Karaoke Night [OPEN]

Between nearly killing himself trying to help people and his talk with Nathan, Peter was exhausted. Even with his upbeat demeanor, it was hard to not say he felt stressed. His flight-breaks no longer helping, he decided he needed to take a few hours. He found himself at the sensoriums, a place he had heard talked about like the holodeck from Star Trek. As he walked in, it was a blank room. He closed his eyes and thought to himself.

I just need a way to relax.

He suddenly heard music, and opened his eyes to what appeared to be a high class nightclub, but filled with the strangest creatures he had ever seen, even since arriving on the ship. Behind the bar, a green-skinned redhead with horns, more conspicuous for his paisley shirt and purple ascot, was trying to get his attention.

"Hey, kiddo, didn't you hear them call your name?" The demon said, smiling. "You're up, bubbulah. Don't worry, I picked a good song for you." Peter eyed him warily. Wherever this place had come from, it was not his head. But decided not to question it, and went to stand in front of a karaoke machine on stage. He picked up the mike and saw the song, and smiled. He loved this song. EVERYONE loved this song. Luckily, a few years in boy's choir had given him a sense of tune, and puberty had left him with a decent tenor. So, he began to sing.

o/` I can't fight this feeling any longer,
And yet I'm still afraid to let it flow... o/`

That was all it took. As if suddenly injected with 100 ccs of pure rock ballad awesome, Peter closed his eyes and began letting the music take him, eventually rocking out. He had forgotten what it was like, honestly. Forgotten the fun of just letting go and having fun. And as he finished up the REO Speedwagon classic, breathing heavily and feeling alive, he wished he hadn't.

But then he opened his eyes to notice more than just his holographic audience had filtered into the "club".

"Uh... Next?" He said as he hastily replaced the mike and went to get a holo-beer.

That was embarrassing.  He could only hope someone would follow him up and make it slightly less so.

[ooc: Start a subthread with your character approaching the stage and singing a song. Characters can react to other's performances even if they aren't singing themselves. And any song you'd like, Lorne has the entire mutliverse on karaoke. I'm not asking, and neither should you.]

Katara took Roise's idea and had another sip. She didn;t gag this time (thankfully), although her face felt like it was growing with heat. She decided she was going to try and recreate the properties of this drink, if only to give her something to do.

"Close? We're friends! Why wouldn't we be close?"

"You can keep drinking all you want. Trust me, it doesn't get any better." Hunter, on the other hand, gets snarky when he gets slightly buzzed.

Katara gave a smile. "Oh, I dunno. They look like they're having fun. If I knew the song at all, I might try to sing backup with them."

"He's probably right." Rose tipped her glass toward the new guy. "Don't think we've met, I'm Rose, this is Katara." If he knew the other girl or not, Rose was stepping in with the introductions.

"And I get that you guys are friends but are you like.. dating? Casual sex?"

"Nice to meet y'all. I'm Hunter." It should also be noted that Hunter's Georgia accent becomes more pronounced when he's slightly buzzed.

"W-what?!" Ok, that was definitely NOT something Katara could even pretend she even knew about. What did people do in different worlds sometimes? "No, Static and I are definitely just friends. I mean, he's nice and sweet and good looking, of course he is. I can't imagine a girl not wanting to be with someone like Static. The thing is...there's someone I'm waiting for."

And for now, especially when she felt the buzz on her head, she wouldn't elaborate.

"Anyway, aren't you more his style anyway? You're older and you're way more attractive and a super hero. If we both liked him, it isn't like I'd have a chance there."

She said it in both jest and as a fact. I mean, she could see why people would find Rose attractive. She was just sort of plain in comparison.

Hunter was given a proper greeting and smile. "Lovin the accent, sounds gentlemanly some how."

But her drink was stopped before it could reach her lips by Katara's comment. "Wait...whoa whoa whoa..first off You are way pretty, and powerful. And from what I have seen so far really sweet. Mot guys tend to like that in my experience. Most guys worth having anyway."

And now we've come to the painful truths portion of the show. "I uhh...I have bad luck with guys. Getting lucky and being lucky are way different. It always seems like if I like a guy he likes someone else." ok Alcohol was making Rose talk, and no wonder, look who was being a booze hound.

"Thanks? It's, uh, not somethin' I really feel like changin'."

... and clearly Hunter has intruded on one of those girl-talk conversations he knows nothing about and wants to stay very far away from. He'll just sit here quietly and hope Rose and Katara don't decide to ask him anything.

Hunter has nothing to worry about. After all, what would girl talk be like without ignoring a boy when they needed to? Besides, she thought his accent was nice too.

"I might be those things, but people still just think I'm a kid anyway. You're more of a mature woman, and you seem like the type that would get guys flocking to her. I'm pretty sure that Static has his eye in you too."

At least, if he wasn't blind. She just wanted to make sure he had a smile on his face. The more she though him being depressed, the more it bothered her.

But to show her good faith, Katara DID take another swig of alcohol.
