And refusing.

Finally, he couldn't take it anymore.

"Oh, fine! I'll go sing!" Shadow Link snapped at whoever in the Outsiders would have wanted to pressure him into singing (because there's always someone who does.)

So grumbling, he walked up stage. He grabbed the mic and waited for the song to start. It wasn't like he recognized it. Music was always played live, seeing as there wasn't technology back home. When he'd start singing, it'd be rather coarse and annoyed.

But...well, he was like his owner no matter what he said and it wouldn't take long until he actually enjoyed the music and started to actually sing.

Not too bad either, but the hero did have a bit of an affinity for music and affected his own shadow.

"No sleep
No sleep until I am done with finding the answer
Won't stop
Won't stop before I find a cure for this cancer
Sometimes
I feel I going down and so disconnected
Somehow
I know that I am haunted to be wanted

I've been watching
I've been waiting
In the shadows all my time
I've been searching
I've been living
For tomorrows all my life

In the shadows

In the shadows

They say
That i must learn to kill before i can feel safe
But I
I rather kill myself then turn into their slave
Sometimes
I feel that I should go and play with the thunder
Somehow
I just don't wanna stay and wait for a wonder

I've been watching
I've been waiting
In the shadows all my time
I've been searching
I've been living
For tomorrows all my life

Lately I been walking walking in circles, watching waiting for something
Feel me touch me heal me, come take me higher

I've been watching
I've been waiting
In the shadows all my time
I've been searching
I've been living
For tomorrows all my life
I've been watching
I've been waiting
I've been searching
I've been living for tomorrows

In the shadows

In the shadows
I've been waiting."

Slobo cheered.

"That, right there? I liked that." The Top Teen said to his cohorts.

[identity profile] dreamstolights.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Selene walked up after a while and picked up the mic. "I'm just gonna say it now. Anyone want to come up? If you know the words, do it," she said, grinning widely.

And then the song started and she began to sing.

"Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality"

Dark Smoke Puncher wasn't much for the ebonics. In fact, they did drive him insane.

...but he did like rap. As long as they weren't the cliche 'smack a b&%$h, shoot a gun' and other such things. Only so many songs can be about that before it was just mind numbing.

You ready?! Let's go!
Yeah, for those of you that want to know what we're all about
It's like this y'all (c'mon!)

This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

Mike! - He doesn't need his name up in lights
He just wants to be heard whether it's the beat or the mic
He feels so unlike everybody else, alone
In spite of the fact that some people still think that they know him
But f$%# em, he knows the code
It's not about the salary
It's all about reality and making some noise
Making the story - making sure his clique stays up
That means when he puts it down Tak's picking it up! Let's go!

Who the hell is he anyway?
He never really talks much
Never concerned with status but still leaving them star struck
Humbled through opportunities given despite the fact
That many misjudge him because he makes a living from writing raps
Put it together himself, now the picture connects
Never asking for someone's help, or to get some respect
He's only focused on what he wrote, his will is beyond reach
And now it all unfolds, the skill of an artist

This is twenty percent skill
Eighty percent fear
Be a hundred percent clear cause Ryu is ill
Who would've thought that he'd be the one to set the west in flames
And I heard him wreck it with The Crystal Method, "Name Of The Game"
Came back dropped Megadef, took em to church
I like bleach man, why you had the stupidest verse?
This dude is the truth, now everybody's giving him guest spots
His stock's through the roof I heard he's fuckin' with S. Dot!

This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

They call him Ryu, he's sick
And he's spitting fire
And mike got him out the dryer he's hot
Found him in Fort Minor with Tak
What a fuckin' nihilist porcupine
He's a prick, he's a cock
The type woman want to be with, and rappers hope he get shot
Eight years in the making, patiently waiting to blow
Now the record with Shinoda's taking over the globe
He's got a partner in crime, his shit is equally dope
You wont believe the kind of shit that comes out of this kid's throat

Tak! - He's not your everyday on the block
He knows how to work with what he's got
Making his way to the top
He often gets a comment on his name
People keep asking him was it given at birth
Or does it stand for an acronym?
No he's living proof, got him rocking the booth
He'll get you buzzing quicker than a shot of vodka with juice
Him and his crew are known around as one of the best
Dedicated to what they do and give a hundred percent

Forget Mike - Nobody really knows how or why he works so hard
It seems like he's never got time
Because he writes every note and he writes every line
And I've seen him at work when that light goes on in his mind
It's like a design is written in his head every time
Before he even touches a key or speaks in a rhyme
And those motherfuckers he runs with,
The kids that he signed?
Ridiculous, without even trying,
How do they do it?!

This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!"

Outsiders, You know what to do.

Slobo approached the stage.

"Alright, if any o' my teammates wanna join in, here's a classic for everyone."

With that, a beat and hook begin playing.

o/` Bust it

This here's a tale for all the fellas,
Tryin ta do what those ladies tell us,
Get shot down cuz yer overzealous,
Play hard ta get, females get jealous... o/`
